So far I’ve thought of:

Drug addicts that normally shop lift to get money, what will they do?

People living a double life, they’ll have to choose one family to isolate with.

Err that’s all I can think of, but surely there’s more?

I think lots of companies will realise that they don’t need to travel the length of the country or fly thousands of miles to have a meeting.

People will think about food waste and will keep a decent stock cupboard.

Some parents will realise that boredom is good for children.

Ihatesundays · 23/03/2020 13:38

I think food waste in the short term is going to be massive. I’ve read about some bin men complaining about the amount of waste already going out.
Supermarkets are going to be more powerful than ever.

Road deaths might go down if no one drives!

Froq · 23/03/2020 13:39

Perhaps people will be less willing to start large families that they can’t control or afford.

GabsAlot · 23/03/2020 13:48

@Ihatesundays - yes. And other viral infections will drop too - normal flu (which kills 1000s in UK each year) and common colds.

Maybe street fighting from alcohol abuse will drop (though DV will probably increase Sad)

Wildlife will get used to crossing roads.

DGRossetti · 23/03/2020 14:01

International travel will pretty much stop. After this all countries are going to require visitors to demonstrate they are able to self isolate for at least 2 weeks in the event of an epidemic/pandemic. For most people that could only be done by purchasing a very expensive travel insurance policy. (They'd also have to cover themselves if they are unable to return to work and lost their job due to self isolating).

Canny investors should be anticipating a surge in UK hen and stag parties, not to mention holidays.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 23/03/2020 14:05

Lighthearted: The Good Life sitcom will have a revival.

Cheery, comforting and with a self-sufficiency theme...

FlamingoAndJohn · 23/03/2020 14:13

I would like to think that more people will develop an internal dialogue and will become more quiet and thoughtful.

WhoWants2Know · 23/03/2020 14:16

Looting is already happening. There's another thread on here about a school who had all their freezers and food stolen.

MamaRaisingBoys · 23/03/2020 14:16

Toddlers will be potty trained earlier. I was planning to start with ds this summer but I’ve been struggling to get the right size nappies. So whilst we’re stuck at home with no where else to be we’re giving it a go now

PersonaNonGarter · 23/03/2020 14:20

I also think Joe Wickes should get a knighthood. He will be helping thousands stay sane and keep their spirits up.

RainbowsandSnowdrops · 23/03/2020 14:21

Potty training 20 month olds! Smile

TheReluctantCountess · 23/03/2020 14:36

@froq I agree!

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 14:58

May also have increased breastfeeding rates if new mums are anxious about being able to buy formula.

sueelleker · 23/03/2020 15:01

If I get any quieter you won't know I'm there!

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 16:26

They will make a film or documentary about it in a few years time.
It would be hard to put much action in it though. If a vaccine is found then that will be documented too.
Authors will use this period of history in their new novels.

MrsSnitchnose · 23/03/2020 16:29

@thecatneuterer thank you! I worry in these uncertain times about people not taking care of their animals. I like my cats better than humans and I'm grateful to people like you who take care of them

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 23/03/2020 16:35

Definitely more divorces. Everyone i know is texting each other moaning about their spouse.

BlueMoon1103 · 23/03/2020 16:47

@The80sweregreat and @Squigean both of you summed up my concerns Sad

ADreamOfGood · 23/03/2020 16:52

@CorianderLord has the best response Grin

BeijingBikini · 23/03/2020 17:06

What will happen to all the pointless Instagrammers that take photos of their brunch and latest outfit while posing against railings? What about all the ex-TOWIE lot that make their living doing nightclub appearances?

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 17:11

It will be ' corona sad face selfies'
' homies' : that may get boring.
At least they can tan in the better weather.
I'm dreading the big ' corona celebration parties' in 18 months time. Featuring rich pop stars that have done nothing to help but happy to play the old hits at a big fund raiser for people.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 17:12

Yeah , Towie will become ' indoorie'

OutComeTheWolves · 23/03/2020 17:30

We'll all have lovely gardens.
Divorce rates will sky rocket.
Nits will be eradicated.
More people will be able to wfh.
Hand shaking will become a thing of the past.
