The Royals jumping ship...

A virus pandemic breaks out in the UK. Everyone is essentially on house arrest bar a few essential occasions. Businesses and workers facing going bust. People dying every day. Hospitals overwhelmed. Surely this would be a great moment for a morale boosting message from our beloved royals, who we pay to keep in the lap of luxury? Oh wait, a little recorded message has been deemed a health risk to the Queen (allegedly).

Oh well, they can always volunteer Buckingham Palace as a makeshift hospital or hub for supplies, etc, as I'm sure they want to do what they can for their beloved citizens, especially now theyve legged it out of London. Oh wait.

Seriously what are these people for and why do we pay for them again?

Alex Salmond was cleared of all sexual assault charges - I assumed he was guilty - apparently not.

Well, unlike Salmond Andrew's never going to be charged let alone stand trial so we're never going to get a judicially tested answer.
Don't you think it's odd that he doesn't seem awfully interested in an opportunity to help clear his name though?

yesterdayhasgone · 29/03/2020 18:01

Yesterday - Your posts do give me a good laugh, you talk a load of bollocks. You don't know anything about our history, the monarchy, the Queen etc do you ?

Explain please, you mean because I’m not one of the brain washed sheep?

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 18:09

Don't you think it's odd that he doesn't seem awfully interested in an opportunity to help clear his name though?

Not at all. They have no integrity because they know they'll never be held to account.

Hasn't AS's own lawyer said that AS is a sex pest?

Srslydontgiveacrap · 29/03/2020 18:18

Yep and now Wills and Kate bleating on about some nonsense.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/03/2020 18:19

Exactly

Mamamia456 · 29/03/2020 18:24

Wolfgirrl - Alex Salmond was arrested and charged with offences.

UYScuti · 29/03/2020 18:24

he enjoys being able to do what he pleases without consequences, showing a desire to clear his name would send a message that he is answerable to the lowly peasants, he couldnt have that!

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 18:34

Wolfgirrl - Alex Salmond was arrested and charged with offences.

Yes and then acquitted. How does this relate to the RF?

Oh, yes. Quite. It was a tongue in cheek reply to the suggestion that His Royal Shiftyness is just casually assumed to be guilty.

Exoffice · 30/03/2020 09:49

anyone else got an earache yet from all the noise coming from our head of state over this crisis?

Wolfgirrl · 30/03/2020 12:03

@CathyorClaire

His royal shiftiness 😂 I shall be using that again!

Charles is apparently out of isolation. Good thing he flew up to his country house when he had symptoms, in a confined space with recycled air shared with the pilot and his security. He can now put his feet up and enjoy his Scottish estate with Camilla until this whole thing is over. Most convenient that he cant travel back to the capital.

OP posts:
Leighhalfpennysthigh · 30/03/2020 18:22

I do hope that all of the staff who have been in contact with him in the last week (who really believes he's been properly self isolating?) have had PPE and if they become ill get to access the same level of care and income.

Wolfgirrl · 30/03/2020 19:10

@Leighhalfpennysthigh

I presume they will now be at the mercy of the NHS. I cant imagine PC will be making them tea and toast while they recover.

OP posts:
Leighhalfpennysthigh · 30/03/2020 22:31

@Wolfgirrl I think so too. I can't believe that people are still defending these people.

Wolfgirrl · 01/04/2020 13:52

Has anyone seen the news about wills 'wanting' to join air ambulance again?

I think it's just lip service, buy reading it the public will think he has actually DONE it so he can go back to putting his feet up.

I really cant see it happening, and it blows the 'but he cant, his licence has lapsed and it would be a security disaster' theories out of the water! 😂

I support the royal family, but if they continue with this lack of action then there is no point to them.

thisenglishlife · 01/04/2020 14:02

He can't, a. security/infection and b. you need to have a certain amount of flight hours each year.

His local air ambulance service had to buy a new helicopter when he joined to suit his skills and co pilot status. Also, he isn't a medic and a fully qualified doctor or similar with continuous experience is going to be more useful.

Wolfgirrl · 01/04/2020 14:02

@alloutoffucks

I'm really not saying this in a facetious way, but I read a lot of 'I support them but if they carry on like this..' remarks.

What would it actually take for you to say, right that's enough, I no longer support them?

Just curious.

OP posts:
alloutoffucks · 01/04/2020 14:10

@wolfgirrl It is only just over a week into lock down. I guess I keep hoping they will step up and do their job. So if in a few weeks time they are still doing nothing or virtually nothing, then yes I won't support them any more.
I think everyone has to do their bit in the crisis, and they have a job to do that they are currently not doing.

Wolfgirrl · 01/04/2020 14:21

@alloutoffucks 👍

Fair play to you for not making excuses for them and being open to changing your mind.

OP posts:
Wolfgirrl · 01/04/2020 14:38

Charles has just released a short speech. And guess what? No offer of help in any form.he even has the cheek to talk about NHS volunteers:
However, we also know that in every community up and down this land - where people of all ages are being affected by this virus - there are truly wonderful neighbours, individuals and groups of volunteers who are providing ceaseless care and attention to those most at risk and that all this network of selfless assistance is, in itself, helping to provide vital support and reassurance to the hard-pressed professional services.

There we go, another useless but of PR for royalists to praise. That's Charles' work over for the next few weeks.

I just saw an article on BBC news, published a few days ago, about the Duchy raising rents so steeply the tenants struggle to afford them.

Looks like any rent freezes/charity food arent forthcoming then 😳

@Mamamia456 what do you think?

OP posts:
audreysview · 01/04/2020 16:54

Charles should shut up and put his money where his mouth is. The man has a fortune of just under £324 million. Give some back, you’ve took enough over the years ffs.
