There's speculation that he will implement a full lockdown.

How will this differ from what we're doing now?

The anti-allotmenteur sentiment looks like dog in a manger to me.

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 23/03/2020 22:29

Here’s hoping they don’t need all that precious allotment space for mass graves ...

GabsAlot · 23/03/2020 22:29

i just read mots are suspended you will get a temp certificate so u can drive

adiposegirl2 · 23/03/2020 22:31

Boris is not the person for the job in these times.
Nicola Sturgeon is. Gordon Brown would have told us straight too.

Alsohuman · 23/03/2020 22:31

Don’t be stupid, burial is so last century, the crematoriums will be going 24/7.

supercee · 23/03/2020 22:33

@nauticant not at all. Just can't see that many people using allotments in Italy at the moment.

tinytemper66 · 23/03/2020 22:39

I can still go out to care for my son and make sure he gets some exercise. That is a relief. I don't care about me but I have worried about him.

cloudbutter · 23/03/2020 22:42

@gabsalot not true. That's only for vehicles such as lorries I believe

cloudbutter · 23/03/2020 22:43

@gabsalot i eat my words. Just seen the update!

GabsAlot · 23/03/2020 22:46

sorry might only be for ni but i dont see why it cant be extended

playthestation · 23/03/2020 22:46

Where did you read this?

CrowleysBentley · 23/03/2020 22:46

I'd imagine stopping flights will come soon. The foreign office has already "strongly advised" those travelling abroad to return to the UK ASAP.

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 22:47

If you can go to shop for food you can go to your allotment. It is common sense.

cloudbutter · 23/03/2020 22:47

Yes it's just NI.

HeIenaDove · 23/03/2020 23:19

Heathrow today

Exactly And yet ive seen aspersions cast on poorer communities on this board twice already The reference to people hanging around their council estates and another poster on another thread saying "it isnt working families doing this" in reference to the supermarket scrums and panic buying.

The narrative to try and shift the blame to poorer communities has already started.

But i dont think it will fly with photos like that one of Heathrow.

It wasnt poorer communities jetting off on skiing trips AFTER the fact.

endofthelinefinally · 23/03/2020 23:29

Stupidity and selfishness is prevalent among the rich and privileged just as much as it is elsewhere.

tryingtoprep · 23/03/2020 23:55

There's going to be idiots everywhere but I don't think it's down to their housing situation. People in council estates will be worried just as much as anyone else I'd imagine. They have elderly relatives too and plenty will have underlying conditions. In fact poverty is a major contributory factor in poorer health. Not that everyone on estates is poor. Likewise not all rich people are horrible. There's selfish or stupid or entitled idiots from all walks of life.

BeijingBikini · 23/03/2020 23:59

Also, kids ARE allowed to see both parents in split families.

We need more clarity. I’ve just been told that online retailers can continue to operate, putting me at risk being in an small office with others.

WorriedNHSer · 24/03/2020 07:35

I think people should be allowed to work on their allotments as long as it’s only one person per allotment at any time. We may need the extra fruit and vegetables produced. It would be awful to waste that food that many will share with their friends and neighbours.

Bittersweet12 · 24/03/2020 07:51

What do you guys think will happen with factory workers? Do you think they will order them to close? My OH works in a moulding factory that's still open as normal, do you think these will be instructed to close also?

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 24/03/2020 07:53

Michael Gove just said allotments are fine to go to on the BBC

Rowgtfc72 · 24/03/2020 07:56

@Bittersweet12
Currently packing fish in a fish factory for minimum wage. Were in for the long run too!

mumto2teenagers · 24/03/2020 07:56

I was planning on collecting DD from Uni at the weekend. Unsure whether I am allowed to now, would only be driving there in my private car and then straight back but seems she might have to stay put until this is over, all of her flatmates have left so I was rather she was home.
