Anyone actually stayed at home?

Has anyone just stayed home, not gone out anywhere today?

I’ve kept myself to myself, been back to my empty home (caring for Df) to collect a couple of things

Not been anywhere else, no shopping, no going to the park etc

It’s not easy, but I want to keep safe

Haven't been outside Thursday 12th.
It feels like day 4572 of the big brother house

TeetotalKoala · 22/03/2020 21:43

DS1 and I went on a bike ride yesterday. Bring on a bike is a great way to maintain distance from people. DH and DS2 stayed in.
Today DS1 and DH went food shopping. Which seemed to be almost back to normal. They got bread and bagels! Then they put the roof down on DHs car and went for a drive through all the surrounding villages. DH said they had a great time. DS2 and I played board games, I mowed the lawn and got three loads of washing dried outside.
We're not self-isolating. DS1 needs to get out every day, he's like a puppy that needs walking. DS2 is content to be inside.

The three of them are in all day tomorrow. I'm working.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/03/2020 21:44

Yes - me & children haven't been away from home since Thursday. DH went out v early Saturday morning to get essential DIY supplies to fix broken fence post and braved Tesco for milk and eggs. He will be going into work twice this week to finish some work. He is working on finalizing a couple of new respiratory drugs before clinical trials, to help lung function, and is getting requests for lung cell cultures and potential drug molecules for testing with this Coronavirus. The site where he works is going to be closed from this week but he will be able to continue his work, so there will likely be very few people in, which also reduces his exposure to others. We have been in the garden today, and I've done three loads of washing. We are very lucky to have a nice outside space, and we have each other and we are well. Hoping very much it stays that way. We are also extremely lucky we can isolate and don't need to go anywhere for the time being. Enjoying the sunshine and counting our blessings.

EmpressoftheMundane · 22/03/2020 21:44

Yes. We stayed home all day. We have a back garden so we started putting some effort into making it nicer. We may be spending a lot of time there for the foreseeable future!

My heart goes out to little kids with no outdoor space, and their mums!

HowIrresponsible · 22/03/2020 21:45

No. I went for a bike ride. Didn't get close to anyone

MiniMum97 · 22/03/2020 21:47

Yes I've been in all weekend. Husband has popped to food shop twice. Otherwise he has stayed in too. Not planning to go out unless we have to for the foreseeable future.

TeetotalKoala · 22/03/2020 21:48

Oh. And I needed to go to B&Q yesterday as our front door lock broke that morning, so not something that could wait. It was absolutely heaving! Never seen so many cars in that car park. Everyone getting their things ready to get some DIY done whilst indoors.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 22/03/2020 21:48

Arf table desk 😂

We've stayed in for about 3 weekends now.

But I've been accessing shops, just before closing to grab various things I need!.
Eg fire extinguisher, floor wipes.

I'll have to go out tomorrow for milk and bread.
I really really wish I had brought a mask now. Some of them were decent quality, and really cheap weeks ago. I bet its too late now.

Dh mowed the lawn today, we are v lucky to have a good garden space. So the dc can get outside at home.

I can't get my usual ocado delivery so the next weeks will be hard trying to get food safely.

eurochick · 22/03/2020 21:49

I think it's quite concerning the number of people staying indoors voluntarily. We are at the end of a shitty wet winter which has kept a lot of people indoors even more than usual. Vitamin d levels in the U.K. will be severely depleted. It's so important for immune health to boost it. As well as exercise being important for physical and mental health. You can be outdoors and maintain distance from others.

EwwSprouts · 22/03/2020 21:49

Yes. We have been tidying the garden & watched a couple of films. Yesterday just went to one shop for a few bits for friend who is isolating.

Delatron · 22/03/2020 21:51

Agree @eurochick. We can get outside safely and it’s so important to do so if you can.
Why are we shutting ourselves indoors unnecessarily? This is not the government advice. Just the opposite.

cookiemonster5 · 22/03/2020 21:51

I wasn't planning on going anywhere but decided to go to Asda to gong instead of tomorrow so I didn't have to take the kids with me.

Want to stay in tomorrow but I need to collect a prescription for me son who has an infection but they only had 1 bottle of medicine on Saturday so I need to collect the rest.

Not moving on Tuesday though. Or the rest of the week. If we need milk or bread etc my husband can get it before if after work.

hm246 · 22/03/2020 21:52

Went to see my mum and grandparents. Didn’t go inside just waved and talked through the window Sad

nicenewdusters · 22/03/2020 21:52

Yes, haven't stepped outside my front door, just been in the back garden occasionally.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 22/03/2020 21:53

Funnily enough - yes.

SuperMeerkat · 22/03/2020 21:53

Not been out since Tuesday. Just me, DH and DS in the house.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 22/03/2020 21:53

I haven't left the house in 8 days with my three children. It's been really hard but manageable

randomsabreuse · 22/03/2020 21:54

Was going to say me as I didn't but actually DH had to go to the tip (moving in a week so essential) and do a bit of shopping (loo roll, bread, nappies so only essentials we couldn't get earlier in the week).

Apart from DH's work and another tip run none of us will be going beyond the garden.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 22/03/2020 21:54

Oh and we live in a flat so no outside area at all

CrowleysBentley · 22/03/2020 21:54

@eurochick we are taking vitamin d supplements, keeping curtains open in daylight hours and I have a sad lamp that I use for an hour a day anyway (often more, it's a nice light for doing cross stitch and embroidery or anything fiddly), due to the rarely getting outside thing. I think I might see if I can buy a couple more for DD and DS.

Doubletrouble99 · 22/03/2020 21:54

Not been out the house for 9 days. Had food delivery and some things from Amazon. Took a walk with DH and the dog up the road this afternoon though. I have serious health problems so best to stay indoors. Planning for 12 weeks at least of this.

Bouncingbomb · 22/03/2020 21:54

I think it's quite concerning the number of people staying indoors voluntarily

Most people have mentioned pottering about in the garden.

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 22/03/2020 21:54

Yes, not been out since Thursday.

CuppaZa · 22/03/2020 21:54

Me

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 22/03/2020 21:55

I had to go to the bank on Friday as a few of my final clients paid by cash and I had forgotten to pick up banking envelopes plus had coins. I was a nervous wreck, but I had to get a couple of items to finish batch cooking, though Iceland was quite quiet and all the adults kept a responsible distance. I won’t be out for the next 12 weeks, unless I’m walking a dog, all being well.

I go out every day to walk the dogs, but I walk a very quiet street and have either crossed the road to avoid people or they have. I walk on the road to avoid touching any cars parked on the footpath and use the ordinary council bins for the poo bags, rather than touch the lids of the dog poo bins. My last holiday dogs go home tomorrow but the client has to wait outside and the dog goes to them on an extended lead, which they disconnect and I then sterilise. Any of the dog beds, food etc will already be at the pick up area, so they are at least 10’ away from me.

My new mantra is, “manners CAN cost something. Your health!” So I’m very direct but polite in telling, not asking, people to stay away from me.
