We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

I nominate this one for Classics...

Nameisthegame · 23/03/2020 21:10

😂😂😂 yes you are

Aquamarine1029 · 23/03/2020 21:11

Op's future as a psychic is doomed.

ivfbabymomma1 · 23/03/2020 21:12

@Aquamarine1029 😂😂😂😞

Pixxie7 · 23/03/2020 21:12

Famous last words.

excitedmumtobe87 · 23/03/2020 21:12

Can’t help but feel a lot of offices will still force staff in. Especially those who vaguely fall into the massive list of key workers which includes many non essential jobs. Hopefully not but some will take the mick and stronger instructions will be needed

NewYearNewTwatName · 23/03/2020 21:13

Barracker I was just about to say the same Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/03/2020 21:14

A friend works in sales for a mobile phone company in a 3000 seat call centre. They've been told they are essential Hmm

She is ringing businesses in the middle of all this asking if they want to buy phones because they are being forced.

nicenewdusters · 23/03/2020 21:14

OP. Shall I put that slice of humble pie in the post for you?

Even if Johnson only did that to avoid going down in history as being responsible for nationwide manslaughter, thank christ it's done.

I don't think my psyche will ever recover from the scenes witnessed this weekend. I can't neatly ascribe the actions to "thickos", many of my well educated, seemingly sensible and responsible friends were part of those mass gatherings. But of course, they were only there as they were just with family, and doing all the right things, it was just the other 2000 people with the same idea who ruined their isolated walk.

lilgreen · 23/03/2020 21:16

So op, you were saying?

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2020 21:16

He hasn’t shut factories and offices for a reason. He needs people to stop social interaction and he’s requested businesses maintain a min six foot distancining between employees. Clearly they then need to be smart enough to not then get close in their breaks etc. Closing all businesses would be a different type of death, we can’t afford to pay everyone’s wages, so business would go bust and people would have no money.

It’s social interaction he’s stopping and he’s requested businesses make sure working conditions are six foot apart.

ffswhatnext · 23/03/2020 21:18

@TheCanterburyWhales
I really wish we had a like button 🤣

Ellie56 · 23/03/2020 21:18

Does that mean right now? Are we allowed to leave for home if we're at someones house?

@lilmishap You shouldn't be at someone's house unless you're caring for someone. Hmm

MissPepper8 · 23/03/2020 21:20

I don't think it's scaremongering. My town, kids in groups of 20 hanging around in groups all day, breaking into buildings, knocking doors and running away. DH saw adults! Grown adults walking around in groups, in day light with cans, asking him for a light.

Our area is never like this, its gone out of control with everyone off work and school. I am petrified, I have a 5 day old and my health visitor tells me she might not come! I can't book our 6 week appointment, I can't get calpol for a toddler with an ear infection.

It's chaos and I'm actually quite worried now. People need to realise they need to stay indoors, stop hoarding and stop treating it like a holiday.

AuldAlliance · 23/03/2020 21:20

My PILs are French and they have already said that "most of their friends" just prepare several documents, put them in different pockets and remember to show the right version depending on when and where they get stopped.

No one in my (very provincial) little French town is doing that, AFAIK.
There is no one in the streets. Our 8pm applause at our windows is the one moment we encounter one another.
And it's small enough for the police to remember you from one check to the next and fine you 135e. The first time.

Alonelonelyloner · 23/03/2020 21:21

Epic LOLZ OP

Pumpkinsarepurple · 23/03/2020 21:21

Thismummyruns · 23/03/2020 21:23

CLASSICS 😂

Ragnarok · 23/03/2020 21:24

Scaremongers 😂😂

mumtumdocare · 23/03/2020 21:24

Pretty sure we are.

lilmishap · 23/03/2020 21:24

I'm at home with my kids.

But there will be people who are at other peoples houses, that's one of the reasons why we're having to do this Hmm

Port1aCastis · 23/03/2020 21:24

Wrong wrong and more wrong OP but tbh as soon as the announcement was made that bojo was addressing the nation at 8.30:I guessed what he'd say so did my family

nicenewdusters · 23/03/2020 21:26

And yes, definitely nominate for classics!

I suggest that from now on "we aren't going to lockdown" becomes a Mumsnet phrase for stating the absolute opposite of something that's bound to be true.

"AIBU to think my DH is having an affair? He sleeps with his phone, is constantly at the gym, is always away for work (he's a local postman)?"

"Of course he's not. Perhaps he's expecting an emergency call, and why shouldn't he keep fit? Also, some post is wrongly addressed, perhaps he's travelling to the correct city?

"We Aren't Going To Lockdown!!!!"

ffswhatnext · 23/03/2020 21:28

@kittykat7210
The only people who can answer that question is your medical team.

I'm surprised really that those with appointments over the next coming weeks haven't been finding out information already. Remember they have had to deal with their current workload whilst contacting the at-risk groups and ensuring things are in place for them.

They want you to contact them to find these things out.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/03/2020 21:29

It was clear from the press conference the other day when you could hear how frustrated he was that the parks and beaches were rammed that if people carried on like it was an extended Bank Holiday lockdown would follow.

This thread is like a pantomime
Lockdown, oooohhhh nooo we’re not...
Ohhh yesss we’re are...
Ooooohhhh noooo we’re not...
Oh shit, we have!
