Just checking in.
I currently have the virus and I need a positive thread.
Thanks

Aberforthsgoat · 28/03/2020 17:54

@ofwarren how are you? how are you feeling? I hope you are not suffering too much and come through it ok and quickly. Sending you all the get well and stay strong vibes, it's a horrible time x

ofwarren · 28/03/2020 17:57

@aberforthsgoat
I'm on day 5 and doing ok.
I'm not going to say it's nice, because it's not, but it's bearable. I don't have a temperature but have all the other symptoms.
I just can't deal with following the news at the moment and this thread looks like a nice distraction.

Aberforthsgoat · 28/03/2020 18:00

i' ve turned all my notifications and news apps off as it was terrifying the life out of me to be honest. I won't say the kind of stuff I was seeing as it does not fit with the positive frame of mind!
I'm really glad to hear it is at least bearable and I hope you come out of the other side very very soon - keep us updated on how you are
How did it start for you?
I hope you have some comfy pjs, a comfy bed and pillows etc and tv and books to keep your mind off it if you're well enough for that kind of thing

Handbaghag · 28/03/2020 18:07

I am loving an empty ironing basket. Not because I'm up to date but because now I'm not ironing anything due to us all being in 14 days isolation and working from home. It's usually only work clothes and T shirts I iron but now.. none! 😆😆

ofwarren · 28/03/2020 18:10

It just started as a cough and then progressively more symptoms. If you search for the "my lungs are burning" thread you will see all the symptoms. Everyone on there has it.
There are people on there too who are better now as well.

MinesaPinot · 28/03/2020 18:20

I've deleted Twitter from my phone and am sorely tempted to get rid of FB as well were it not for our village board. Mind you some of the stuff that gets posted on that is quite unsettling. I know people want to get the message out but I do wish they'd stop to consider people's mental health or anxiety issues before posting some of the more salacious or extreme posts.

On a positive note we've started tidying up our loft room, and we settled down and watched 'Finding Your Feet' on Amazon - a fab film with Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Timmy Small and Joanna Lumley. Really nice and heartwarming. DH in the kitchen doing his special spag bol and I phoned my 83 year old Mum who is fine and in good spirits.

I couldn't open the Washington Post article - can anyone cut and paste or summarise?

foxessocks · 28/03/2020 18:25

That link is for the positive news round up on BBC by the way Smile

Arcadia · 28/03/2020 18:26

Great minds @foxessocks I think I posted that earlier!

tobee · 28/03/2020 18:26

Anything from The Telegraph positive news page??

foxessocks · 28/03/2020 18:29

minesa that's what makes me so mad. And on my FB a lot of people sharing fake news with scare mongering headlines are the very people also sharing articles about anxiety and mental health...but don't they realise what they are sharing is making others feel anxious? I don't really get it. I guess a lot of the time they really believe what they are posting and are sharing it because they want comfort over it...I don't know? My new thing is every time I see anything I Google to check the facts, see if it's a confirmed fake news post, see if there's any truth there. Because I know I've been naive in the past and believed things so now I check it all!

foxessocks · 28/03/2020 18:29

Sorry arcadia I didn't realise you'd already done that! It's a good one though Smile

Siameasy · 28/03/2020 18:36

Yes! The main lady who is scaremongering round my way that I mentioned earlier has stated she has bad anxiety but I feel like she is enjoying the attention. I think this is the new way of being attention seeking.

Arcadia · 28/03/2020 18:44

@Siameasy or maybe very anxious people want to make others feel the same as them?

Arcadia · 28/03/2020 18:45

We're all anxious but if for example you were scared of flying you wouldn't spend hours pouring over first hand accounts of plane crashes!

M0reGinPlease · 28/03/2020 18:55

@Arcadia basically saying the risk from catching the virus from deliveries and groceries is so small it's not worth worrying about (with a scientific explanation of why). All those bonkers people on the other threads who are disinfecting their post are wasting their time!

Alsohuman · 28/03/2020 19:02

I think I’m very lucky with my FB friends. My timeline bears a striking resemblance to this thread. Everyone is posting pictures of their dogs and telling silly jokes.

Siameasy · 28/03/2020 19:05

Yeah Arcadia it’s the old misery loves company
But this person has been spreading fake news so there is an element of enjoying being the bearer of bad tidings.

Spudlet · 28/03/2020 19:09

It’s noticeable that many of the people on my timeline sharing the dooooooooom posts are also the people who share things about people throwing eggs and flour at the car to hijack you, or those bloody stupid ‘Put your hand up if your parents smacked you and it did you no harm’ memes... I like all of these people in person, but they seem to switch off all their critical thinking as soon as they go online Hmm

Come on, dinner time roll call.

We've gone full-on filth tonight. Southern fried chicken, pulled pork and onion rings in a brioche bun with cheesy chips on the side. Can't wait!!

Arcadia · 28/03/2020 19:45

Waitrose honey and mustard roast chicken here (tastes good when you had to queue for 20 minutes to buy it!) with carrots and rice. Very tasty!
No point me disinfecting post when DP is off working in the hospital every day! Grin

M0reGinPlease · 28/03/2020 19:46

Oh @Arcadia that sounds yum!! We managed to get stuff for a roast tomorrow and while I don't usually enjoy them that much I'm so looking forward to it! Plus, leftover chicken for Monday.

Alsohuman · 28/03/2020 19:54

Sunday dinner tonight. Roast chicken, roast potatoes and mixed greens. I managed to score some chicken gravy too. Chicken curry tomorrow and chicken and ham pie on Monday. We’ll be clucking by Tuesday!
