To ask why people are worried about 5G?

Some are even linking it to covid 19! So if you are worried about 5G is it due to radiation? Do you think it will cause cancer?can you point me to research?

@Scautish - thank you for that website! DS will love it. And we have lots of marshmallows...

And I admire your patience.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 13/04/2020 11:30

@Scautish thanks for that speed of light link, I'd love to try the experiment but have a very poor track record on that sort of thing. Spent about 2 hours last week trying to make a rainbow with a glass of water. Total failure.

Ilovechinese · 13/04/2020 11:30

Did anyone see the video of loads of bees dead near the 5G masts?

Gorgeous991 · 13/04/2020 11:33

opticaldelusion · 13/04/2020 11:38

Oh cripes. Why bother? Never a good idea to say to conspiracy theorists 'please explain your batshit ideas'.

www.brusselstimes.com/all-news/belgium-all-news/103718/5g-brussels-left-behind-in-belgian-rollout/

This has been rumbling on in Brussels since last year - the city of Brussels halted 5G roll out, and according to the article above, are still doing so, as there is concern. Not as tin foil hat as some think then.

Gorgeous991 · 13/04/2020 12:09

@thatonehasalittlecar Brussels is strategically one of the most important cities in the EU so why poison it with extra radiation? Makes sense.

thatonehasalittlecar · 13/04/2020 12:24

@gorgeous991

Huh? I didn’t mention Brussels.

Scautish · 13/04/2020 12:26

I have reported your posts gorgeous911.

Whether @MNHQ do anything I don’t know as I know they like to encourage civilised debate, but given behemoths such as Facebook and Twitter are being constructive in not allowing such utter shite to be posted, I would that MN would take a similarly responsible tack.

Your ignorance is not only a danger to yourself, but to others too.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/04/2020 12:27

You can switch your radio and microwave off. You can have less than 1 xray a year. But you wont get a break from 5G as it will be ON ALL THE TIME.

But you can’t switch the radio off. You can switch off the receiver but not the radio signals.
As for putting your head in the microwave, well it won’t start with the door open and you can’t see to press the buttons.

Noconceptofnormal · 13/04/2020 12:29

I am not worried about 5G but I don't want Huawei anywhere near our networks. No Chinese company is completely exclusive to the Chinese government, it is a communist state not a capitalist state, people need to understand the differences and stop treating them as if they're the same.

Neighneigh · 13/04/2020 12:31

I saw a really good documentary on all this once, it was really an omg moment for me. Called something like the X Files? Must be on YouTube somewhere.

ThisIsMyStory1 · 13/04/2020 12:47

@Happybunny199 did you even read your own article? 😂

"There's often confusion between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation because the term radiation is used for both," said Kenneth Foster, a professor of bioengineering at Pennsylvania State University. "All light is radiation because it is simply energy moving through space. It's ionizing radiation that is dangerous because it can break chemical bonds."

Ionizing radiation is the reason we wear sunscreen outside because short-wavelength ultraviolet light from the sky has enough energy to knock electrons from their atoms, damaging skin cells and DNA. Millimeter waves, on the other hand, are non-ionizing because they have longer wavelengths and not enough energy to damage cells directly.

"The only established hazard of non-ionizing radiation is too much heating," Foster said, who has studied the health effects of radio waves for nearly 50 years. "At high exposure levels, radio frequency (RF) energy can indeed be hazardous, producing burns or other thermal damage, but these exposures are typically incurred only in occupational settings near high-powered radio frequency transmitters, or sometimes in medical procedures gone awry."

Misinformed?
Perhaps they believe everything they read on social media?
A 'FB friend' of mine keeps posting David Ike videos... he is a really oddball that previously suggested that lizard people live amongst us...why on earth would anyone listen to anything he says!
Tin foil hats?
Genuinely stupid?
A range of reasons why people believe what when digging a little is utter rubbish.
Strange that analogue tv;s used a similar wave to 5G and no-one back then complained about that....

There appear to be a number of conspiracy theorists... the government are controlling us by 5G/ etc etc etc

Maybe their lives are so out of control with this virus pandemic that the only way to rationalise it is to come up with loopy ideas

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2020 12:56

I'm not a 'fake scientist'.Hmm

Scientists have been studying the effects of radiation across the spectrum for decades.

Life expectancy has gone up. There's more diagnosis of autism and MH conditions instead of shoving people into asylums. Being overweight is caused by too much eating and being more sedentary - no mystery there.

Some technologies have caused harm - pesticides such as DDT for instance. Lead in petrol. Much more care is taken now after these huge mistakes.

Scientists and engineers aren't ignorant gung-ho idiots. You've probably no idea of the regulatory systems etc.

Scautish · 13/04/2020 12:59

Maybe there are more autistic people because the world needs more logical thinking? (Generalisation noted, irony intended)

Or should I assume that by grouping autism together with obesity and mental health disorders you view it as an entirely bad thing?

If so, as an autistic person I find that pretty offensive and demonstrates tremendous ignorance about autism. But then again ignorance is a general theme of your post so at least you are consistent.

Scautish · 13/04/2020 13:02

That was @Emigrantxxs

DopeyDazy · 13/04/2020 13:06

same here about Huawei being involved apart from info leaks we could easily be held to ransom for parts info or upgrades to keep China in front

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2020 13:09

There are good reasons for objecting to Huawei but they've got bugger all to do with 5G as such.

Amotherof6 · 13/04/2020 13:21

This sort of stupid post is why some odd people have burnt towers. Misinformed anHappybunny199 Sun 12-Apr-20 13:15:31
5G will cause an enormous amount of radiation which will lead to cancer and depression etc. No wonder peoplw are trying to burn some of 5G towers now. We will be living in a "microwave". Its also being rolled out NOW - midst lockdown. So people couldnt protest against it. Its a reality now.d totally incorrect."

Seriously do some research from reputable published sites and stop listening to the likes of David Icke etc etc

Amotherof6 · 13/04/2020 13:23

oh heck the cut and paste of the stupid incorrect post has ended up in between by saying it is stupid....

perhaps the 'government' were trying to stop me from posting .... scary thought... some people believe any old tripe..

Don't listen to Debbie on facebook who regurgitates Ickes rubbish....

Amotherof6 · 13/04/2020 13:35

Thank you Scautish for attempting to educate some of the more ridiculous posts. I imagine too many don't have a grasp of the basics and so latch onto anything said without looking at the 'risks' of other things... sunlight is riskier than so many things ..... people don't tend to lock themselves in lead boxes and hide away though....yet get themselves worked up about 5G
