Anyone know what time to expect it today? Is Boris doing it today?

I see the BBC have a Coronavirus daily special 4.10-5.40pm today so presuming it will be then?

Do you think we'll have any announcements today? I'm hoping there are more lockdown measures announced. I think it's time to shut non essential shops and enforce social distancing.

Its the herd immunity plan. Create bubbles around the most vulnerable and let everyone else get it.

EraOfTheGrey · 22/03/2020 17:41

My local country park has removed all parking charges as of last week and I bet it rammed today.

I think Boris is 'listening' to the science and ignoring the human behaviour element. If you ask people to do something or advise someone to do something then you make it optional.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 22/03/2020 17:41

My friend and I were talking about our husbands yesterday and we Were both heart broken, when we lost them a few years ago. However we were both saying how we were glad they had already passed, because we would have lost both of them to this, and at least we were both able to lie on their beds beside them, when they died. People will not have that comfort now. Those dying from this horrific illness are dying alone. I wish to fuck, people would wise up.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:41

The herd immunity plan, may I add, that the modelling showed would cause AT LEAST HALF A MILLION DEATHS!

Duvetday8 · 22/03/2020 17:41

So still nothing for self employed?

highlandcoo · 22/03/2020 17:42

This is unspeakable, wicked and wilful lack of leadership and intelligent decision-making.

AngrySad

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:42

And not be guaranteed to work!

God... this is fucking awful.

jasjas1973 · 22/03/2020 17:42

Johnson wittering on about "bring in the measures for maximum effect but not before" & "We don't bring in a travel ban before the epidemic has spread but afterwards!!!!!"

What a fucking clown.

PollyPocketLucyLocket · 22/03/2020 17:42

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily I'm so sorry to hear this Flowers

Wannabangbang · 22/03/2020 17:43

This is a fekking disaster!!

MamaGee09 · 22/03/2020 17:43

The government need to be ore forceful.

They asked people to stay away from pubs and restaurants and no one listened and they had to close them to stop this, to stop people being out and about there needs to be a total lockdown.

I met my mum-keeping our distance- and we went a walk along a path that is rarely busy and today it was mobbed! It wasn’t making us uneasy so we cut off and went different route where we didn’t meet anyone,

Mockerswithnoknockers · 22/03/2020 17:43

Today I are been mostly been reading about the Great Smog of 1952-3, and I am not liking the parallels.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:44

No effort to shut this down and implement testing and tracing.

Fucking hell.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:44

That reply about the police made it sound obvious that isn't in his plan at all.. FFS

Donald Trump's doctor was wiping his brow the other day, much talked about - wonder if he's got it. It seems so unlikely that Chris Whitty would defer to his deputy unless absolutely necessary.

The Italian and Iranian national medical officers both died of covid iirc.

Where is Prince Charles?
He met Prince Albert 9 days before diagnosis and PC hasn't been seen or talked about lately.

SouthWestmom · 22/03/2020 17:44

God his reaction! Like 'the police' what a kerrr-aaaa-zzzzzyyyy idea.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:45

He almost fell over at the suggestion of bringing in the police, that doesnt bode well for more forceful action.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:45

Or Chris Whitty decided he couldn't put his name on this U-turn back to the herd immunity plan.

MrsMGE · 22/03/2020 17:45

I'm really confused, could anyone help with an explanation please?

The NHS will be writing to 1.5m people asking to stay at home.

  • Is this in England only?
  • Are these people who will be written to the same group as those who have already been advised by the Govt to stay at home (i.e. people over 70, people with illnesses, pregnant women etc)?
  • What if someone should be written to but doesn't receive the letter, will they be helped by the Govt too?

We have elderly family both in England and in Wales, and I know of their neighbours who are on their own - we're helping at the moment, but no idea if they'll be getting the support from the Govt now too? How do we report if someone needs help?

Wannabangbang · 22/03/2020 17:45

Who is this bloody scientist exactly. Other countries think our goverment is murderous and they are very right. There is no herd immunity and according to China they've had atleast 2 people who've had this twice

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:46

This. Unless he was bluffing.. Hmm

With or without water cannons?

Memo to Billy Smart@ We need the lion-tamer with the whip, not the clown in the car with the wheels that fall off and the bucket of sawdust.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:46

Those people we've told to stay at home - now we're REALLY going to ask them to stay at home.

Wannabangbang · 22/03/2020 17:46

When his family start dying maybe something will change. Government think they are untouchable

middleager · 22/03/2020 17:47

Noeuf I know.
The police?
Lockdown?

"Outrageous blah blah blah
Go enjoy fun in the sun! We tust you to act responsibly!"
