Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

My nose is still tingling and my taste/smell has been gone for 3 days. I have heard in the news that 30% of patients are experiencing this. I am wondering if any of you with symptoms have experience this and how long did it last?

I have had loss of smell (total) for 14 days now. I can still taste, although it is reduced due to the loss of smell.
I didn't have any tingling, although my nasopharynx does feel slightly odd - sort of like being too dry, but not quite.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 15:23

So relieved to read that. I was starting to freak out about the front right rib pain. Thanks @patriciabateman

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 15:25

@shell that happened to my friend , her hubby developed quite a bad cough and chest problems but she only had that!

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 15:26

@AnythingPecan I’m counting the days from when I first felt shivery and unwell, as I presume that was part of the virus

KayakingOnDown · 24/03/2020 15:26

Spoke to GP again today - different GP. They also think I have it. Advice is simply to rest and try and get over it at home.

Chest pain is worse today so I was worried. Shortness of breath continues. It's been a week of these chest symptoms now. My course of symptoms was very similar to PatriciaBateman but my headaches were not as bad, and I had sore eyes.

SchrodingersKitty · 24/03/2020 15:28

i wrote a long post which then disappeared. Hope it didn’t turn up randomly in some other thread.

GP called back quickly and said it might well be cv but impossible to know. Said since I can speak in sentences and move around I don’t need to be seen by ambulance. Might also / instead be a secondary bacterial infection or a new one so giving antibiotics.

She was reassuring about my asthma preventers and said it is oral steroids that are a problem with cv and I should take mine if needing preventers more than twice a day. Currently not. The reason people on those drugs may be on shielding list (thought I haven’t received a letter yet) is that they indicate a more severe level of asthma. Since I only take them during a flare up I am not in that category. That was very reassuring.

She said signs to watch out for are increased breathlessness and a consistent pulse of over 110 a minute. That might indicate need for further treatment.

Felt much calmer since this conversation and fact the DH currently has no symptoms. A friend is picking up antibiotics to leave on doorstep. I’ve given up on work for today and going to have a nap.

In answer to age question - I am 55.

TheWooisStrong · 24/03/2020 15:29

Day 14 ish.
Slowly improving. I still have the back pain, still get dizzy if I try to do too much, but I am getting a little more done. Two loads of washing on the line today, and I moved a plant in the garden.
Definitely very fatigued but I’m hopeful things will get better.
Eating well and drinking lots of water really do help!

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 15:31

If postmen still working??

I certainly hope so! Husband dropped my swab-envelope in the postbox this morning. Am hoping it doesn't just sit and expire there!

Littleninja1 · 24/03/2020 15:32

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge was having similar thoughts re having a condition I don't know about. But I looked at the stats from China and people generally aren't marked as recovered for about a month. I believe the way the government and NHS have been talking about this is misleading for the general public. They are classifying pneumonia in the "mild" category to be managed at home. But what they say is most people will get a mild illness which makes us think a cough or cold and better in no time.

I am also a healthy eater and was doing yoga 4-5 times a week before this. Also got it just after a ski trip so should have been in fighting form!

Try not to worry about your running - you will get back to the same level even if it takes a while. Try not to use your energy on anything non essential (easy to say, right) and focus on getting better Smile

Kahlua4me · 24/03/2020 15:32

Has anyone had pain in back by lower ribs? I think it’s the kidney area? I have suddenly got pain on both sides which is making me feel quite sick.

Have spoken to gp who doesn’t think my symptoms sound like covid due to lack of temperature and cough but he’s not sure what they are. I have had very similar symptoms to many of you and I think I am on day 8 based on when I first noticed a sore throat.

He has px me some codeine for the pain and I am to ring him back in 2 days.

DandyPenguin · 24/03/2020 15:33

I’m going to count from the day my sore throat started, which means I’m counting from a day earlier before I spoke to NHS Direct and doctor said I probably have it.

So I’m day 7. I’m mid 40s. I’m sore and creaky and croaky and feel very old.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 15:44

Thanks @Littleninja1 your post has made me feel a lot better about everything Smile I think I’m (as I’m sure a lot of us are) just used to bouncing back from things really quickly.

