Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

@shastabeast Its hard with asthma, I'm wheezy but doubled by symbicort dose which has helped loads, I know I dont need antibiotics & very cautious about steroids as if this isn't CV my immune system will be even less useful to me, plus theres also a contraindication for covid too but I have a rescue pack and i could start them if the asthma flair continued once I'm more better. I hope you start to feel much better soon shasta..its very unpleasant but you can do it :) x

tangledyarn · 25/03/2020 01:03

@shastabeast no jogging until you are betterShock just build up with gentle walks..I'm going to try to walk a bit more tommorow in the house, if i do anything much my breathing and heart rate get super fast again and weirdly also the sore throat and temp comes back...so its slowly slowly..but I dont mind as it's going in the right direction :)

Casino218 · 25/03/2020 01:27

@Ellapaella are these patients admitted to hospital because I'm thinking I'm day 16 today and stabby lung pains just woke me. My chest still tight but I'm not breathless. This virus is the gift that just keeps giving!

Owlsintowels · 25/03/2020 06:37

Hello, I'm joining your ranks after watching from afar for a few days.

Days t-x to day 0 = dodgy tum / mild Diarrhoea plus a very mild rash on my face and slightly cold.
I often get itchy skin when I'm coming down with a virus and u never feel cold unless ill - I'm well known for my nuclear core and constant heat giving properties!
Day 1 = sunday. Tonsils started feeling slightly enlarged and a bit sore
Day 2 = temp of 37.4 at lunchtime, crept up to 37.8 by bedtime (no meds), also some mild joint ache including round my neck and upper back. Tonsils feel like mini golf balls in my throat
Day 3 = temp breeched 38.0 but went down to 37.4 again in the evening, again without meds. The very first whispers of a dry cough, body aches gone
Day 3 = woke at 5am with a throat which feels like I've been screaming at a football match all day then smoked 30 cigarettes and gargled with vinegar before bed. Feels really raw. Maybe minor heartburn feeling, I can't tell it apart from the sore throat.

I really don't want to cough on this throat as it feels like it'll hurt

I'm normally pretty healthy and haven't had any sick days in years and years, so I'm interested to see how this plays out. I'm also 40 and am ex smoker which makes me worry this might be worse than a normal cold, but I haven't smoked in 7 years, and was only a social smoker for the 5+ years before that, so hopefully my lungs have mostly recovered.

Given I live with DH and 2 DC I'm not sure how much I'm able to avoid them now, surely they've already got it? DH normally gets what I do but a small dose of man flu at the same time, I really don't want an 18 day illness with him 3 or 4 days behind me Sad but I guess none of us do

Good luck everyone

Broadwayb · 25/03/2020 07:04

Has anyone on this thread had a positive test result yet?

I’m at least 3 weeks in now. I really don’t feel ill particularly but the heavy, sore, ‘spent the night before in a 90s club inhaling cigarette smoke and shouting over music’ lungs persist. Some days worse than others. I had a random half hour temperature spike the other day but it only lasted an hour and I felt fine afterwards. If this isn’t CV then it is something very odd.

RoyalAlfred · 25/03/2020 07:17

@Owlsintowels

I am working/living in our Box room. I use the bathroom after family have gone downstairs and disinfect. I go downstairs to kitchen to wash my pots similarly when they are all in bed. Food and drink is left for me at the top of the stairs. They may well have whatever I do, but I understand all virus are most infectious when symptomatic.

TheWooisStrong · 25/03/2020 07:36

Day 14. Woke up feeling much better again. Seems to be the pattern, as I felt better yesterday morning then had a relapse in the afternoon . Eating well and pacing myself today, going to do a lot of relaxing and pottering around.
Chest feels the best it has in a while too!

longshot · 25/03/2020 07:57

Day 15, feeling ok ish, especially if I sit relaxing.

I have realised how unwell I have been because even sitting doing nothing I felt terrible most days over the last 7-10 days. Now I feel ‘normal’ but uncomfortable breathing / exhaustion levels come back if I do too much. So planning not to do too much!

Playing quietly with children is now possible though which is a big improvement.

Chest slightly better again but still ‘there’. Just taken my first paracetamol of the day.

Needsomegoodnews · 25/03/2020 07:57

Anyone else having a persistent fever? I’m on day 9 since first fever (sore throat a couple of days before that) and it’s STILL mostly up at 37.8-38. Thought I felt slightly better yesterday morning but got worse through the day and feel rubbish again this morning. Breathing was worst on Monday though, slightly eased.

Casino218 · 25/03/2020 07:58

Day 16 didn't have a great evening and night. Not breathless, no cough or temp but chest tight, chest pains, headache, fluttering feeling.

