Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

I prematurely checked out of this thread at day 8 as I felt like i was on the mend. MISTAKE. Am on day 13 now and feel bad - fever, aching limbs, exhaustion, chest pain. Its just so odd the way it keeps coming and going. Days 9-11 i felt almost normal.
Will catch up on how everyone is doing. These threads are so helpful.
Get well soon everyone.

littlemissmuffins · 26/03/2020 12:11

Does anyone else have a gritty throat feeling?? And if I run my tongue over the back of my throat there are parts that actually are raised with like tiny particles of grit.

tangledyarn · 26/03/2020 12:17

@littleninja Yeah spot on! Flowers I'm getting lots of resources sent to me that are being developed to review for our service but haven't felt well enough to do that yet but I'll link to anything useful when I can.
-The key things I'd say would be to focus your attention away from your body as much as you can, watch and listen to things, text friends, play games on your phone, sleep, imagine yourself in a safe and calming place and definitely don't read the news or research symptoms!

Helpful to remember that whilst breathlessness can be very scary it doesn't mean we are in imminent danger, it's just our body's way of looking after us right now. We can get through this and then we will have the super power of immunity..think of how great that will be Xxx

longshot · 26/03/2020 12:20

@Joeaj23 welcome! You sound like me..day 16 here and similarly thought I was recovering and feel I’m slipping back a bit.

I spoke to a friend earlier who is a GP, I haven’t bothered him before but he mentioned that for many people this is taking 3 weeks to clear and also that chest tightness / aches can be the last symptom to go. He basically said if you are starting to feel a bit better one day and then slip a bit but then the next day will improve a bit more and so on. This relieved me a bit. I think all the scary stories everywhere are not helping. I wish there were more people out there saying ‘it was horrible and took me 4 weeks to recover but I’m ok’. Has anyone read any stories at all on recovery??

And user you are doing great..I always try to remind myself when I'm having a terrible time in my life (as cheesy as it is!) that "One day today will be a very long time ago" Xxx

Posting for advice

I work for a&e so see the worst of the worst and need to rationalise.

My dad (64) asthmatic started yesterday with a productive chesty cough.
Not very short of breath.
Gp has prescribed antibiotics.

Today he has vomiting and loose stools. Chesty cough still.
He lives with my mum who is off for 12 week and shielding due to being immunocompromised.

What the hell do I do?
I'm so worried for my parents

Littleninja1 · 26/03/2020 12:29

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast your poor dad, I hope he feels better soon. If it's any comfort, that doesn't sound like any of the symptoms we've had so perhaps it is a chest infection as the GP suspects. If he started the antibiotics then these can often cause stomach issues I believe? Can you phone your GP?

None of us has had a chesty cough I think. It sounds awful for your dad but hopefully your mum is not at risk from this Flowers

treedragon · 26/03/2020 12:32

I think I’m going to seek treatment for my health anxiety. Even if it’s private.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 26/03/2020 12:34

Carrotcake I'm sorry to hear your dad's not well. Mucus can cause stomach upsets and vomiting, I've had that before with a chest/sinus infection.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 26/03/2020 12:42

That's a relief, I'm just beside myself with worry just in case.
I know a lot of us will get it but I'm concerned that neither of my parents would do well.

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 12:56

@Tangledyarn thank you for the very helpful advice. I agree reading a book isn't helpful when you are panicking but staying away from corona news is most important. I want to read positive stories only!

findingschools4myboys · 26/03/2020 12:57

Thanks for checking in on me!
The tests were cancelled and we were refunded so I am non the wiser.
I am still suffering with vertigo which is very annoying and I would really like to completely be over this. I think I am day 16.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 26/03/2020 13:09

of course you are, Carrotcake. It's an odd one, but mucous irritates the stomach when you clear your throat/lungs/cough and swallow. Sorry, a bit yuck but that's the mechanism. Hope he's better soon.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 26/03/2020 13:09

@longshot has your fever gone yet? I am on day 13 so far. Every day I have run a fever so far. No fever yet today though I fully expect one later.

GidgetGirl · 26/03/2020 13:10

Hi all. I may of course just have some kind of nondescript virus, but I’m also anxious it’s covid - albeit a very mild case so far.

About 7 days ago I started feeling a bit ‘off’ in the evenings - like I had a cold coming on. Flushed face, headache, minor chills. It was very intermittent - I’d feel rubbish for a couple of hours, then totally normal again. Felt fine during the daytime until about three days ago when it got worse and I was feeling poorly (but not dreadful) all day. Intermittent low-grade fever, constant headache, earache, low energy, bit of diarrhea.

I felt rubbish most of yesterday then it just kind of disappeared at about 6pm, and I still feel ok now but I’m just beginning to develop a cough. Ordinarily I wouldn’t think twice about any of this, but I’m also aware I could be in that twilight zone in between getting standard cold/flu-like symptoms and the really unpleasant lung issues starting.

I’m 35 and mostly terrified that I’ve got it in case I’ve given it to my partner (60). He doesn’t have any health issues, but the potential guilt is eating me up.

tupperwaretowers · 26/03/2020 13:10

Stabby chest pains on day 13. Never had a temp or cough. Various mild symptoms. Is this just how It goes now?

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 13:12

Just got old of a pulse oximetry to check my oxygen levels. I'm day 17. I have a tight chest but my saturation levels are 97% so I'm happy that although I have this tight feeling my body is getting sufficient oxygen plus I had just been walking around.

longshot · 26/03/2020 13:25

@Casino218 wish I had one of those although I would imagine mine is ok as when I went in it was 100% and I had tightness then too.

@GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit temperature from day 6-13 for me I think and none since

Going from my first day of raised temp I’m on day 13 .. had a terrible evening last night and was on the verge of calling an ambulance .. I called a friend who calmed me down .. I was able to sleep quite well last night and woke feeling ok then after a couple of hours the chest tightness hit again .. trying to keep calm is my main issue .. I feel really wiped out just doing simple tasks

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 13:45

@longshot yes my friend is a respiratory nurse specialist- handy😁

stayathomegardener · 26/03/2020 13:45

@treedragon look up Phill Parker's Lightening Program. It's designed for people with ME and stops you symptom checking. I did it 15 years ago and benefited hugely. X

Bellsandwhistle · 26/03/2020 13:46

Late joiner but think I’m day 12 if I go from start off coughing. Cough not continuous just intermittent and dry. No fever at all except maybe once or twice at night when I couldn’t check. Had 2 nights where I had the burning chest feeling like a really hot heartburn which I never suffer from.

Main symptom has been the shortness of breath which has been bad. Often I couldn’t finish a sentence and like others had to think of shortest way of saying something and conversations left me out of breath.

Pretty sure I’ve had it and apart from breathlessness it’s been mild enough and I’ve largely been able to continue with daily activities. Would love to have been tested so I’d know for sure.

Feel much better today which makes me realise how bad the breathlessness and chest pain/tightness has been. Know it may not be over but for anyone with breathlessness hope this reassures.

stayathomegardener · 26/03/2020 13:53

@user34254356 you definitely can do this!
Last week I actually shouted at DD and DH stop asking me questions! I just didn't have the breath control to answer them but couldn't articulate that.

Although I look pretty healthy I have CFS, RA, autoimmune issues and mild asthma and was convinced I was going to die last week. I'm definitely so much better now, been up putting washing on and doing little jobs this morning, could do more but back on the sun lounger with huge jug of water for the rest of the day.

I've been avoiding all news bar this thread and reading as easy book a day as a distraction.

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 13:56

@stayathomegardener sounds like the right approach. X
