These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

The paying money in cheques in at the bank is a good question. I have a few cheques accumulated as I only wanted to do one trip to the bank.

Banks will stay open, but most banks allow you to pay cheques in with their mobile app, or by posting them to any branch with a paying-in slip.

seekingwaxwings · 23/03/2020 21:21

It was BBC news, Vicky Young I think.

ifonly4 · 23/03/2020 21:21

In other countries, people have been allowed out for pet care, is feeding horses, vet's visits, dog walking.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:21

I think they should have added garages to the list as otherwise people will be unable to go out to buy food unless they are proposing to allow cars on the road without an MOT.

What list? They said what they were shutting not what could stay open.

BentNeckLady · 23/03/2020 21:21

And here you all are making excuses about why the rules don’t apply to you.

LoopyGremlin · 23/03/2020 21:22

My husband is a plumber who has several jobs booked in to fix leaks and a tank replacement for a nurse with no hot water. I take it this would be regarded as essential work? If so, he will need supplies from merchants, or B&Q at a push for some things, to do this work.

lyralalala · 23/03/2020 21:23

Fingers crossed they're working on another plan to bolster the police with the army because it's already clear people still don't think the rules apply to them.

SurpriseSparDay · 23/03/2020 21:23

Branster is there a particular reason why you cannot read every possible newspaper on the device you’re using to post here?

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:23

The bbc news should not have said that, unless they have more info. He did not say he was shutting offices, garages, factories etc. He said shops, places of worship etc. He listed exactly what will close and he specifically said people could travel to work if it was unavoidable and couldn’t be done from home.

CheriLittlebottom · 23/03/2020 21:23

MOT requirements have already been relaxed for HGVs, they may do the same for normal vehicles.

Ginkypig · 23/03/2020 21:23

I'm supposed to be taking the cat to the vet to get her bloods tested.

Would that be allowed?

I'm not really asking, I'll call the vet tomorrow. I'm just musing I think.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:24

I take it this would be regarded as essential work

He said work that could not be done from home.

Dollywilde · 23/03/2020 21:25

So I’m guessing I’ll be able to travel to my anomaly scan next week, as that’s essential medical care, but that DH won’t be able to accompany me? Sad

I don’t know how I’ll cope if something’s wrong with my baby if he’s not there.

Itsjustmee · 23/03/2020 21:25

Will Courts be open In particular Magistrates Courts . Anyone know

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/03/2020 21:25

I cannot believe (actually after the last 7 days unfortunately I can) that people are already talking about flouting these rules.

They are CLEAR

There are 4 reasons you can leave your house

3 dog walks and a run are NOT ALLOWED

You can leave the house 1 time per day for exercise. If you have a dog this is when you walk the dog.

If you don't ha e a dog this is when you go for a run

YOU CANNOT DO BOTH

And for those asking "how will they even enforce it if i do a b and c" you should be ashamed of yourselves. It shouldn't need to be enforced. These measures are being put in place so that less people die. It shouldn't need to be enforced, just do the right thing foe God's sake!

Bananabixfloof · 23/03/2020 21:26

B&Q isn't an essential food shop so should be closed

Why are people so desperate to get round these instructions

We have plans to redecorate a room, it was planned for June, but ya know if we're stuck at home for 3 weeks, may as well crack on with it.
Am not desperate but if the store is open, it's a time filler.

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 21:27

Will dentists be open ? My gums are in utter pain....

whatnametopick · 23/03/2020 21:27

A dog does not Need 3 walks a day to survive so it's not essential

stophuggingme · 23/03/2020 21:27

I am hoping - as a single parent to three children under 7 - and the owner of a dog that an hour of walking avoiding all human life form will be ok

bumblingbovine49 · 23/03/2020 21:27

*Well I would go for a bike ride for exercise. I can't get enough speed to get my heart rate up on a dog walk (cos she's sniffing etc).

So I have to choose between that and the dog. And dog needs 3 walks a day.*
It is pretty clear . For 3 weeks your dog should only get one walk a day and that will have to double as your daily excercise outside

You can do indoor.excercise to increase your heart rate

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:27

You can order from b&q online you don’t need to go in store.

Pickles89 · 23/03/2020 21:28

@Ginkypig

At my sister's practice they're taking case history in the carpark 6 feet apart, then the pet is taken into the surgery by them and returned to the carpark afterwards. Your practice might implement a similar rule but I'm sure otherwise they'll be business as usual.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/03/2020 21:28

Fucking hell.

He said:
You can go to work, if you have to ie you cannot work from home and it hasn't been closed
You can go to get medical supplies
You can get food
You can go out for exercise once a day

How is that not clear? Its very sad that the cat needs a blood test and the dog likes to be walked 15 times a day but they are going to have to lump it

lyralalala · 23/03/2020 21:28

We have plans to redecorate a room, it was planned for June, but ya know if we're stuck at home for 3 weeks, may as well crack on with it.

Why not crack on with it when your trip to B&Q doesn't put you, and other people, at risk?

yetea · 23/03/2020 21:28

@Branster, You can bank cheques on a lot of banks online apps now to help relieve pressure from branches if you're able to do this instead.
