@longshot started a new thread as the other filled up and I thought you were poorly and people would be wanting to find out how you were doing.

Thank you @dreamm and @Casino218. So pleased to hear you are feeling better, @Casino218*.

Casino218 · 28/03/2020 18:51

Yes my HP said that with flu they say you are back to full capacity in 6 weeks. He said this is like a worse flu so don't think you are just going to be ok after two weeks.

I'm taking every opportunity to rest and let my body do the rest. Definitely feel like I can function more though now.

I’m at the startge where I don’t know if I’ve got it or I’m having a panic attack.

I had a cold/flu that lasted 3 weeks. I had runny nose, sore throat (so bad I thought it was strep) and fatigue. I was ok for a few days then about 7 days ago I felt like I had a burning ball in the centre of my chest.

This flared up randomly and a day or two later I got another sore, tight throat. My chest then felt heavy but apart from a little cough in the mornings, nothing.

Today I feel like someone is sat on my chest and my heart is racing. I’ve been stressed about trying to get hold of food (18 month old baby) and not sure if I’m just exhausted and terrified or if I’ve got the virus.

Sorry to ramble, I don’t know where else to vent.

KingaRoo · 28/03/2020 18:57

I haven't isolated from my family as DH and I got symptoms at the same time so there would have been no-one to look after the DC! Also we both have fairly mild symptoms and didn't have fever or cough at first. Only mild cough now. But we've both had the fatigue and the chest tightness and a few other mild symptoms.

Feel better today (Day 13 from first day of chest tightness) but DH having a bad day. It's weird how our symptoms come and go so much. Fully expecting that I might feel worse again tomorrow!

Casino218 · 28/03/2020 18:57

@MrsLeclerc sorry to say it sounds like it.

@ItsAStruggleRightNow

Hopefully that's the worse over then. Bear in mind that you can take two steps forward, one back. That's how my re over has been. Almost there (80% I'd say) after 12 days now.

My husband has started slight coughing now but other than that, he seems fine. Both of my teenage boys are showing NO symptoms.

Casino218 · 28/03/2020 18:59

Also please keep drinking water (2-3 litres daily) and juice. It prevents mucus getting sticky and that will help prevent secondary infections.

@longshot Mine was in a local hospital. 111 sent me there, otherwise I wouldn't have known.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/03/2020 19:14

Glad you're feeling better Casino.

Thanks for this thread, everyone. It's reassuring when I feel there's nobody else to ask about it. NHS site is useless and can't discuss with partner as the kids are in earshot.

Hi everyone, Im just posting to help anyone who is panicking that theybare about to get back again. Today was my day 6 and i only had the chills/fever/shakes etc this morning which obviously I just couldnt face days of. After that I literally slept all day. The first sleep ive had because the remaining days ive been too jittery/trembling and cold sweats. Having slept i feel much better like the “mild symptoms” i’d heard so much about. Ive just slept and slept. I have deep pressure on my chest and shallow breathing but i can manage at rest.

The dr phoned and said that he knows from other patients how frightening it must be for your body to react so violently shaking/chills etc so often but that is the immune response. He said whilst he cant ask me not to take a valium he would please please ask me not to so that if my breathing gets in trouble im awake and aware to get help.

Touch wood i havent had any more of the distressing symptoms just complete lethargy. Heading into day 7 and back to bed just so that im braced for anymore of the hard bits.

I am embarrassed at how badly Ive coped and felt like deleting off here in shame. But I know that there will be others like me frantically observing other peoples timelines of symptoms for solace. So im posting to say thankyou to everyone for today. I’ll be back after another sleep x

Needsomegoodnews · 28/03/2020 19:24

Has anyone else felt constriction in upper airway rather than lungs - breathing rate etc ok but feels narrow, tight and swollen - it’s scaring me!

EMichel102 · 28/03/2020 19:28

Anyone else feel shattered by 7 pm wondering if it’s acceptable to go to bed?! :)

MellowMelly · 28/03/2020 19:31

@Needsomegoodnews
Yes my daughter did, so much so that she thought it may be an allergic reaction.

AnythingPecan · 28/03/2020 19:32

@needsomegoodnews me! Today in fact!
Mine was exaggerated by reflux so I took some gaviscon and that seemed to help.

mymoonmyman2020 · 28/03/2020 19:36

@Needsomegoodnews yes I’ve had this today. I felt it’s made worse by certain positions, so lying flat is much better than on my side.

EMichel102 · 28/03/2020 19:36

@TheDrsWife46 I’m so pleased you were able to get some rest. Don’t be embarrassed at all. Hope you sleep well!

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/03/2020 19:37

Drswife glad you're feeling better and don't worry about how you've reacted. We all have our moments. It always seems so much worse at night, somehow.

Casino218 · 28/03/2020 19:37

@Thedrswife that was me a few days ago after ringing the GP. But we all get scared and anything to do with breathing is scary plus we have all these scary headlines.

It's a virus that makes us go up and down. Each day you are further along the course of it though.

OP posts:
ofwarren · 28/03/2020 19:42

Don't be embarrassed TheDrsWife I was in tears when I had that symptom. It's terrifying! You feel so out of control.
I'm so glad you managed a good sleep x

Needsomegoodnews · 28/03/2020 19:46

@MellowMelly that’s exactly it! Feels like an anaphylactic reaction - did it resolve on it’s own for your daughter? @AnythingPecan and @mymoonmyman2020 glad I’m not the only one - is it going away? My throat is definitely swollen as I have to concentrate to swallow. I’m terrified I could suffocate in my sleep! I know since otherwise breathing ok they won’t do anything if I call 111 Sad

Needsomegoodnews · 28/03/2020 19:47

@EMichel102 I’m impressed you can think about going to bed - does that mean you were able to get up today?!

dreamm · 28/03/2020 19:50

I feel amazing this evening. My fever has lifted for the first time since Monday and I feel like myself again. It's great!

I'm enjoying it while it lasts because this thread has shown me how quickly it can all go bad again.

EMichel102 · 28/03/2020 19:52

@Needsomegoodnews very good point Smile - I meant the dreaded night round! My lungs have gone all fiery again just before night time - so annoying!

SchrodingersKitty · 28/03/2020 19:53

@Needsomegoodnews: yes that's how mine started - 18 long days ago: a swollen throat like an allergic reaction. Then a feeling like something was stuck in it. It is the one symptom that has remained consistent throughout, but the swelling has receded. Hot showers and breathing in the steam from hot drinks really helped (I know I keep banging on about this but that and open windows were the main things that helped me).
