Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

I have never had a fever. I told the Gp I had a tight and painful chest, cough, no fever, but was having periods of confusion eg was struggling to remember how to use a knife and fork. I continued I have a blue inhaler and I said that had helped with the confusion and wondered if it was low oxygen levels. He said he couldn't tell without a monitor. I continued I was questioning if perhaps I was nearing pneumonia and not getting better. Nb I also have a nasty hernia so I need to keep well.

He was the one, who suggested the antibiotics and I said yes, that was my thinking too which is why I’d called him as if done everything I could - nebulising saline, which usually stops sinusitis / bronchitis etc - I used to get them 3 times a year. His attitude was very much, if this is bacterial it will help, if not, it’s not a big deal to have a week of antibiotics.

The thing is, it’s possible for something to be viral and then turn bacterial if it doesn’t clear. This is what used to happen with me with every cold. As the Gp isn’t even seeing you face to face.

In your shoes, I’d ask if the Gp could just give you some and see. Ask him how many days you should take if it is clear it isn’t working. GPS shouldn’t just be presuming this is viral and nothing will work especially as they’re only doing phone consults. I’d be getting a second opinion or even consider paying and consulting an online gp If you want to try them. I’m sure you understand the reluctance to give unnecessary antibiotics...

GidgetGirl · 26/03/2020 18:09

@IdrisElbow Yep, sounds very much like what I’ve had for the past 8 days or so. Hoping it’s just some kind of cold, but it’s certainly not like any I’ve had before. Today a weird burning sensation in my lungs/throat for the first time, coughing more, and a bit of tightness and pain when breathing.
Would love to know if it’s something or nothing, but time will probably tell..

Pinkpromise · 26/03/2020 18:45

I’ve been in two minds about whether my symptoms have been the Coronavirus. I had no fever but my temperature is usually pretty low and it has been higher than normal. I’ve had a very slight cough but experienced burning in my lungs, pressure on my chest, strange headaches, a runny nose, sore throat and just felt strange.
I was thinking it could be another virus but I’ve just been talking to my aunty in Italy and one of my cousins plus a large number of my aunt’s students (she’s in touch with them by phone) have all had the same symptoms.

KingaRoo · 26/03/2020 18:56

@Pinkpromise my symptoms are the exact same as yours. My normal temp is around 36 and it is has gone up to 37.3 so although the NHS would say that's not a temperature it's a lot higher than usual for me. Also slightly dizzy/out of body/light -headed at times. I have low blood pressure so that could be why.

My main symptom is chest tightness which I've now had for 11 days. Only had a slight cough for the past 2 days. Gets much worse in the evening.

Pinkpromise · 26/03/2020 19:00

That’s exactly what the NHS told me about my temperature KingaRoo.
Hope you feel better soon.

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 19:05

Thanks Pinkpromise that's interesting. I've had a headache too (unheard of for me) but again not horrendous. I hope all the family in Italy are okay

Wacadu · 26/03/2020 19:08

@KingaRoo that is exactly what is happening to me just now.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 26/03/2020 19:19

I'm all for holding back on antibiotics but is that war worth fighting right now?

Surely people just need everything throwing at them to help then recover. It's great so many are feeling better after antibiotics but it's worrying that some people can't access them.

Pinkpromise · 26/03/2020 19:24

Thanks Inanocado, as others have said, it would be great if we knew one way or another.
I do get migraines but these headaches weren’t anything like I’ve had before.

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 19:26

Why do symptoms get worse in evening? Chest pains and breathless again

longshot · 26/03/2020 19:26

Good point about antibiotics, could be worth trying. We could really do with a GP on this thread!

Is anyone else bloated? And feel like their boobs have got bigger? I know this us probably just hormonal or weight gain from being inside for 8 days!

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 19:33

I was given an inhaler and that relieved my chest tightness. Only had to use it for a couple of days.

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 19:40

Which antibiotics do they give you?

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 19:43

@InanOcadoQueue was that through your GP?

InanOcadoQueue · 26/03/2020 19:45

casino218 yes. I spoke to the GP on the phone and that's what I was prescribed.

onlinelinda · 26/03/2020 19:48

Just chest pains and breathless here. Bit chilled this morning but actually temp fine this time,so unsure why.

Went to sit in garden a bit. Then rang my poor doc again as blood on tissue. She looked via email and said that it was just from a small vessel , from coughing, and nothing to worry about. Although I'm not coughing much at all so I suspect it's from the strain of the repeat peak flow tests. Please note for safety reasons- it was only a tiny bit.

Hope everyone is hanging in there x

stayathomegardener · 26/03/2020 19:51

@Throughabushbackwards thanks for the update from your GP.

When you have a little more energy would you mind listing your symptoms.

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 19:52

I'm ringing GP tomorrow for an inhaler it may help

Littleninja1 · 26/03/2020 19:54

Been feeling really light headed, drowsy and spaced out for a couple hours now after a good morning. My chest feels good, only mild pain. I feel like I'm breathing fine but am experiencing the symptoms of not breathing well, if that makes sense. Anyone had this? Day 14.

IpanemaGallina · 26/03/2020 20:15

My fever is so bad tonight. Just taken more paracetamol. Anyone else feel like they couldn’t get fever down. Day 4/5 for me.

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 20:18

@IpanemaGallina I had that around day 6/7. It was not going down with paracetamol and i had to do cold compresses which really helped. How high is your temperature?

blossombabies · 26/03/2020 20:21

i was given antibiotics and it helped me. i was diagnosed with viral chest infection.

dreamm · 26/03/2020 20:23

I'm day 4 and feeling panicky. My chest is burning. It's so scary. My temp has been up for the past 4 days.

IpanemaGallina · 26/03/2020 20:26

I only have a v old thermometer, says 36 c
