Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

@tangledyarn that's exactly how I've been if I do something more strenuous than lie in bed. Most symptoms come back on after a shower or similar. It's unusual cause with another illness I'd expect to feel tired from whatever the activity was and maybe a bit more glandy or whatever but not have full on chills, sore throat, chest and back pain, diarrhea etc all roaring back from washing my hair.

I spoke to soon earlier - the chest pain has kindly reappeared. Bastard.

longshot · 26/03/2020 09:42

@Littleninja what day are you now? I know we are similar.

Day 14. It's been two longs weeks of this joy.

mymoonmyman2020 · 26/03/2020 09:52

Hi all, joining here on day 4 of shortness of breath, slight cough, muscle aches, chest pain, headaches, throat clearing sensation and extreme exhaustion/some dizziness. I feel slightly better today but worse if I do anything other than lie in bed.

Very early days for me I know... I’m thirties and no health issues although viruses do tend to hit me hard for some reason. I’m trying to stay calm and not worry about every symptom but it’s good to have somewhere to discuss it!

stayathomegardener · 26/03/2020 10:14

Day 14 too! Yay... I think.

I'm really happy that DD and DH seem ok.

Very glad to see others at the same stage improving too.

I do find it frustrating though that I'm treating this as if it were CV but those around me are adamant it's not with no cough. Whatever it is you do not want it!
Still fatigued and very tender chest area but getting there.

Can't believe I've lost almost a stone in two weeks and all my muscles and tendons seem to have tightened from lack of use.

longshot · 26/03/2020 10:14

@mymoonmyman2020 welcome! Sorry you’re having the symptoms! I am also also in my thirties with no major health issues and it’s knocked me for six!

Still struggling on here on day 16 it other than chest tightness I do feel a bit better now. Hoping that will clear up soon.

Good luck to you and rest rest rest.

Anyone feeling tired even after having a conversation? My oxygen saturation is ok but I am getting worried that it's even becoming a chore to speak

SansaClegane · 26/03/2020 10:26

Hi guys, I hope it's ok to jump on this thread.
I've had a dry cough since Monday. No temperature at all (keep measuring) and feel overall fine, if more tired than usual. My chest does feel a bit tight/ slightly burn-y? But I'm not short of breath.
Do you think this might be CV? I don't know where the cough is coming from; I've got no cold or anything else, not a smoker, usually only get coughs with colds.

UtterTwaddle · 26/03/2020 10:26

I don’t know what to do. I have some of the symptoms described on here - burning/tight chest pain, fatigue, headache, dizziness, intermittent sore throat. I don’t have a cough or fever. I actually did have an appointment with the nurse at our GP practice and she diagnosed costochondritis as my airways were clear, oxygen levels good and temperature normal. But now I’m starting to doubt the diagnosis as I am on the 9th day of lying on the sofa able to do very little from tiredness and pain. And so many other of you have the same symptoms - I’m sure there can’t be a mass outbreak of costochondritis. The trouble is I live with my 75 year old mother and haven’t isolated myself from her because the diagnosis was costochondritis. What if I do have CV and she gets it and it kills her? Am panicking...

Needsomegoodnews · 26/03/2020 10:32

@user34254356 I’m at day 10 from first fever (sore throat etc couple of days before that) and re your recurring fever, mine keeps coming back (basically goes between 37.5 and 38ish) along with shortness of breath and have now been prescribed some antibiotics in case secondary infection is contributing. If yours is similar, might be worth asking GP

treedragon · 26/03/2020 10:37

Has anyone here had issues with cold feet with this?

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 10:38

@Needsomegoodnews thanks. I will try to call my GP and see if there could be any underlying infection. Feel exceptionally tired and seem to be feeling worse every day than better.

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 10:53

Also is the only way to be assessed if you have breathing difficulties, to call an ambulance? I suppose we can't turn up at A and E ourselves?

Littleninja1 · 26/03/2020 10:58

@treedragon yes!!! I am hot and sweaty all over and my feet have been consistently freezing. It's so weird how we all share the same little symptoms.

@user34254356 how are you today? What day are you on? I could barely hold a conversation from days 7 - 13 (so yesterday). Was picking the quickest way to ask for something or get my point across, each word was effort. That's been my normal, perhaps it is for you too until things pick up?