Hope you get back to full health soon Flowers and thanks once again!

Spacecadetagain · 24/03/2020 15:49

@Kahlua4me I’ve got that pain too .. it feels like I’ve been kicked in the kidneys by a horse

DorsetCamping · 24/03/2020 15:54

Same here @Spacecadetagain. Back pain Just on one side though towards bottom of ribs.
Thought I'd ripped an intercostal muscle (don't know how though!). It catches my breath if I twist or pick up something heavy

tobesuretobesure · 24/03/2020 16:00

Glad to find this thread. Hope my post helps. I’m not certain it is the cv, but wanted to share in case anyone feels the same.

Apx 2 weeks ago;
Everyone else in the household has persistent dry cough. No temps.

My symptoms
No temp and no cough.
Slight headache. Knocked back some paracetamol and thought nothing more of it.

During that week;
Felt a bit tired. Occasionally get slight pin prick like feeling on lungs when breathing in.

The last 4 days;
Aching around shoulders and neck and a tiny bit in wrists and knees. Occasional pain around ribs.

Very little energy.

Intermittent chills and goosebumps.

Very itchy eyes & bloodshot.

Getting a full lung full of air is harder, I have to work harder to do so - notice my throat and neck are pulling to do so. Achy around top of back and shoulders.

Bit breathless after doing very little.

Slight sore throat (mainly in the little v bit at the bottom of neck).

Rather tired and glad to be able to rest.

Appetite still ok.

notangelinajolie · 24/03/2020 16:07

@PatriciaBateman
I have very similar symptoms to you but a bit milder. Although I have had a high fever for the best part of a week. Envious you have had a test - I think I would pay too but one of my Dd's is poorly too and I'd feel a bit selfish if I tested myself and not her. I think we will just have to sit it out and wait for the antibody test that Boris has been talking about.

I'm about 2 week in if I count the strange tingly throat I had for a few days before I started feeling breathless.

I was feeling better but I'm back in bed again today with my breathing and fever.

I don't have a diagnosis from anyone. I couldn't get past the receptionist at GP surgery. She told me to ring 111 which I have tried several times but each time after 2 hours on hold I get cut off.

@longshot re the achey hands and wrists - I had that but have since realised it was due to over zealous wrist action when disinfecting all my kitchen door knobs and door handles Grin

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 16:11

DH hasn't seen postman today. I'm holding off testing until I do. Remember if you test positive it's pretty highly likely that what your family has too so you will know for them.

IpanemaGallina · 24/03/2020 16:16

Worried I have it. Had a sore throat yesterday and today. But today I have a lot of chest pain and some breathlessness. I’m asthmatic (well controlled) but feeling a bit panicky. Trying to calm myself.

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 16:20

@IpanemaGallina don't panic. How old are you?

IpanemaGallina · 24/03/2020 16:24

45 otherwise in good health. Just the lack of breath making me panicky.

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 16:27

Yes it feels like you can't get a full breath in doesn't it. That feeling makes everyone anxious. Your age would indicate you'll be fine but if your struggling to speak and really rapid pulse ring them.

Katkincake · 24/03/2020 16:29

Just checking in. Day 12 here from first symptom (sore throat) yesterday was good, no symptoms then bang, dizzy and flushed feeling came on an hour ago and sore throat reappeared this morning. Thankfully not breathless today, though get tired easily. When this ever shift? Haven’t taken paracetamol consistently, would that help or am I better letting my body fight it’s own corner?

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 16:34

Just reading that some people test negative up to six times even though infectious with virus as did that ophthalmologist that died in China.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 24/03/2020 16:37

My nose is tingling like mad, I can't smell anything, just about taste and feel v tired.

Is this the start of is it hay fever?

Spacecadetagain · 24/03/2020 16:39

@DorsetCamping yes I thought it was a pulled muscle at first too .
I am starting to feel a bit panicky today as literally feel as though I’ve an elephant sat on my chest . Today is the first day I’ve felt really breathless (day 12) and also seem to have more of an annoying cough .. trying not to frighten the DCs by appearing scared but I am
