These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

Yes @Billyeyelash

Collecting my DD from her dads house to come home?

AlfieandAnnieRose · 23/03/2020 21:07

It says to only go out and exercise once a day but who will actually be monitoring how many times you go out for a walk?! Not that I’m planning on flouting the rules, just curious

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:08

Yes I don’t think they can monitor how often you go out to exercise, I reckon they just want people to do it.

Branster · 23/03/2020 21:09

If newspapers will still be in print, how can we purchase them? I don’t intend to go shopping for essentials for at least a week regardless of what we run out of but today I got the paper for DH when walking the dog local independent newsagent with bigger that 2 m distance at till doing a well choreographed to and fro as their rule is now. Delivery service from now on if available or nothing.

crackofdoom · 23/03/2020 21:10

My MOT is due on the 28th. I put it in for the test last Wednesday. It failed on LOTS- mechanical stuff and welding. Today, I drove it to the mechanic's in the nearby town with the kids, and we caught the bus back to my rural village. I was due to pick it up on Wednesday, take it separately to a welder on Thursday, then try and get it in for the retest Friday or Monday. Now? I have not a fucking clue. Stuck in a rural village without a van. No idea how I'm going to get it back. I'll call the test garage and the DVLA tomorrow and see if they're allowing some kind of extension.

I also wonder if I can go to my allotment? It's within walking distance of the house. That's my chief form of exercise.

MadisonAvenue · 23/03/2020 21:11

We’re just having the discussion about exercise. I usually walk my dog three times in the countryside, he’s a large dog and needs this, and I go for a run.
I suppose a neighbour could report you.

My DH works for one of the main car dealers and they will Have a very few members of staff to fix and mot cars for key workers. If you’re not booked in with a main dealership I’d phone one tomorrow to book in with them

mummy203 · 23/03/2020 21:13

Will post office be open? Or the little post offices in local co-ops etc

Branster · 23/03/2020 21:13

Hansmum if they sell food as well then they can probably stay open. Nuts, crisps that sort of thing?

The paying money in cheques in at the bank is a good question. I have a few cheques accumulated as I only wanted to do one trip to the bank.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 23/03/2020 21:14

What about B&Q - need to make essential repairs.

And I need diesel as I can't buy food as I live 10 miles from the shops

LibrettoCornetto · 23/03/2020 21:14

Already idiots trying to flout the rules then. A dog walk will have to be your exercise. Live with it!

Skittlesss · 23/03/2020 21:15

Will B&Q be open?

DobbyIsAFreeElf · 23/03/2020 21:15

I've just bought a house, good timing I know! I'm wondering if I will be allowed to leave the family home where I'm currently living to go decorate the new house. I've already got all the paint and other supplies I might need. I can't get a washing machine, fridge, or furniture so will remain living in the family home until this is over.

unambiguousbeard · 23/03/2020 21:16

I'm due a survey on my house as we're about to exchange. What about that? And the allotment thing.

Anotheruser02 · 23/03/2020 21:17

I don't mean to be dramatic but if she would want to be at yours rather than her other parents I would get her now tonight just in case.

Hippee · 23/03/2020 21:17

I wondered about the MOT too - booked in for the 20th of April.

They've just stated on the news that only key workers can travel to work- this is clear as mud

lyralalala · 23/03/2020 21:18

B&Q isn't an essential food shop so should be closed.

Why are people so desperate to get round these instructions?

YoursTunbridgeWells · 23/03/2020 21:19

Thanks @ImfinallyaMummy sounds like German model

BennyVegas · 23/03/2020 21:19

Have you checked if you can pay in online? Most banks will let you pay in cheques online/via app these days

BiologyIsReal · 23/03/2020 21:19

There are only so many lists of dos and don'ts that you can fit into a prime ministerial message to the nation. The main thing was to get the key points out simply and clearly. They can follow up with the finer details via government web sites, the media and other communication sources.

Xenia · 23/03/2020 21:19

I think they should have added garages to the list as otherwise people will be unable to go out to buy food unless they are proposing to allow cars on the road without an MOT.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:20

They've just stated on the news that only key workers can travel to work- this is clear as mud

Which news? That’s not what he said at all, he said travel to work where necessary because it can’t be done from home. He didn’t say only key workers.
