We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

Burnbabyburn1 · 23/03/2020 20:24

By you not doing it now is sending me over the edge

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 23/03/2020 20:24

Of course, I want people to be safe. I just don't know why we need a formal lock down and people can't stay at home

No, you don't. Because needless exposing yourself to other people, which won't be allowed in lockdown, thankfully, means the virus spreads, including moving house, involves several people. But as long as your plans go through.

Tonyaster · 23/03/2020 20:25

I hope its only a lockdown tbh

XingMing · 23/03/2020 20:25

@midwestspring, under the circumstance, I would propose the most severe lockdown possible if my objective was to save lives. On the evidence of most f the CV threads, I think it should be slightly slackened to only kill the stupid who can't see how any of this applies to them!

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 23/03/2020 20:26

Agreed. I feel the lockdown excites some people!!! It's lockdown, it's happening, blah blah... !!!! Calm down and stop getting excited.

The only one not calm and excited is you, because your plans are your top priority Hmm. People are dying, more and more and more of them. This is a serious threat to national health.

StealthMama · 23/03/2020 20:26

@BuyingaHome they were telling people to get back by 24th....if they can't then rescue flights will be provisioned thus stopping commercial. The bill today allows them to
Close airports.

MagentaRocks · 23/03/2020 20:27

I hope we have a lockdown and that there is very little notice. If there is too much notice people will go mad before it starts like they did when the pubs were shutting. I will still need to go out for work but apart from a bit of shopping for essentials and work I haven’t been out for a couple of weeks so I won’t notice the difference much.

DameXanaduBramble · 23/03/2020 20:27

It’s def happening.

Sammymommy · 23/03/2020 20:27

@Tonyaster What do you mean? What else could it be?

LaurieFairyCake · 23/03/2020 20:27

If Nicola is speaking then all countries doing it (lockdown with consequences)

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 23/03/2020 20:27

Lockdown is needed, the truth is saying its scaremongering is false, we the people need to know these horrible truths as to what's happening because it is a global pandemic and bojoke should of locked us down alot sooner, people are dying and are unable to see there loved ones, at times like this it shows how selfish some of the population can be. I'm glad all the holiday parks near me have closed as we have had loads of people down over the weekend when in fact they should of been staying at home.

Sunshine1239 · 23/03/2020 20:27

Scotland had just ordered clothes shops and non essential shops to close so I reckon that’s all Boris will order as that’s the trend so far - Scotland speak and then he does

keentohelp · 23/03/2020 20:28

Don't know why some people are still wondering if it's actually going to happen. I can say with complete certainty that he's about to announce it. Still allowed out to exercise though so that's a relief Smile

IWantToBreakFreee · 23/03/2020 20:30

Everyone was saying this was going to happen last week, apparently people had inside information. Boris came out and said no he would not be enforcing lockdown.

Would be surprised either way today

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 20:30

It won't be the stupid and the selfish who die.
It will be people like me who are already sick, and it will be doctors, nurses, paramedics and other front line staff - my friends, colleagues and family - that I can't even see except on skype atm.
My children have stayed away from me to try and keep me safe.
TBH I feel murderous right now.
Furious at the government who could have got going with PPE back in January.

MrsHardbroom · 23/03/2020 20:32

Every day we don't lock down will now cost 100s of lives.

Sammymommy · 23/03/2020 20:32

Oh shit, he's on his desk. We're going on lockdown. Good, idiots will be forced to stay home

GirlCalledJames · 23/03/2020 20:32

@XingMing I have been locked down for some weeks now and was just pointing out the rules. I’m not moving myself.
It’s possible to move safely and some people have to do it as they can’t stay where they are.

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 20:33

Boris on now. Finally, common sense prevails.

Catsrus · 23/03/2020 20:33

@tinytemper66 can your DS move in with you? my friend;s DD with Downs has been living in supported accommodation for years, living pretty independently, with support, working etc,. She has now had to move back in with her mum as she isn't able to protect herself by keeping to the social isolation rules.

MynameisJune · 23/03/2020 20:33

Lockdown is happening now

Pollyputthepizzaon · 23/03/2020 20:34

@BuyingaHome you were saying?

Tulipstulips · 23/03/2020 20:34

Bet you feel pretty stupid now, OP. are you listening to Boris?

Fantasiaa · 23/03/2020 20:34

This didn’t age well

ssd · 23/03/2020 20:34
