Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

@Littleninja1 for my relative day 18 was the turning point. Until then she was like you and you and down with symptoms

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 13:09

@Ellapaella thank you - that is very heartening to hear. I'm LONGING to be well. I will never take my health for granted again. This has scared me thoroughly.

Thanks for sharing your friends experiences. It really helps as we all navigate this crazy disease together.

Jerseygaly · 25/03/2020 13:16

I think I feel worse after eating.
Could be blood sugar. Or pressure of full stomach

tangledyarn · 25/03/2020 13:25

@jerseygaly I'm really struggling to eat, which is not like me at all, am just not hungry and feels like it makes my breathing worse.
Have just had a cry as am much more breathless again today..washing my hair seemed to tip me over the edge and had felt so much better yesterday but know logically than any pneumonia will take a while to recover from properly so just trying to go with it and manage my own expectations!

PatsyStone39 · 25/03/2020 13:31

I was on the last thread and sadly didn't get to update as an ambulance had to be called for me and i was taken to hospital, to a specific ward for corona virus. I wasn't swabbed (they were only swabbing those deemed critical) but Covid19 was confirmed by the Dr's from my symptoms and what showed on my chest x-ray.

The paramedics said everyone was mentioning the burning lungs, and all their callout's on Wednesday had been people struggling to breathe.

I am home and recuperating. My chest and lungs still ache but i no longer feel like am an suffocating, which is a massive relief! It feels like my left lung will never be right again but i hope i am wrong on that, and it will just take time.

everythingisginandroses · 25/03/2020 13:33

@Needsomegoodnews - me. Day 9, had fever 38.1 - 38.4 throughout. Bad last night, took lots of paracetomol, only got 9 left Sad Heavy chest, v tired.

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 13:36

@PatsyStone39 I am so pleased to hear you are on the mend. I've been thinking of you. It sounded a very worrying situation.

Rest up at home. Lots of books, tea and blankets Smile

Can I ask if you got treatment in hospital?

Spacecadetagain · 25/03/2020 13:39

My chest feels like it’s being crushed again and my sinuses feel raw

PatsyStone39 · 25/03/2020 13:50

Thank you so much, LittleNinja! There's no treatment as it's viral. Just lots of fluids as it's dehydrating us quickly (hence the dry mouth and dry, painful eyes) and paracetamol. Absolutely no iburofen based drugs.

I was told to call an ambulance again if i started to cough up blood, but thankfully that hasn't happened.

I'm exhausted and raw....everything hurts and burns.....but i know i'm getting better. You all will too.

Please take good care of yourselves. xx

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 13:53

Pasty drone bloody hell!
How long were you in for, what did they do for you?

longshot · 25/03/2020 14:18

@PatsyStone39 I’m glad you aren’t home!! What day are you on? I really felt like that the last two days, nearly went back in again yesterday after having been in last week already. Anyway my lungs (especially left side) felt awful sun -tue and I was very concerned. Sharp pains and breathing issues too but it started to ease yesterday and today it’s much better. Still not normal but so so much better. Day 15 for me. They said the same thing to me about coughing blood, I haven’t been but it must be a sign for some people.

This is all so horrible.

Small update here - still feeling moderately ok today. Tired and feel a bit dizzy but generally improving.

There is a 40 year old pastor badly ill with Covid who was taken into hospital in Belfast. He was been on Radio Ulster today. He is still in hospital on oxygen, having been admitted struggling to breathe. He is hopefully recovering now but wanted to get on air to warn the public about how serious this is. Three interesting points -

  • he never had a cough OR a fever. He simply experienced increasing chest tightening until he could barely breathe
  • he was tested and it came back negative.
Only when he was tested again did it show positive

-he is a fit and healthy 40-year old, and has no underlying health conditions

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 14:35

Kayaking, that fits exactly with my experience. Also the three doctors I've spoken to didn't hesitate to diagnose covid without fever or cough. I posted on the last thread a link to Ireland's health advice which references chills, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In my opinion the frontline docs know the real symptoms but for some reason NHS messaging wants to stick to cough and fever. Totally wrong as so many people with these chest pains and not knowing to isolate or what to expect!

KayakingOnDown · 25/03/2020 14:48

It fits my experience too littleninja1

Isadora2007 · 25/03/2020 14:52

@Ondalay actually it’s quite well recognised that the testing is not accurate- only around 75% The opthamologist that died was negative twice despite having it badly enough he died. That couple on the cruise ship also got negatives and positives and negatives... when they had it.
So...

KayakingOnDown · 25/03/2020 14:58

The test is only 70% accurate. They are trying to develop a more sensitive test.

user34254356 · 25/03/2020 15:17

Day 8 for me. I have had a racy heartbeat all day today. Anyone else had similar symptoms?

user34254356 · 25/03/2020 15:19

@littleninja just read you also had a very fast heart rate. How did it calm down? I am currently struggling with it. No breathing issues though.

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 15:23

@user34254356 so sorry to hear this. Mine just calmed down by itself. It's happened a few times but I forgot to list it before. It comes on at the same time as increased breathlessness for me. It feels like it's pounding.

I've found the standing up and leaning forward with my hands on my knees helps me get more air in. It's important to stay calm and not add anxiety to it (ha, easy to say right!).

Have you measured how fast it is? I believe over 110 BPM you should seek medical help.

user34254356 · 25/03/2020 15:25

Mine is between 80-90 at the moment and been so all day. Will keep monitoring then. Thanks

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 15:27

Mine was 88 when they tested me at the hospital and they were fine with that. I know it feels horrible, sending hugs xx

Spacecadetagain · 25/03/2020 15:31

My resting heartbeat is between 80-90 at the best of times so not the best indicator for me !

Spacecadetagain · 25/03/2020 15:34

I’m definitely panicking which isn’t helping ..although I felt groggy when I woke up I didn’t have any chest tightness etc .. that only seemed to come on after I’d been up a while ... I’m terrified I’m going to end up Going downhill and I have two dcs at home

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 15:41

@spacedetagain can you put a plan in place now in case your symptoms worsen? Contact friends or one of the new mutual aid groups to ensure you will get food and supplies. Make sure you have enough paracetamol for a week.

Also make a plan what to do with your DCs if you did need to go to A&E. It is scary thinking about but you will feel more in control having a plan in place. My only advice would be to find a friend who thinks they've had it and can care for them, if you have someone like this? This would be a last resort and others may have better ideas.

You may well not get any worse than this, everyone has it differently. Flowers
