Anyone actually stayed at home?

Has anyone just stayed home, not gone out anywhere today?

I’ve kept myself to myself, been back to my empty home (caring for Df) to collect a couple of things

Not been anywhere else, no shopping, no going to the park etc

It’s not easy, but I want to keep safe

Yes, my husband and two kids haven’t left the house all weekend.

JorisBonson · 22/03/2020 21:56

We're both fit and healthy and not going anywhere unless absolutely necessary.

Popped to the shops today to get some bits for a self isolating friend and DP dropped them at the door. That's been it since Friday.

I'm a keyworker and have to go into work, but we're half in half out, so I'm at home for for next 3 days.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 22/03/2020 21:57

Well, we took the youngest cat for a little walk on his harness round the garden (he hasn't been snipped and chipped yet, and at this rate, we don't know when he will be), and partner (nurse) has just gone off to work, but otherwise, I've always been pretty good with my own company and a book/computer/boxset*

I did take a short walk on the beach last Thursday, when it was still nice and quiet, but staying away at the moment as several sources have said it was absolutely rammed. What an incredibly crowded little set of islands we inhabit!

Luckily we'd literally just done a shop and had a veg box delivery as this hit, but I'm not looking forward to the point at which we've used up that food and the exciting contents of our store cupboard (and no, we didn't panic buy, we almost always have oats and rice and flour in. Oh, yes. And the muesli. She said, without enthusiasm but with a strong sense of relief.)...Eyeing up the potatoes and working out which ones I might be able to coax into being seed potatoes, though we'll still need to get compost and something to grow 'em in....

I went to the shop to try and get printer paper but no luck. I also walked round the block with my 6 year old. There was no one else around.

Delatron · 22/03/2020 21:58

Activity and exercise though? Those voluntarily staying indoors how are you keeping active?
You are allowed out you know and can go to empty outdoor spaces. Your health will suffer.

Me

Bouledeneige · 22/03/2020 22:02

I agree eurochick but I guess I was a bit uncertain we were allowed until the press conference today. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer said that they recognised that fresh air and exercise were good for people's mental and physical health and that it was safe to be outside. What's not safe is congregating in groups and not maintaining social distance with people outside the family. Its quite clear that if people keep flouting the guidance we will be subject to more draconian measures and lockdown. The medically most vulnerable are now under the 12 week shielding measures. Until the rest of us are in lockdown we should get all the fresh air we can - observing the rules.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 22/03/2020 22:02

I have symptoms that's why we aren't going out. Plus like I said no garden. Not long left until we can go for a walk.

maggiso · 22/03/2020 22:03

I’ve only been in our garden and shed to plant seeds today. But tomorrow I’ll be back to travelling to and from work and face to face patient contact. It just seems so contrary - no going out when I’m not at work - but then squashed into a hospital with half of the county! And yes I have health vulnerabilities. I suppose if everyone that could stay away from others does so, then those of us expected to work are at lower risk.

Oliversmumsarmy · 22/03/2020 22:04

Been in since Thursday and since early February have only visited supermarkets when no one was around at 2am

Dp hasn’t been out for a couple of weeks
He is one of the vulnerable group (cancer diabetes and no spleen)

Dd and Ds have been working but both have lost all their work now. Hospitality and Events.

Ilovemypantry · 22/03/2020 22:05

Have hardly been out for about two weeks, just popping to shops for essentials and DH hasn’t been out at all for over two weeks (he is in vulnerable group). We live in a small close of just 7 houses and everyone seems to be watching to see who’s going out unnecessarily. Ashamed to say that DH and I find ourselves tut-tutting if we think someone is breaking the curfew!

recall · 22/03/2020 22:06

Yes, all of us since Friday .... no contact with anyone

CurlsandCurves · 22/03/2020 22:10

I went for a walk and to see if there was any bread in the local shop. There isn’t, but it’s not the end of the world we can do without. Luckily picked up a pack of reduced veggie curry snacks to stash in the freezer for a future curry night treat.

However I’ve just seen photos of our local tourist hotspots, all absolutely heaving with people. I despair.

AlexaAmbidextra · 22/03/2020 22:10

Yes. I haven’t been outside since I did some food shopping early on Thursday morning as soon as M&S opened. In store at 8am, quick run around doing just my usual level of shop and back indoors by 8.30. Having a stash of yummy food has cheered me up.

WeAllHaveWings · 22/03/2020 22:10

Walked the dog in the morning somewhere quiet.

Went to my elderly mum's house in the afternoon, well actually, not her house she stayed in that, I went to her back garden and shouted to her from there. 🤣

Ffs. There’s always someone ready to tell you you’re wrong isn’t there? My health will suffer a lot more if I get Coronavirus.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2020 22:15

I haven't been anywhere since Wednesday apart from to go in the back garden to play with our dog and to stand on the front porch to watch dh get something from the car. We are self isolating for 14 days plus have to be shielded for 12 weeks. We don't have another food for 13 weeks and our delivery order is getting smaller and smaller as they update it and everything is out of stock.

Dashel · 22/03/2020 22:15

Just DH and I, both healthy and no issues have decided to do the responsible thing and only leave the house for work (him, I work from home), essential food shopping in a few weeks and to get fuel.

So this weekend we spring cleaned and sorted out the garden and cleaned and washed my car.

We are planning on doing a lot of DIY, currently in the middle of a few projects, but the downstairs loo has just been retilled and decorated so toilet and sink need to go back in and woodwork painted.

We are also going to make a raised bed and are currently working on a list off big and little jobs for the next few months. That way if we need to take leave or have employment issues we can be productive until we are back working.

It also feels better being at home if the house is nice and clean

Dashel · 22/03/2020 22:20

As for excercise, I managed 14k steps today and 15k yesterday. There are loads of at home works free or paid, like yoga or HIIT or use house hold objects as weights or body weight exercises. There are so many online.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 22/03/2020 22:20

Stayed home all day, did rake part of the drive but didn’t go beyond the drive. Yesterday I walked a mile or so across the fields from home.

Delatron · 22/03/2020 22:21

You’re more likely to get the virus from a shop than a walk through the empty countryside. It’s about accurate risk assessment.

Magicpaintbrush · 22/03/2020 22:21

Yes, staying in with no intention of going anywhere for the forseeable - however DH is a key worker and will have to go to work, which I am scared about. He would also stay at home if he could.

catwithflowers · 22/03/2020 22:27

Yes. For the last 7 days.

GenxfeellikeaBoomer · 22/03/2020 22:31

yes, 2nd weekend of sitting in. Not even going to the shops.

Have to go to work tomorrow though.

The80sweregreat · 22/03/2020 22:33

Yes
