Anyone know what time to expect it today? Is Boris doing it today?

I see the BBC have a Coronavirus daily special 4.10-5.40pm today so presuming it will be then?

Do you think we'll have any announcements today? I'm hoping there are more lockdown measures announced. I think it's time to shut non essential shops and enforce social distancing.

Christ We are all doomed. The complete incompetence is truly shocking.

VivaLeBeaver · 22/03/2020 17:30

He says if people can’t be sensible of course they will look at other measures.

But he knows people aren’t being sensible so why doesn’t he do something?

grauduroi · 22/03/2020 17:30

They are ignoring the 2m apart rule, so why will the average person?

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:31

Why are they not enforcing non essential shop closures at this point??

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 22/03/2020 17:31

I think the 1.5 million are the ones are listed below:

People falling into this group are those who may be at particular risk due to complex health problems such as:

people who have received an organ transplant and remain on ongoing immunosuppression medication
people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radiotherapy
people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia who are at any stage of treatment
people with severe chest conditions such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma (requiring hospital admissions or courses of steroid tablets)
people with severe diseases of body systems, such as severe kidney disease (dialysis)

Cinammoncake · 22/03/2020 17:32

He needs to be far, far clearer. Too much waffle.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:32

He didn't answer that question about playgrounds properly at all. Where is this scientific advice that says keeping them open is better for our health than closing them. You can still exercise without a playground. Its obvious people are not going to take it seriously they have had to close national trust gardens as people are not following advice.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:32

Herd immunity. The fuckers are doing it.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 22/03/2020 17:33

If the four year olds cannot keep 2 metres apart, 'we shall have to think about' closing the parks.

We need a coup and we need it now.

libra101 · 22/03/2020 17:34

Boris is broadcasting now!

Mockerswithnoknockers · 22/03/2020 17:35

He needs to be far, far clearer. Too much waffle.

Thoughts turn to leopards and spots.

EraOfTheGrey · 22/03/2020 17:35

*More of the ‘please stay 2 meters apart’ when he knows full well most people aren’t.

I want to see him angry and show a bit of leadership. Thousands are going to die because of these idiots ignoring the ‘advice’

He should just lock the whole country down quite frankly.*

^This. I think its a 51% v's 49% scenario of idiocy v's informed and sensible. I think the problem in this country is that the News is optional. News has a push or fetch option too, you are either informed because you seek to be or you can easily avoid it. The News simply isn't getting through and Boris is refusing to push it.

Anotheruser02 · 22/03/2020 17:35

We need a coup and we need it now. I think you're right.

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 22/03/2020 17:35

I think it's an oxymoron that they are holding in person press conferences, it doesn't really give the right message about staying apart from each other. Wonder how many people are in that room?

Wannabangbang · 22/03/2020 17:36

I think there needs to be someone else in charge. This is manslaughter of the highest order, the nhs are putting their lifes on the line and they allow people to carry on without real rules or lockdown. I fear for my family because no one here is following advice, too many people out in groups. Seafronts full of people gathering, selfish people allowed to mix continuously and move where they want in the country and the pm and his cronies sit back and watch this all happen. Wheres Chris Witty today, has he caught it i wonderHmm. In a week they will so wish they'd made stronger powers.

I can't walk my dog because too many fekking groups are out. And going shopping im not risking it until we run out of absolutely every thing.

Our streets are now a petri dish full of selfish people soon to be corona filled very soon.

swishthecat · 22/03/2020 17:36

Herd immunity. The fuckers are doing it.

Yep, I think you're right nellodee.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 17:36

God help us. Honestly. God help us.

We're basically being asked to take our chances on recovering from this without any hospital care. Because there won't be any.

They KNOW what they are doing. They KNOW people aren't following the advice.

What the FUCK are they waiting for?

I am sorry. I am just so angry.

middleager · 22/03/2020 17:37

Isolation isn't good for one's MH.
Says PM

Neither is seeing selfish, arrogant fuckers killing us all.

London is seeing a steep.increase.
Yet please encourage us to "enjoy" ourselves in parks Confused

PM has used the word "enjoy" twice and that's the problem.

Now is not the time to enjoy FFS.

sociallydistained · 22/03/2020 17:38

We can see what happens but we aren't going to prevent it until then numbers are high enough? This is so sad

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:38

They are ignoring the 2m apart rule, so why will the average person?

Loads. If you watch the news every day following the briefings they show those asking questions. I would estimate there are about 30+ people in the room including journalists, camera people andvthose on stage. Its simply depressing that they spout this shit and dont follow their own advice.

evilharpy · 22/03/2020 17:38

There were quite a few massive car boot sales open both in England and NI this morning (no idea about Scotland and Wales) with the organisers being completely unrepentant. The absolute bastards. All that cash changing hands, people crowding over the bargains... I don't want a lockdown (who does?) but it's the only way to stop stupidity like this. I'm surprised at Boris, I thought it was coming.

SouthWestmom · 22/03/2020 17:39

Maybe if they were testing us they'd have a better idea of when. Ant why the hell have we left it this late for the shielding thing? I don't understand his reasoning.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 17:39

So shielding is our maximum effort? Hmm

OP posts:
PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 17:40

Appologies my last comment was meant to relate to hoe many people were at this briefing that someone asked, copy paste didnt work. Grin
