They've announced theyll be closed by tomorrow night.
I feel sad for the thousands of staff but also for us thst we've lost another part of our lives, my DS loves MacDonalds, it's part of our aider routine and something tbsts just for us that it's gone now. Not even like we can go for one last happy meal

I hope the lovely staff can pick up work in the supermarkets

If your son is tube fed then he definitely shouldn’t be going to McDonald’s! That’s a high risk group so he should be staying in.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 22/03/2020 20:59

Here

Sad MacDonalds is closing
Duchessofblandings · 22/03/2020 20:59

Good. I don’t understand why people think it’s perfectly ok for the staff to be exposed to risk.

SilverySurfer · 22/03/2020 20:59

In amongst all the horror of what is currently happening, all you can find to whine about is fucking McDonalds closing. FFS.

SFS

ilovecakeandwine · 22/03/2020 20:59

It's been drive through since Friday but closing tomorrow . Most are on zero hours contracts so won't get anything. My dd is a uni student has part time job . She's looking at one of the supermarkets now for something.

Jobseeker19 · 22/03/2020 21:00

I do think drive thru is open. They said they are going to donate their food locally.

bigchris · 22/03/2020 21:00

It's so important they close though

With weather like this people are driving through and then taking it to parks, beaches etc and still socialising

It's necessary to keep the teenagers apart too or they'll take the virus backwards and forwards

Well done MacDonalds

SleepingStandingUp · 22/03/2020 21:00

No it's all going, they announced online. Said for their staffs sfety. Fair play to them, so many will slog at it til it's gone.
Said front line medics and emergency services way free tomorrow and they'll distribute extra food responsibly.

I hope this doesn't affect Ronald MacDonalds charity

@Jobseeker19 no, they're shut completely from 7pm tomorrow.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 22/03/2020 21:01

Oh I best go and break the news to the kids

You mean they were expecting to go during a period of no non essential contact? Why?

sunshinemachine · 22/03/2020 21:01

are they still delivering

Daffie19 · 22/03/2020 21:01

Your son is tube fed but eats mcds??? 🙈

SleepingStandingUp · 22/03/2020 21:02

@SilverySurfer yes in amongst all the horror I have the capacity to feel sad that somewhere that helped my tube fed child eat, somewhere staffed by lovely kind people who now have no job is gone. I'm just special like that.

Many businesses will be killed off by this virus, but Maccie Ds isn’t one of them.

YABU. There will be Happy Meals a plenty when this is over.

Bluntness100 · 22/03/2020 21:03

Why aren’t they already shut? Surely they should have shut yesterday morning as ordered by the government?

mbosnz · 22/03/2020 21:04

Well shit.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/03/2020 21:04

@JuanSheetIsPlenty eh? I didn't say I fed him it every day, we haven't been since last week when he was still in full time school and we got take out.

goldenorbspider · 22/03/2020 21:04

Still feels so surreal

Idontbelieveit12 · 22/03/2020 21:05

They have been operating drive thru and collection only. I drove through the other day and got a coffee. No contact at all with anyone. But I’m glad they are closing now as they need to protect their staff. I think all non-essential businesses should be closing. My husband is still going to work and really shouldn’t be.

Tescodelivery · 22/03/2020 21:06

are they still delivering

A load of links telling you that they're shut completely and you ask that?! GrinHmm

SleepingStandingUp · 22/03/2020 21:06

Rftr I think it's good they've put their staff frontand centre of their decision making.

@Daffie19 yes, and?

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 22/03/2020 21:07

@Bluntness100 no they were allowed to be open for take out and delivery, same as everywhere else

Tescodelivery · 22/03/2020 21:07
  • @Daffie19 yes, and?*

TBF, I was wondering the same...
How does that work?

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 22/03/2020 21:08

eh? I didn't say I fed him it every day, we haven't been since last week when he was still in full time school and we got take out.

I didn’t say anything about you feeding him it. I said he shouldn’t be in it! He is high risk. He shouldn’t be going anywhere where there are other people!

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 22/03/2020 21:09

And I didnt even get my free NHS coffee.

It's clearly for the best. Shit for their workers, I hope they're been paid.

The world feels surreal.
