The rise in the hero complex

There has been a certain rise in people claiming they are or thinking they are heroes. "We are saving lives".

That basically involves an avid desire to report anyone that dares to leave the house, police everyone else, dismiss the worries and concerns of others, ridiculing, attacking,bullying and emotionally blackmailing anyone who struggles, some kind of irrational fear/hate of children and gleeful virtue signaling about how much better they are at staying home. Abusing key workers that in their eyes are not doing their job,for doing their job, following guidelines(made up or official) ,not following guidelines,in the wrong clothes etc.

There are people who are seriously struggling right now, emotionally,financially,mentally,physically etc. People that are becoming more and more vulnerable as more restrictions and public policing come in. People that have killed themselves due to the situation we are in.

They are not heroes,they are not saving lives.

Omg omg I haven't clicked on the other world of MN for ages after isolating on here but I just looked and there is a thread with people berating others for using flour to make playdoh!

What I want to know is... did my awesome sign get used or not?

Just chiming in. Thanks for the sanity check. Doing my bit but hating it.

Since I'm coming in late- here's my gripes:

• if I hear 'unprecedented' or 'uncertain/crazy timeSS' once more I'm gonna throw some chops.

• Still getting married/honeymoon in July... allegedly.

• Sick to fuck of the world and Debbie from Facebook telling me to BE MORE SCARED. You're not SCARED enough.

• Have been furloughed from tomorrow, so now I officially have no reason to get dressed for the Google hangout.

• Have a member of my SO family who is a massive virtue signaller who basically is super happy to shut the world down forever to save livesss as long as everyone knows about it. Would argue for hours with me on the groupchat about FB info that is directly counteracted in gov advice.

I just can't even guys.
