Wasn't actually expecting it and feel quite upset.

I have 3 children, I don't know how this is going to work?

Oh op I can see why it would be horrible to receive that text.
You don't need to isolate from your family that are living with you. You do really need to remain in the house though.
Do you have support for shopping etc?

Thanks
dabossman · 23/03/2020 16:48

not for 12 weeks, but I thought we are all on lockdown for 2 weeks

Sweatheart · 23/03/2020 16:51

NHS Scotland have updated their advice to only include those on oral steroids - would be helpful if people could say where they are.

dabossman · 23/03/2020 16:53

I have been increasing all supplements including vitamin c to make sure my immune system is healthy and can fight off anything!

quirrels · 23/03/2020 17:00

No text here but I tick 3 of those boxes.

BigTikes · 23/03/2020 17:00

I’ve had the letter and it’s tipped me over info total panic to be honest. I’m on fostair for asthma but 2x100 twice a day. Not the stronger dose. I’ve had oral steroids in the past for flare ups and was admitted for an asthma attack over 5 years ago when pregnant but to be told I am considered extremely vulnerable feels terrifying and having two young children at home makes me feel like I can’t even do the things they are telling me to do to stay safe. I’ve already been as safe as I can possibly be so all this message has done is added a sense of despair to my life.

What is a high daily steroid dose for different inhalers?

Look for your inhaler in the list below (above!). If you are on the dose listed or more, then it is considered a high daily dose of steroids. This will help you work out if you need to follow the shielding advice above.

We have taken this list from the British Thoracic Society’s guideline on asthma management and information from our clinical advisers. If your inhaler is not listed, it may not be able to be prescribed at a high dose. If you think you might be on a high dose and your inhaler is not listed here, you can contact your asthma nurse or pharmacist for advice.

youcantellthem I've had a transplant and I had the text today....

unhappyclap · 23/03/2020 17:35

I have reeived the text, but no idea why. As far as I know I don't have any underlying health conditions, I am fit, normal BMI, had a baby in 2018.... has anyone else got the text but unsure why?

eliope · 23/03/2020 17:45

I've had the text, I have horrendous asthma which is probably now copd but I suppose I was hoping not to get the text.
I'm a social care worker, bloody love my job and this week I've so many shifts. My poor manager and team. I'm just a mess right now. At work and walking round like a zombie

Anydreamwilldo12 · 23/03/2020 17:46

Diabetes is not on this list. Does anyone know if there is a extremely vunerable and 'just' vunerable? Its all very confusing.
People need to know for work as many people with Diabetes have left work for 12 weeks due to previous advice

Tinypaws2 · 23/03/2020 18:08

I've just received a text message but I'm not sure of the wages side of things. I can't physically live on ssp is there any benefits what you can apply for during the isolation period?

Sweatheart · 23/03/2020 18:08

Are you all in england? Fgs it's not that hard to say what country you're in.

BigTikes · 23/03/2020 18:12

I’m England

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 23/03/2020 18:17

@Sweatheart
Wales here.

Sweatheart · 23/03/2020 18:22

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. Sorry, I'm panicking a bit.

ALemonyPea · 23/03/2020 18:25

I'm in England and on immunosuppressant chemo tablets

QueenMabby · 23/03/2020 18:30

I’ve had the text. The only thing I can think of is that I have vitiligo which is technically an autoimmune condition but I take no medication for it or for anything else and am completely healthy. I’m mystified!

AlunWynsKnee · 23/03/2020 18:32

@Anydreamwilldo12 I think diabetes is in the 'just' vulnerable group rather than the extremely vulnerable group. I have MS and I think I will be too which I assume means no text.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 23/03/2020 18:36

This is that number, my mum has it apparently it's a scam?

Diabetes is "just" vulnerable. You will get a text/letter.

woodchuck99 · 23/03/2020 18:38

Sorry! I meant to say you will not get a text/letter if you have diabetes.

woodchuck99 · 23/03/2020 18:40

I have MS and I think I will be too which I assume means no text.

It might depend on what medication you are on and how much you are immunosuppressed (if at all).

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/03/2020 18:44

Yeah

But as well as taking an inhaler at that stated dose you also need to be taking something beginning with M (sorry can't remember the name of it)

Hotpinkangel19 · 23/03/2020 18:45

Montelukast.
