Anyone know what time to expect it today? Is Boris doing it today?

I see the BBC have a Coronavirus daily special 4.10-5.40pm today so presuming it will be then?

Do you think we'll have any announcements today? I'm hoping there are more lockdown measures announced. I think it's time to shut non essential shops and enforce social distancing.

OP posts:
floatygoat · 22/03/2020 19:26

@Pishposhpashy that definitely isn't right. Keep him away.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 19:27

Salud you really don’t have a PhD I’d stop saying that if you’re going to post as you do. Or vice versa.

Pishposhpashy · 22/03/2020 19:28

Thank you float, that is exactly what I and my mum have been saying but it is easy for he and my sister to pull the "you're not doctors" card.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 19:28

Nobody except extremely vulnerable are requiring hospitalisation.

Thats simply not true any more. People without underlying health conditions have died. The fact some people seem determined to minimise covid-19 is exactly why we need a lockdown.

Eggcited · 22/03/2020 19:29

Nobody except extremely vulnerable are requiring hospitalisation.

I'd love to see your source for this.

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:29

Pishposh - I'd agree with him. Unless anyone is high risk, we're all going to get this at some stage. 98% of people are managing it at home. Probably a higher percentage - haven't seen today's stats. Just isolate yourselves once/if you get it.

Pishposhpashy · 22/03/2020 19:30

But salad- that isn't what the government have said

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:30

Marsha - why are you particularly interested in my PhD?

Forza14 · 22/03/2020 19:31

And so what if they pass it on to healthy people?

Good grief. Your posts are phenomenally stupid.

We are all a link in a chain, dear. We are all only 10 links away from infecting someone WHO WILL DIE.

Sit down and be quiet. You’re embarrassing yourself.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 19:31

That’s the thing. I’m not.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2020 19:31

Salud that isn’t true

There are young healthy adults who are in hospital needing treatment the majority are not but they are not immune to becoming very ill

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:31

But salad- that isn't what the government have said

Read between the lines.

Until now there are so many stupid people didn't even realise the serious consequence of this Virus. It's not funny. It's a war against invisible dangerous virus. The later to take action lock down, the more people die.

Sammymommy · 22/03/2020 19:31

"I am in a low paid but essential job that still needs doing if we have a lock down and DH is working from home, I have nothing to gain personally from a lock down but I think we need it if we want to save a meaningful number of lives."

But Salud has a PHD in Psychology, so she knows better than you I think.. You want the lock down for money, stop arguing.

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:32

Rabbit - UK is locking down vulnerable people ahead of most countries.

slashlover · 22/03/2020 19:32

Just isolate yourselves once/if you get it.

The point is that if people don't get comply with social distancing then lots and lots of people will get it and the country will grind to a halt. Then who will help the vulnerable?

Forza14 · 22/03/2020 19:33

I'm not going to credit that with a response

Trust me, you really don’t have to. Really.

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:35

slashlover - do you think the country won't grind to a halt under lockdown?

Eggcited · 22/03/2020 19:35

@Salud

I'd like the source for this please.

Nobody except extremely vulnerable are requiring hospitalisation.

Forza14 · 22/03/2020 19:35

If you actually had a PhD you’d have some respect for the advice from other PhDs in the fields of medicine & virology etc.

You don’t. So stop it.

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:35

Trust me, you really don’t have to. Really.

I know.

slashlover · 22/03/2020 19:39

slashlover - do you think the country won't grind to a halt under lockdown?

No, Other countries have proven that it can work. People are still allowed out in short amounts for essentials but can't go around wandering out to their mates house. NHS workers can do their job without a massive influx of patients.

Snowy111 · 22/03/2020 19:41

Those fuckers. Those absolute murderous fuckers

This

If they announce lockdown tomorrow I’ll forgive them. Otherwise I’ll be convinced it is their intention to rid society of the Vulnerable, for economic reasons. And they will blame science and society.

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:45

Just go into Waitrose first thing in the morning and you'll see what people really are.
