The rise in the hero complex

There has been a certain rise in people claiming they are or thinking they are heroes. "We are saving lives".

That basically involves an avid desire to report anyone that dares to leave the house, police everyone else, dismiss the worries and concerns of others, ridiculing, attacking, bullying and emotionally blackmailing anyone who struggles, some kind of irrational fear/hate of children and gleeful virtue signaling about how much better they are at staying home. Abusing key workers that in their eyes are not doing their job,for doing their job, following guidelines(made up or official) ,not following guidelines,in the wrong clothes etc.

There are people who are seriously struggling right now, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically etc. People that are becoming more and more vulnerable as more restrictions and public policing come in. People that have killed themselves due to the situation we are in.

They are not heroes, they are not saving lives.

A deranged Spanish soldier?
well you know what they say ....the crazy ones are always really good in bed😍

Willow2017 · 31/03/2020 12:08

We will have 'The lockdown (its not really lockdown but we have decided it is) Brigade' out in matching hazmat suits and clutching thier pearls to accost anyone they think are breaking 'thier rules' (not the actual guidelines.)
They will be taking photos and posting them on the police sites demanding 'action' and praise for thier selfless citizenship due to being in that dangerous place called 'outside' just to spy on others, which will become a 'necessary outing' overnight.
😀

You know i was in favour of stricter guidelines earlier on when people were being out and out stupid, gathering in huge numbers outside, filling pubs etc. But i figured the average adult had common sense to tell.the difference between a packed pub and a solo country walk! That you cant catch it from shouting to a family member 10 feet away through a window. That people cant get a full weeks family shop almost anywhere these days or cant carry a full shop home so need to go out more than once a week. Guess i learned that was totally wrong pdq. Doh!

One thing i have to smile at is all the
"Stop being a stupid fucker by prepping" posts over the last 6 months.
"Havent you heard of online shopping? Its pretty common in the real world you know! i will just get a next day delivery from tescos if i have to stay in i dont need to bother buyjng anything at all. You preppers are all fucking mentally deranged."
Hows that working out for you all now?

Willow2017 · 31/03/2020 12:09

The silence is deafening🤣🤣🤣

Greysparkles · 31/03/2020 12:20

This just came up on my Facebook....

The rise in the hero complex
Krazykitty · 31/03/2020 12:34

@Blakes77 I'm off out now, for my march round the block. Just looking for my sequinned catsuit and stilettos

Brilliant, I can’t get the image out of my head now 🤣

This thread has made me feel so much more sane. No longer feeling like a serial killer for going to the shop and dare I say it buying something that is non essential.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/03/2020 12:41

The silence is deafening

Its been less than 2 minutes

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/03/2020 12:42

And there are a number of threads complaining about stockpiling even now

Willow2017 · 31/03/2020 12:44

Thats about how long it took many people to pile on the preppers threads on a regular basis!😀

But i admit i wrote it intending to post later but touched the damm phone as i put it down to make my cuppa! My mistook.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/03/2020 13:07

Sadly breathing happened. From all three of us. We just weren't strong enough.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/03/2020 13:23

You had one job princess one job

Thepigeonsarecoming · 31/03/2020 13:24

Wait I’m a bit concerned, if we’re importing all these Spanish (deranged) Soldiers, aren’t we increasing the amount of people breathing in this Country??? Plus won’t the sight of them cause heavier breathing

God is this some foreign ploy to kill us all??? (Runs off to the conspiracy thread board)

Tonyaster · 31/03/2020 13:27

I agree OP and haven't read the rest of the thread.

In fact this virus has genuinely killed off my FB obsession, which is one good thing about it. I've literally stopped caring about what anyone else is doing Shock

I refuse to do the clap for the nhs, i don't give a shit if people walk their dogs three times a day, I don't believe sipping water kills the virus, I am not interested in your sourdough, home improvements, home schooling or kids cutting your hair. Do. Not. Care anymore.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/03/2020 13:27

@Thepigeonsarecoming I'm a peadiatric nurse in a large children's hospital.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 13:28

Three of you and all breathing?

That's the place contaminated for the next four years and seven months.

Tonyaster · 31/03/2020 13:31

In fact, i am going to the garage shop in a minute for crisps and chocolate. Does anyone want anything?

FrangipaniBlue · 31/03/2020 13:35

Can I have a twin and a can of Diet Coke please?

SarahTancredi · 31/03/2020 13:36

I'll have some gin tony

Amd bbq pringles

FrangipaniBlue · 31/03/2020 13:36

And see if they've any Spanish Soldiers, local shops seem so much better stocked these days than the Supermarkets Grin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 13:39

A lottery ticket. Winning one, if possible, because a winning lottery ticket is an essential, and a non winning one is completely unnecessary.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/03/2020 13:40

A pack of fags. Now that would properly blow Mumsnet up.

OP posts:
PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 31/03/2020 13:45

Ooooooh fags!

[swoons]

TheGreatWave · 31/03/2020 13:47

Milk, autistic ds gets through a lot of milk, I really do have to stock pile that. We currently have 20 pints in the fridge, that is likely to run out before the weekend.

Tonyaster · 31/03/2020 13:49

Ok, cool. If there's wine I'll pick up a couple of bottles

Willow2017 · 31/03/2020 13:51

Ooh sour cream Pringles, box of Lindor, lemonade, and a pkt of baccy (pkt of cigs if you are buying😉) please.
All completely necessary if i am to survive with teens.😂
