Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

@usercheeselover why are you discounting the cough that's a major symptom?

DandyPenguin · 24/03/2020 14:22

Hope you get a call back soon @SchrodingersKitty Flowers

I’m day 6 here, counting from day of telephone diagnosis by 111 Doctor (^Disclaimer: I have not been tested, so no I may not have Covid.>) But main symptoms started up day before, so I should probably count from then?

Quite terrified user of ominous days 8 &9 as you put it Shock

I’ve been resting up this entire time which helps. Still chest pain, tightness and heaviness. Head wise it’s feeling more like a cold, that is concentrated on my right side but is spreading to my left. I really don’t feel too bad other then achey and exhausted, so am quite prepared to believe I don’t have “it” and just a virus, except my symptoms do match up and doctor was convinced. She said my lung pain was pleurisy which I thought was symptom and dr seemed to believe it was, but others seem to be thinking of it as an add-on to covid?

The mildness of some of the symptoms is what makes this so deceptive and contagious I think - I can totally see why some people probably have it or had it without knowing. Rather terrifying,

Elllicam · 24/03/2020 14:29

I have a cough, chest pain, tightness, burning, heaviness and shortness of breath. I keep checking my 02 sats though and they are fine. I have to say if I didn’t have the monitor I would be much more worried. Trying to get tested as I’m a nurse but no joy so far.

tangledyarn · 24/03/2020 14:30

@casino218 Totally. I've been Ill for nearly 3 weeks. I cant see myself functioning anywhere near normally for a good while longer as still really struggling just to get up for a coupleof hours morn and eve...and I imagine some if the symptoms could go on a lot longer. I dont think I'm unusual.

longshot · 24/03/2020 14:40

@tangledyarn and @Casino218 this is good to hear (not good but reassuring!) I am mid30s.

After resting all day I feel a bit better. Keep seeing people walk by my house exercising and am so envious as not left the house for two weeks

This thread really is reassuring.

I'm two weeks tomorrow with no sign of it shifting. @Casino218 the voice of calm and reason.

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 14:51

Just a heads up that private tests are available now - albeit expensive!

Better2know does one for £299. It's extremely uncomfortable though, you have to take a swab yourself from the back of your throat and tonsils, and 2cm inside each nostril. Still thought it worth it for the peace (or not) of mind - waiting for my results.

KingaRoo · 24/03/2020 14:52

Does anyone else find that their symptoms are much worse in the evening? The tight chest in particular seems not bad in the morning but by around 7pm it is hard to ignore.

I've still not had a fever and only very occasional cough e.g. once every 3 hours. Does that count as a cough? In normal times I would never say I had a cough.

longshot · 24/03/2020 14:54

@tangledyarn @Casino218 @SchrodingersKitty can I ask how old you are?

Just spoken to GP, as breathing not severely bad they just want me to stay home and rest. Keep on paracetamol and water was the advice.

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 14:59

My symptoms (pending Covid-19 test results)

Day 1 - sore throat and temp 37.9 (low-grade)
Day 2 - sore throat going, muscle aches, headachey
Day 3 - sore throat gone, headaches
Day 4 - headaches
Day 5 - headaches
Day 6 - headaches
Day 7 - chest tightness in evening, thought this was anxiety
Day 8 - chest tight (like bra too tight) and short of breath during day
Day 9 - increasing tightness and shortness of breath (puffing when walking to another room)
Day 10 - burning in right side of chest (like fire), exhausted, low-grade fever, dry cough starts, breathing is hard work (sats 95%, heart shoots up to 140s if I try to walk)
Day 11 - burning both sides of chest, breathless, tired, sleeping all day, sweating, can't take deep breath at all, breathing in general feels like constant conscious work
Day 12 - same as 11
Day 13 - still sleeping all day, getting easier to breathe though, can take a deep breath again (sat 97%)
Day 14 (today) - burning gone, can breathe fine again (phew), but sharp stabbing (pleuritic) pains throughout chest. Heart racing constantly (around 110) but sats all the way back up to 99%, also some mild liver pains

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 14:59

Oh, also had 1 day of loose tummy issues at the very beginning, and lost my sense of smell completely after the sore throat - still hasn't come back.