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 10:59

@user34254356 you can call an ambulance if you feel you need one hun x if your breathing is bad then you may need to x

Littleninja1 · 26/03/2020 11:01

@user34254356 if you feel you need a&e and can safely get there yourself then take yourself and free the ambulance for someone that can't get themselves there. I went in and it was all cordoned off but the nurse came out in full PPE and I kept saying "I can't breathe" and she got me straight in and I was seen within 5 minutes.

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 11:06

@littleninja1 i am day 9 and feel exactly that. Feel pressure on my chest every time i speak and just don't want to talk at length. Have a lot of family calling me and I can't speak much and getting irritated. I hope you are right and that this too shall pass.

that's good to know about A and E as I am 10 mins away from a large london hospital.

goose1964 · 26/03/2020 11:11

Day 4,cough is back with a vengeance , still the same frequency but the individual coughs are worse. Chest pain has also worsened and I'm breathing a bit heavier. I have feet like ice blocks but the rest of me is really hot to touch.

DandyPenguin · 26/03/2020 11:12

Completely this! Day 8 here. Am also 10 mins from large London hospital.

Casino218 · 26/03/2020 11:12

There's a lot of comfort in sharing our experiences on here. Remember breathlessness is frightening and it makes you anxious so try to focus on calming activities too x

TurboTheChicken · 26/03/2020 11:24

My feet and boobs are freezing but my breast bone is hot, feels like I've applied Vicks to it.

user34254356 · 26/03/2020 11:35

@dandypenguin - it is reassuring when other ppl have similar symptoms and knowing those further along have beaten it too!!

@findingschools4myboys are you ok? i haven't seen you post recently and i recall you were on the first thread and had ordered a private test.Hopefully you have recovered

thankful for this thread - only thing that stop me having a panic attack. @Tangledyarn any suggestions given you are a mental health expert on how to stay positive?

DandyPenguin · 26/03/2020 11:38

@TurboTheChicken sorry but have to laugh at the combo of feet & boobs. I just gave my boobs a feel for a temperature check Blush

I always have freezing feet so that’s a way of life and not a symptom for me.

Joeaj23 · 26/03/2020 11:49

I’m joining you all at approx day 16 from initial symptoms and day 19-24 from assumed infection while I was in Italy.

Days 7-14 were the worst with fever, shortness of breath, tight and burning chest, extreme nausea.

Yesterday I felt better and thought I was recovering but it seems like last night and today I’ve slipped back a bit. Mildly short of breath and Very weak and tired but can’t really sleep as when I tried to sleep earlier I woke up gasping for breath.

Just hoping at this point I start to improve as it’s extremely draining.

FYI I’m 34, male, no underlying conditions

Littleninja1 · 26/03/2020 11:51

@user34254356 I'm not a mental health professional but let me share what I've done the last few days when I couldn't breathe.

  1. DISTRACTION - this works when you're not at your worst. Force yourself to read a book. Pick a
high number and keep subtracting 7 in your head until you reach zero (you may have a better maths brain than me and find this easy Grin). Watch something funny even when you are scared. I've gone for Arrested Development on Netflix.

  2. AWARENESS - if you don't already know about diaphragm breathing or mindfulness then have a quick Google. Breathe into your tummy. Feel it rise and fall. Put all your attention there.
If something is hurting, acknowledge that it hurts and then say this is my body helping me recover. Then put your awareness somewhere else. I usually choose a big toe!

  3. POSITIVITY - this is hard for me as I am a worrier and have anxiety. This has required huge mental effort. Create a mantra for yourself. Mine was "I am strong. This is temporary. I am getting better. My body knows what to do." I repeated this many times.

  4. EACH HOUR AT A TIME - at my worst this week I was telling myself to do whatever I could to get through this hour. Don't think in days or weeks, just can you get through this hour? If the answer is no then that's an emergency. I think you've already shown on this thread how strong you are. You've wanted to call an ambulance or go to a&e and you've managed to get through it. You are doing great!

I've also listened to audible stories and had my husband read to me. Other options are podcasts and books.

Also important - avoid the news and other posts on MN about CV at all costs. People will throw in the most random scary stuff because they aren't currently feeling like they can't breathe. It's not helpful.