This morning getting sharp pains in chest, not breathless, no cough, no temp ,eating ok but hate this chest tightness. Roll on day 18 I've heard people say things improve then.

Ellapaella · 25/03/2020 08:14

@tangledyarn so glad to hear you are feeling better. One of the people I know with it is a close relative and she is also feeling she has turned a corner now at 18 days.

Meercatmama · 25/03/2020 08:15

Day 10 had some fever during the night but woke with a heavy chest and fleeting pains. Don't feel as good as I did on Day 6 and 7 but coping ok I always feel better in he morning and it gets worse during the evening

Casino218 · 25/03/2020 08:18

@Meercatmama absolutely that's like me worse in eve better in morning usually although today it's not been the best start.

Ellapaella · 25/03/2020 08:23

@Casino218 yes, one has been. It was the chest pain and struggling to breathe that became a real worry. But actually although admitted they didn't have to do any treatment and she was discharged home. Although she was very breathless (again it was intermittent bouts) her oxygen saturations were satisfactory. She is doing well now, turned a corner yesterday.
The other person we know is a friend and he suddenly felt a lot worse yesterday (day 8) but isn't in hospital, he's still managing at home.

Casino218 · 25/03/2020 08:26

Thanks @Ellapaella reassuring to know. I feel by day 16 if I was going to go downhill it would have already happened ( and I'm a nurse so god knows how anxious others must be)

lashesandflashes · 25/03/2020 08:29

Hi I’ve been watching from afar too but now I’m on day 7 or 8. Started with hot eyes and chills then cough and tight chest. Breathless and funk in my chest.

I got antibiotics from the doctor to clear the gunk. Day 3 of those which has helped with the gunk. No temperature but not able to get a full breath.

Have woken up with no sense of taste or smell. Any idea if there is a pattern to getting this symptom to then starting to feel better. So weird to not be able to smell coffee from a freshly open pack.

treedragon · 25/03/2020 09:05

I am not sure how I feel. I am wondering if how I’m feeling is anxiety. Which I have a lot of and that causes odd breathing in me. Jittery.

Fareham south of England here

IpanemaGallina · 25/03/2020 09:10

Morning, had a bad night with chest pain and struggled to breath at times. Feel better this morning though. Less pressure, only stabbing pains.

Also had tummy issues in the night with toilet visits, shivers, chills and elevated heart rate.

The chest pressure is so much less this morning that I’m hopeful that was the worst of it.

Spacecadetagain · 25/03/2020 09:23

Day 12 here if I count from the first day I had a temperature . I’m hoping that was the first day as if I only count it from the first day I felt ill I’m only on day nine . Felt ok yesterday evening but didn’t sleep well . No pain etc but had a lot of crazy dreams like you do with a fever . Woke this morning feeling hot and groggy but less chest pressure although still got the kidney pain etc . I’m definitely suffering from panic and anxiety though as terrified I’ll be one of the ones who takes a downward spiral .. how long does this damn thing go on for !

SchrodingersKitty · 25/03/2020 12:25

@longshot: yes I had achy legs from around day 9/10 as far as I can remember. On and off since then, it not at the moment.

Now on day 15 and feeling much better than yesterday which was the first day I just gave up and went to bed. May be that or may be the antibiotics. I got up for half an hour this morning to let my students know their lectures would be delayed and set them some interim work. Felt flushed and started coughing so straight back to bed. Trying to eat a fair amount and eat to give my body every chance to fight it. I really should have done this sooner. I always think mental work doesn’t count, but it does use up energy.

SchrodingersKitty · 25/03/2020 12:27

That was ‘and rest to give my body a chance to beat it’.

Ondalay · 25/03/2020 12:29

It's worth noting that only about 12% of those tested for CV in the UK were found to be positive - so it's likely that 88% of you don't have CV.

SchrodingersKitty · 25/03/2020 12:41

@Ondalay: yes - a lot of us may well have other things that would in all likelihood not have got as bad if GPs were able to see people with respiratory symptoms at the moment.

DorsetCamping · 25/03/2020 12:57

Today feels like my back has been kicked by a horse and a strange sort of winded feeling. Not especially breathless or unwell though

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 13:04

Day 13 for me. Yesterday started well then had bad pains all across upper back and like my chest was being crushed. Heart rate very fast (about 100 BPM). Woke this morning with the same symptoms. Have had diarrhea too.

Was so breathless this morning I considered going to A&E again but it has also improved once my heart rate slowed. Still in bed. Pains better right now.

I hate how unpredictable this is. As soon as I feel I understand what's happening the symptoms change or worsen and then improve and then return.

It's helpful to hear now that people are often I'll for two weeks or more. Seems more people talking about symptoms etc and doctors will get to understand the virus more.

I've downloaded the app symptom tracker.