Littleninja1 · 24/03/2020 15:01

@longshot we sound very similar. I'm mid 30s too. No underlying conditions.

As I saw someone mention yoga and others like they weren't sure if this was a cold - I'm sure everyone experiences things differently. These are so far from my experience. I can walk to the toilet and back when feeling better. I can sit in a chair for an hour or two when having a period of relief from the symptoms. Other than that I can't leave my bed.

GP advice was same as you got longshot. Just wait it out. My GP wasn't concerned that I'm still ill after this time and I was reassured by that.

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 15:02

Does anyone else find that their symptoms are much worse in the evening? The tight chest in particular seems not bad in the morning but by around 7pm it is hard to ignore.

This is exactly what I experienced, as well as only a very occasional dry cough, certainly wasn't constant, but a handful or two times a day. I kept thinking I was getting better, only for the tightness to get really bad again in the evening.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 15:06

@patriciabateman - where are your mild liver pains? Are they under your front right rib cage? I’m day 15 and still getting heartburn, tight chest, cough and feeling EXHAUSTED. And have a really fuzzy head.

Aaaarghhhh

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 15:09

where are your mild liver pains? Are they under your front right rib cage?

Yes, exactly there. I mainly only feel it when I move, sort of an ache like I've bruised myself, but occasionally get a twingey/stab too.

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 15:10

@longshot I'm 53

tangledyarn · 24/03/2020 15:11

@longshot I'm late 30s, but do have asthma and a few other health issues x

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 15:11

@longshot I’ve had very Similar symptoms to you, and I’m on day 15. I’m mid 30’s, a runner (4x a week) alternate Pilates and yoga, and eat REALLY healthily and I just can’t seem to shake it.

Still have a tight chest, exhausted, cough and pain under my front right rib. It’s reassuring to know there are others out there with similar. Was starting to think I’ve got underlying health issues that I don’t know about.

From a completely health obsessed perspective I’m also worried about the time I’m taking out from my running, as I know how much just 3 weeks out of something can impact on your performance / stamina. But obviously my health is far more important, so that’s just very much a side thought!

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 15:12

@PatriciaBateman was in process of buying then I thought I'm 15 days into this virus. How much of the virus is actually left to test? Does anyone know?

AnythingPecan · 24/03/2020 15:13

@PatriciaBateman thanks for sharing your symptoms. They’re exactly like mine! Even the sequence of events.
Just wondering though - I’ve started my ‘count’ from the day I started developing chest symptoms. Not from the day my throat was sore / Headache / fatigue. Am I further into it then I perhaps might have thought?

shell6266 · 24/03/2020 15:17

I believe I have a very mild case of COVID-19. I was exposed last Saturday to someone who was working in Seattle for the last three weeks. We had dinner on Saturday and on Sunday, they told me they started having symptoms. In a couple of days, I started having a dry cough. The cough went away but then my nose started feeling really weird and tingling. After a couple of days of that, I lost my sense of taste and smell. My nose is still tingling and my taste/smell has been gone for 3 days. I have heard in the news that 30% of patients are experiencing this. I am wondering if any of you with symptoms have experience this and how long did it last? I'm sorry for those of you who are much sicker! TIA

CustardySergeant · 24/03/2020 15:19

hopsalong I have been wondering the same thing about letting the fever run its course and have found this article in relation to Covid 19
www.cebm.net/managing-fever-in-adults-with-possible-or-confirmed-covid-19/

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 15:20

Casino218

People were still testing positive days after they recovered if I recall. I wonder if the amount of days depends on how high your viral load reached (ie. different from person to person).

PatriciaBateman · 24/03/2020 15:22

AnythingPecan I had the same dilemma of deciding when to start counting.

I ended up picking the sore throat day because this was when I first had a temperature - but I imagine the data will be a bit skewed anyway as different people will choose different starting points.
It's also possible the sore throat had nothing to do with it, and it actually started at the short-of-breath days.

Casino218 · 24/03/2020 15:23

@PatriciaBateman ok I will give it a go then I think. If postmen still working??
