Anyone know what time to expect it today? Is Boris doing it today?

I see the BBC have a Coronavirus daily special 4.10-5.40pm today so presuming it will be then?

Do you think we'll have any announcements today? I'm hoping there are more lockdown measures announced. I think it's time to shut non essential shops and enforce social distancing.

I'm hoping they end with closing non essential businesses Sad

Local Facebook groups have done more to support people than this crowd. And actually the whole thing is like Cameron's stupid Big Society rehashed

NordSjoen · 22/03/2020 17:21

Thanking those of us who are staying inside is POINTLESS. The ones not taking the precautions do not give a flying fuck that we are being thanked. Nor are they primary school children wanting to get a pat on the head from the teacher like the good children.

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/21/uk-hotels-homeless-shelters-coronavirus

to shelter the homeless

Mixitupalot · 22/03/2020 17:22

I actively dislike this man more & more everyday. Why can’t he speak clearly and with conviction!! Lay down the law you idiot.

Delatron · 22/03/2020 17:22

More of the ‘please stay 2 meters apart’ when he knows full well most people aren’t.

I want to see him angry and show a bit of leadership. Thousands are going to die because of these idiots ignoring the ‘advice’

He should just lock the whole country down quite frankly.

SouthWestmom · 22/03/2020 17:23

I don't think he wants to . He's trying to slow the infection rate down

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 22/03/2020 17:23

So what about the self employed? What about more stringent measures to stop all the twats wandering aimlessly around in shopping centres? What about the PPE for the NHS staff?
They have said nothing new.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:23

Why letters? My surgery called me earlier this week and told me to social distance for 12 weeks as I was in an at risk category. I'm a capable adult with a functioning brain however and truthfully ai don't need a letter to outline that I was at risk. Even before the phone call I had already predicted I would need to socially distance because it was clear I was in an at risk group.

TeaAndDarkToast · 22/03/2020 17:24

i think the message is if you don't care about standing 2 metres apart I am not going to bother with you because you leave yourselves open to this virus and ultimately it is survival of the fittest.

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 22/03/2020 17:25

Never thought I would say this but Donald Trump is leading his country better than boris.
He needs to look at the news and see how many people arnt doing the advice hes already given and needs to find his b@**s and lockdown the country like other parts of the world.

DoubleAction · 22/03/2020 17:25

So the "stay at home for 12 weeks group" doesn't include all the conditions previously mentioned in that context or those over 70?

It seems it will only be those who are already very ill?

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:26

Those fuckers. Those absolute murderous fuckers.

A week's delay in lockdown will make the difference between 10,000 deaths and 100,000 deaths.

And they KNOW this.

Loly365 · 22/03/2020 17:26

We need more signatures on the LOCKDOWN PETITION on Parliament website. 320 000 signed already. They all putting country in danger with all the advices, 50% of population will not follow...

Loly365 · 22/03/2020 17:26

hopeishere · 22/03/2020 17:26

It's very confusing advice. I looked at the list for DH but it wasn't clear. I'm going to get him to email his consultant for more advice.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:27

So the "stay at home for 12 weeks group" doesn't include all the conditions previously mentioned in that context or those over 70?

It's all been very confusing since the first mention of it. But yes, this appears to only be the very high risk and not just the at risk groups like - asthma, diabetes .

OP posts:
PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:27

They didn't listen when you asked the first time, they didn't listen to you the second time why on Earth does he think they will listen if you ask them again nicely.Hmm

VivaLeBeaver · 22/03/2020 17:28

Some sensible questions from the press but the flunky on the left is dodging answering them.

Delatron · 22/03/2020 17:28

And yet again he hands over the difficult questions and they don’t answer the question!

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:28

How will it work on a practical level?

It won't.

Three weeks from now, this country is going to fall over and stop working.

NordSjoen · 22/03/2020 17:29

Aargh but the point is the people not standing 2m apart may well send their kids to school because they are key workers - potentially giving it to the other children, staff who will then take it home. Or touch a door handle / PIN pad / handrail / box of cereal which is then touched by an NHS worker in the golden shopping hour before work who takes it onto a non-corona ward or even just into a hospital office. It’s those idiots who are flouting this and putting more people at risk that need to be spoken to in words of two syllables over and over and over.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:29

Those fuckers. Those absolute murderous fuckers

This. I feel heartbroken. I work in a completely non essential shop, I feel utterly sick to my stomach to be working tomorrow at this stage, I wanted actual proper measures at this point and more closures.

OP posts:
Delatron · 22/03/2020 17:30

Of course toddlers can’t observe a two meter rule and of course they should shut playgrounds.

PicsInRed · 22/03/2020 17:30

Where is Chris Whitty?

Why is his deputy there?

Is he unwell?
