The Royals jumping ship...

A virus pandemic breaks out in the UK. Everyone is essentially on house arrest bar a few essential occasions. Businesses and workers facing going bust. People dying every day. Hospitals overwhelmed. Surely this would be a great moment for a morale boosting message from our beloved royals, who we pay to keep in the lap of luxury? Oh wait, a little recorded message has been deemed a health risk to the Queen (allegedly).

Oh well, they can always volunteer Buckingham Palace as a makeshift hospital or hub for supplies, etc, as I'm sure they want to do what they can for their beloved citizens, especially now theyve legged it out of London. Oh wait.

Seriously what are these people for and why do we pay for them again?

Meghan & Harry are helping out via their Instagram account 🤣

Wolfgirrl · 25/03/2020 18:58

I'm fairly certain if all the money was going towards a family on benefits, nobody would be saying 'let them have it, it only costs a quid a year'.

Oh wait they kind of are a family on benefits when you think about it...Hmm

I love them. So sorry sad OP,

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 19:01

Why Through?

I would actually. Sorry to disappoint you.

Wolfgirrl · 25/03/2020 19:03

Yeah right Wink

Meghan & Harry are helping out via their Instagram account 🤣

By editing the advice list being given by the WHO no less...

I'm not surprised they jumped ship due to the treatment they got, but they're lucky the press is too busy to give that any attention

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 19:06

It’s quite onerous uploading an Instagram post.

Abraid2 · 25/03/2020 19:09

I wonder whether Harry feels a bit low at being so far from all the rest of his family at a time like this. Normally he’d be doing something to support charities and boost morale.

Pleasebeafleabite · 25/03/2020 19:13

How many people watched your wedding on TV OP?

1,900,000,000 watched Harry and Meghan get married. Safe to say I think that some people derive pleasure from the royal family.

How many 93 year olds are out there doing their bit for the country in the current outbreak?

How do you know the queen has not donated?

lyralalala · 25/03/2020 19:14

Just said on the BBC news channel that Charles and Camilla arrived in Scotland on Sunday and was showing mild symptoms. He was tested on Monday

They've certainly gone there for a specific reason. I just wonder if we'll ever find out what that is?

Wolfgirrl · 25/03/2020 19:16

@pleasebeafleabite

Not married yet, engaged, I suppose I could live stream it and see what happens!

Although they might have been watching with disgust/curiosity/ranting at the telly/boredom, who knows.

Kirsty Allslops was castigated for going to her holiday home.

That's what our fucking "Royal" family are doing - multiple choice question; which one shall it be?
Don't suppose any of them will have to be prioritised for a ventilator.

Off with their heads.

Wolfgirrl · 25/03/2020 19:24

@handbagsatdawn33

A dark end to a logical post!

How many 93 year olds are the British head of state?

What does this have to do with their lack of anything during this crisis?

alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 19:29

Yes she is 93, but if you cant do the job, you resign. I know Charles already does a lot of it, but a short filmed statement is all that is needed. She can do it sitting down.

And William should be much more visible.

Aderyn19 · 25/03/2020 19:29

I'd be interested to see how much the public gains once you take out their incredible security costs. Also, I vaguely remember it coming out a few years ago that the queen has a lot of assets offshore, that tax wasn't paid on? Think the accountants copped the blame for that, but I don't think the queen is unaware of her own assets

moondance19 · 25/03/2020 19:29

How many 93 year olds are out there doing their bit for the country in the current outbreak?

Pay them millions and give them umpteen palaces , ensure all their kids and grandkids get the same.......I reckon there’d be plenty of takers. Probably be too frail though after years of hard work and poor health.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2020 19:30

Oh, can you imagine the carnage if a significant member of the Royal Family has died ?

How many people would ignore the lockdown and make the journey to London?

Answer - enough to cause a problem.

cactus2020 · 25/03/2020 19:31

Couldn't agree more OP. Brits are a weirdly deferential, forelock-tugging bunch. I can think of so many better ways to spend the estimated £300 million annual cost of this family to the taxpayer right now.

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 19:33

70 yes there’d be carnage

definitelygc · 25/03/2020 19:36

Totally agree. There was a time when the royal family would want to be first to be seen to offer help in a national crisis. Now it seems all they have to offer is multi-million pound weddings and flashy Instagram accounts. It's materialistic, consumerist, celebrity nonsense and I have no idea why we all pander to it.

Lifeisabeach09 · 25/03/2020 19:38

Brits are a weirdly deferential, forelock-tugging bunch.

Haha. Really???

Oh. £300 million is an overestimate.

alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 19:41

Well wait to see how long until Charles appears again. If it really is mild, we should see him next week.
