The rise in the hero complex

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 28/03/2020 17:08

There has been a certain rise in people claiming they are or thinking they are heroes. "We are saving lives".

That basically involves an avid desire to report anyone that dares to leave the house, police everyone else, dismiss the worries and concerns of others, ridiculing, attacking, bullying and emotionally blackmailing anyone who struggles, some kind of irrational fear/hate of children and gleeful virtue signaling about how much better they are at staying home. Abusing key workers that in their eyes are not doing their job,for doing their job, following guidelines(made up or official) ,not following guidelines,in the wrong clothes etc.

There are people who are seriously struggling right now, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically etc. People that are becoming more and more vulnerable as more restrictions and public policing come in. People that have killed themselves due to the situation we are in.

They are not heroes, they are not saving lives.

Oh that really cheered me up.

That's good news! Well done and good luck. I will dedicate my clap to you! Grin

Willow2017 · 31/03/2020 18:50

Thanks PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock & GrumpyMug2 he has done the usual teen stuff: lay in bed, on pc gaming with his friends (ONLINE before mn explodes) but he did finish off the sanding woodwork in the bathroom for me. We are all currently eating choc cake😁

🌟 for you GrumpyMug2. Must be so stressful, hats off to you. Hope you get a rest and some 🥂 later.

@Greysparkles

I'll get those claps if it kills me 😂

God I read that wrong, I thought you meant you wanted to catch “The Claps” and had to reread it again (as in Gonorrhoea) 😱

I thought we’d circled back to those Spanish soldiers 😂

GrumpyMug2 · 31/03/2020 19:17

@willow2017 thanks! Eyeing up wine now but he is watching the end of the interminably long star wars episode one.

@Greysparkles good luck! I will clap for you too! Although in any other situation, I would not be wishing clap on you

FrangipaniBlue · 31/03/2020 20:30

Ahh @PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock we walk ours on a leash too! Although he's currently still in hibernation...... maybe he has the right idea?

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/03/2020 20:30

Dons tin foil hat on.

How come out of all the threads I'm on this is the only one that has disappeared from the list and can only find it on watch?

Someone fed the gremlins water?? Or there was some jealously over the Spanish soldiers from those who didn't pre order... tin foil hat donned

GrumpyMug2 · 31/03/2020 21:11

Ooh conspiracy talk, like it. I know I spoke to Sandra who knows someone who knows someone in government who knows someone in the NHS and this thread is banned

Shitsgettingcrazy · 31/03/2020 21:12

Because there isnt sufficient drama on it.

GrumpyMug2 · 31/03/2020 21:12

Might update FB immediately

Janice from next door says iits non essential according to her personal list. she heard people were actually having a laugh, again not in her own made up list.

She called 101.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/03/2020 21:28

DD has finally succumbed to isolation madness. A HP trivial pursuit made her cry, my accompanying song made her hysterical. OH got mad. She's hiding in the bedroom and ignoring it. I'm still humming it.

I think we all lost it.Grin

Yes, my Spanish soldier is defective and gave me the claps.....can I return him via Hermes?

TheGreatWave · 31/03/2020 21:36

I'm muddling along. Not quite at the killing stage, mainly because disposing of a body at this time would not really qualify as an 'essential journey' and I am sure that I will be in more trouble for that then the actual dead body in the boot.

On a good note (sorry) ds is 12 and has autism, I am not making him do homework and there is an element of calm in the house, it is hard enough for him as it is so I am not going to add stress and anxiety by pressurising him with the work. I know that makes me a dreadful parent and a teacher hater or something so I will still hang my head in shame.

But no meltdowns and my house isn't being thrashed, which is a win for me.

Lotuscup563 · 31/03/2020 21:39

I don’t think our government is.....but I certainly believe the Chinese government is hiding deaths as their numbers just don’t tally up!

My DH got our neighbours and their children’s prescriptions from the doctors for them....we haven’t told anyone about it, as it wouldn’t occur to us that’s a thing to boast about...not really a good deed is it, if your doing it to make yourself look good instead of because you want to or because you care.

GrumpyMug2 · 31/03/2020 21:45

@TheGreatWave fuck homework right now. Treat this as an early Easter holidays. Ofc I said this while we have done 4 hours maths, 4 hours english, 4 hours science and 8 hours reading

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/03/2020 21:54

Grumpy what? No spellings and topic work? I feel sorry for you child!

You mean via Herpes greysparkles

Blakes77 · 31/03/2020 22:07

Reading the thread about why people can't follow The Rules. Apparently birdwatching gear is verboten.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 31/03/2020 22:26

Those threads are scary as hell, some of the advice. They make me chuckle though for all the wrong reasons. Criticising large families for needing to shop more often

your over-breeding is already having a huge impact on the environment and you expect everyone else to suffer now to make way for your addiction to child rearing?

Add to the list of murderers all parents with more than 2.4 children!

Greysparkles · 31/03/2020 22:29

Somebody actually said that?! Jesus 😂 😂
