There's speculation that he will implement a full lockdown.

How will this differ from what we're doing now?

I’ve just seen someone on social media assuring everyone that the new measures only apply to London.

Expect a storm of contradictory misinformation via the Russian Trolls and their paid contractors.

BTW, Less CV in Russia than in Luxemburg, officially. And who are we to doubt Uncle Vlad and his honest media?

StrugglingThrough2 · 23/03/2020 20:48

@MythicalBiologicalFennel post services are on going, they have stopped their universal service agreement. So if your personal postman is sick then no one else needs to cover their duty, in the past the agreement was every address in the uk has postal service 6 days per week. Now they are just doing what they can. Nearly half of our local postmen are sick / self isolating.

nauticant · 23/03/2020 20:48

That's been my view too NeurotrashWarrior. Whether that's to make me feel better I don't know, but I'll take the interpretation that they felt they had to do a ratcheting escalation of the restrictions.

StillDumDeDumming · 23/03/2020 20:48

There’s quite a lot of tricky situations here. I have been very strict to protect my vulnerable adult son, his dad and my parents. I’m not seeing any of them. But even then I may struggle. I do need to get dp some pyjamas as the person I asked to do it got the wrong size. Also I need to collect his lay dry from the hospital. I’ve only been doing stuff like that and no meeting up at all even at a distance apart from dd and we kept 3 metres apart (she’s 15).

FriedasCarLoad · 23/03/2020 20:49

IDoes the ‘one form of exercise a day’ include walking the dog? So I can only go out once a day with him, and then no other exercise?*

I’d struggle to find a different interpretation. Out once a day.

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:49

Places of worship being closed. Exception only is funerals and are restricted to.
You can't gather more than 2 people outside in the open (unless they're part of your household).

Jojo19834 · 23/03/2020 20:49

Why are people looking for ways to push this? Listen to what was said and help the country out. Stay home unless you can’t. It’s not difficult to understand. If everyone decides to push the limits we will be doing this for so much longer

TARSCOUT · 23/03/2020 20:49

@helenadove what do you mean by that comment?

Blibbyblobby · 23/03/2020 20:49

Will they keep the smaller food shops open as well? They've been a lifeline to me and others I know as the supermarkets are a total scrum.

Yes, we hardly use supermarkets anyway and round the local shops have been amazing for people shopping without cars while the supermarkets are ransacked by bulk buyers. It would be a real kick in the teeth for those shops to be closed and everyone forced to use the SMs regardless of how appropriate they are.

DeadBod · 23/03/2020 20:49

@ClientQueen we're wondering that as well. I can't drive to work in a car without a valid MOT and couldn't get it booked in any earlier than tomorrow.

toobusytothink · 23/03/2020 20:50

What about split families??????????????

LuluJakey1 · 23/03/2020 20:50

Why are people already saying things like 'How will they know if I went for a walk twice in a day?'

Just fucking do it - all of us. That's all we need to do.

Crazycrazylady · 23/03/2020 20:50

Any one know if off licences are included in the closures list...

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:50

Within days the police will be able to enforce fines - not yet - so read - Thursday.

BuckingFrolics · 23/03/2020 20:51

It's a nonsense.i could - but won't, because I'm not a complete twat - walk the dog at 7am, have a run at 12, and take the kids out for a walk at 4. And tell any police officer that the walk with the kids was the only time I stepped outside all day.

I can meet my friend for coffee at her house, drive home, get stopped and simply say I'm on route to Tesco's.

Not enough. Nowhere near enough.

chomalungma · 23/03/2020 20:51

What about split families

This.

StillDumDeDumming · 23/03/2020 20:51

@NomadNoMore thank you. I think they will stop visitors anyway soon which will be a nightmare because he doesn’t understand. I keep telling him but he doesn’t get it due to the brain damage.

nauticant · 23/03/2020 20:51

BTW, Less CV in Russia than in Luxemburg, officially. And who are we to doubt Uncle Vlad and his honest media?

I have wondered whether some of the authoritarian regimes are going to let the virus take its course, have 2% of the population, or whatever the reality turns out to be, die, mass graves, health care only for the few, and a very strong crackdown by police/security/military services.

HeIenaDove · 23/03/2020 20:51

What comment

toobusytothink · 23/03/2020 20:53

I’m not stoping my kids dad seeing them!!! For 3 weeks. Not fair on him!

cyclingmad · 23/03/2020 20:54

Oh fgs already people trying to push the boundaries, so be it but if you then get ill dont fuck off and ask for help cos you cant follow simple instructions

HeIenaDove · 23/03/2020 20:55

Someone couldnt help themselves by bringing up council tenants.

The ones who could never afford ski trips to Northern Italy!!

i responded with a comment about electric because they are more likely to be on key meters.

If they lose electric and their food goes off they will HAVE to go on MORE trips to replace it.

Not rocket science really!

tryingtoprep · 23/03/2020 20:55

Surprised he didn't close holiday/caravan parks. Hopefully that's a given

Hopefully not. The last thing we need is yet more mass movement across the country. Any empty holiday homes or caravans are also ideal to house women and children who will still need to flee domestic abuse - and also rough sleepers (many of whom suffer from respiratory issues).

Sounds like we have - finally - caught up with the rest of the worldwide. Very reasonable terms too. I desperately hope idiots don't push the restrictions. We're so lucky daily exercise is allowed. Some countries have had to end that because of people who refused to abide by rules.

NomadNoMore · 23/03/2020 20:55

@toobusytothink that's also acceptable under French rules and it looks like Boris has been copying Macron's homework

FromEden · 23/03/2020 20:56

Not enough. Nowhere near enough

What would you suggest? Literally barricading people into their homes China style?
