The rise in the hero complex

There has been a certain rise in people claiming they are or thinking they are heroes. "We are saving lives".

That basically involves an avid desire to report anyone that dares to leave the house, police everyone else, dismiss the worries and concerns of others, ridiculing, attacking, bullying and emotionally blackmailing anyone who struggles, some kind of irrational fear/hate of children and gleeful virtue signaling about how much better they are at staying home. Abusing key workers that in their eyes are not doing their job,for doing their job, following guidelines(made up or official) ,not following guidelines,in the wrong clothes etc.

There are people who are seriously struggling right now, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically etc. People that are becoming more and more vulnerable as more restrictions and public policing come in. People that have killed themselves due to the situation we are in.

They are not heroes, they are not saving lives.

"No one clapped here as far as I could tell. Why do we need to clap the kids? Clap the fucking parents I say."
😂😂😂😂😂

SmileyClare · 05/04/2020 19:19

I think I'll invent one. How about any child owning a recorder plays a tune on their doorstep on a Wednesday? It'll be rousing and heart warming, that melodic recorder sound filling the air.

And more importantly, everyone will think I'm a thoughtful hero because it was my idea.

GrumpyMug2 · 05/04/2020 19:26

Now no one knows what's going on with the clapping. Who are we clapping for? When? I've started clapping every time I put something in my outside bin for fear of being berated by neighbours.

We should do this, made me laugh

Shitsgettingcrazy · 05/04/2020 20:12

SmileyClare · 05/04/2020 20:28

I think it will go down in history books. How people of our time got into the spirit of things and took part in organised wanking to help their community.

SmileyClare · 05/04/2020 20:32

Thanks for the offer princess I've already got a beer bellied OH and as I'm sure you'll understand, one is more than enough Wink

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 05/04/2020 20:33

Wank/flick the bean for NHS!

Now imagine that all over the telly/SM / posters.

Doorstep wanking can be the next news story.

At least that will stop all the journalists/photographers flocking to outdoor hotspots hoping to catch people flocking to outdoor hotspots. Confused

Shitsgettingcrazy · 05/04/2020 20:49

Did anyone dance on their doorstep either?

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 05/04/2020 20:52

Have you met us?Grin

Most I could manage was a fart.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 05/04/2020 20:56

I didnt know if any of us had been on the gin and decided to partake.

I fell asleep after my dinner. No idea if other people did it round here 😂

Willow2017 · 05/04/2020 20:59

Yes Smiley funny how a link on another thread to all the 'thousands of people flocking to a seaside and other places' showed practically empty places yet the poster was still frothing at the mouth about "This is why we are going into permanent lockdown". Confused

I may have posted on that thread re the idiots who thought that the 'wanking at 8pm' was a real thing and were clutching their pearls about it!

Any sense of humour has been lost by many along with their marbles. Sick to death of people yelling at people for having a bit of fun because 'its not allowed any more'!

I have only seen one couple and thier little kid outside all day, out walking their dog! Hardly throngs of people going out round here!

BTW who do I report them to?

Willow2017 · 05/04/2020 21:02

Maybe we should do them all at once and just get it over with?

Shouting 'wankers', clapping, dancing and shining our torches while we dance to Sclub7? Then all collapse in a heap and forget about all that crap altogether?

Did anyone dance on their doorstep either?

If I ever dance on my doorstep I hope that there is a sniper in the distance to put me out of my misery. Preferably in slow motion, like the opening shots of a horror film.

GrumpyMug2 · 05/04/2020 21:45

Christ you guys made me laugh so much that the cat is now very indignant at the noise I'm making
