Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

Someone gets a negative and the first response of some is to question and doubt validity. It’s like some of you actively want to have corona rather than something more “boring” like.... the flu!

SchrodingersKitty · 23/03/2020 13:23

@Bringringbring12: if it wasn't for my husband almost certainly being in the group that has to shield, I would be quite glad it this was corona virus, in the hope of then having some immunity to it. That would be a great compensation for having gone through all of the discomfort and worry. Once I and my household are safely out the other side of this I will definitely be hoping it was cv and will be getting the antibody test asap.

This doesn't feel anything like flu, incidentally, but i agree that it might well be some other virus.

tangledyarn · 23/03/2020 13:25

@Bringringbring12 Not my take at all. Seems totally valid. Just difficult as I've been told its CV but clearly it might not be as no testing and also GP wont see me for a physical as too risky..I mainly just want to get back to my nhs job seeing patients whatever is wrong!

Superbrew · 23/03/2020 13:31

At the moment I think it's more likely you will get coronavirus seeing as there is a pandemic, then the flu, especially if you have had a flu jab.

Casino218 · 23/03/2020 13:37

@Bringbring. I do. I'm a nurse I would rather have immunity when I go into the hell hole!

DandyPenguin · 23/03/2020 13:45

Oh good news 122!

findingschools4myboys · 23/03/2020 13:51

Hi everyone. Haven’t posted for a while. I think I am day 13 and my worst symptom that I am struggling with is that I have developed a congested head, burning sinuses, blocked ears that has given me vertigo!! 2 nights of not sleeping because I couldn’t lie down!! I had a huge panic attack last night as I was just absolutely exhausted but couldn’t sleep because of the nausea and heaviness that happens when lying down.
The only other symptom I have still lingering is no taste and smell for past 3 days.
I think this for me is the aftermath of having a or THE viral infection.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2020 13:55

Can I join you for my DC, I'm losing the plot with worry,

DD(4) - 2 weeks ago had fever, very sore throat and mouth, after 5 days broke out in spots abound mouth/hands and feet so we thought it was hand foot and mouth.

DS(7) - a week after DD's symptoms started with very sore throat, fever, most voice and has been left with dryish cough, and raspy breathing, very worrying to hear intermittent periods of taking huge, sharp deep gasps, no more fever or sore throat but still no voice.

DS(13) / no symptoms

DS(15) - Cystic Fibrosis patient with significant lung damage. 4 days ago started with mild sore throat and fever, yesterday started vomiting, throat so sore and swollen he couldn't swallow anything without vomiting, called the peads ward, took him in, had COVID swab and fluids:Paracetamol and sent us home, awful night last night won't delirium, 1 spell of uncontrollable liquid poo (that smelt like rotten fish!) Woke up today feeling much better, sore throat still and I still have fluids going though his feed tube, he's started back up oral antibiotics (as advised by consultant) and I've mainly let him sleep (with NIV on to support lungs)

I'm terrified that this is going to go down hill in a few days time and he's going to get respiratory symptoms, I'm a bag of anxiety, also worried about DS(7) breathing not getting better, I was ok the phone to 111 for several hours over the past few days and have yet to speak to a human, he has severe upper respiratory issues in the throat and nose due to allergies.
I feel so out of my depth.

Littleninja1 · 23/03/2020 13:56

The A&E doc wouldn't even test me. He said the tests are only 75% accurate so can't trust the result anyway. Look at the couple from the cruise ship that got negative, positive, positive, negative, positive etc.

I spoke to my GP today to rule out bacterial chest infection. He said it's not bacterial, he can tell from blood results from Friday. Says he's also sure I have covid. I've had the same symptoms as others on this thread but if even the doctors and the tests don't know then how will we!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/03/2020 13:57

The hospital said the swab would take 24-48hrs to come back and they're only 75% accurate.

Littleninja1 · 23/03/2020 14:05

@TitsalinaBumSquash I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through, it must be extremely distressing. Have you tried your GP? If they fob you off with 111 say it's urgent and you can't reach 111.

Littleninja1 · 23/03/2020 14:18

@user34254356 I didn't have a chest x-ray as they advised against it due to the risk of infection from other patients.

Aurea · 23/03/2020 14:22

Ok. I think I know where I got it from. I met a friend for the day - lots of hugging etc. She came down with what she believes is CV a day after our get together. I then down with what I think is CV seven days later.

Her symptoms were/are: dry cough, high temp, loss of taste/smell, tummy ache (not sick bug), pain in chest, loss of appetite, general malaise.

My symptoms are: a very infrequent dry cough and severe tightness and pain/heat in chest like a band constricting above bra line to between shoulder blades, lack of appetite and feeling wobbly.

Too much of a coincidence?

tempestterra · 23/03/2020 14:23

titsbumsquash. Do you know how long it will be before you get the results of swab back?is it worth ringing Peads ward to ask how long it will be? Also maybe try you GP again if you're worried about your other DS. Keeping everything crossed for you.

findingschools sorry to hear about your sinus and other symptoms, but glad you are beginning to recover from the other virus symptoms.

122Now what day of your illness did they swab you?

Hepzibahscaredme · 23/03/2020 14:41

@GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit I had this! I was desperate to sleep and couldn't - even sitting up. All I can say is that it does gradually pass off in time. I was able to sleep lying down all night for the first time last night (first symptoms coughing and 40C+ fever about three weeks ago).

I took Robitussin and paracetamol and inhaled steam, which made me feel a bit more comfortable. Hope you (and everyone) feel better soon.

onlinelinda · 23/03/2020 14:52

@TitsalinaBumSquash definitely you need need GP advice. That's very tough. Insist on it.

Day 8/9. Flushed here and hot though temp better. STILL in bed.

I'm shocked to have had the ' shielding' text though ,aimed at patients most as risk. I saw they were sending them yesterday, but I just expected to stay in the middle 'vulnerable' category, as I'm don't have severe COPD.

Sat here with GP phoned diagnosed 'probable' Covid, wondering what the hell?!

Same as others about taking the risk out of you haven't had it-another, worse illness would flatten me after this.

On top of everything, youngest D.C. only returning from uni today, for reasons I won't bore with. And DD here. How can this possibly be compatible with shielding????

(By the way cheeselover, it would hurt to fuck, I'm not sure you're supposed to with cv. 😀) Honestly, you've gotta laugh.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/03/2020 15:15

@Hepzibahscaredme very kind of you to reply. Glad you are starting to feel better. Did you seek medical help at any point?

I don't understand why they don't put the GPs in charge of figuring out when we need help. Surely they must have a better idea than the 111 operator I spoke to earlier.

I have ordered one of those fingertip oxygen measuring things.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/03/2020 15:19

@TitsalinaBumSquash hope you get some good medical advice from a professional very soon.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 15:24

Does anybody here have the horrible metallic taste/dry tongue thing?

I've had a few warning signs so have been staying at home for the past 5 days (stomach ache, toilet trouble, back pain, aching limbs, headaches, feeling under the weather and tired, loss of appetite, and this metallic taste)

After panicking all week I've tried to give myself a boost by telling myself it's probably not covid as I haven't had a temp or cough (I'm day 5) but I made a thread earlier about the metallic taste and pretty much everybody who commented said they think I have it.

One poster (hello if you are on here too!) said she had exactly the same and now her lungs are burning. I'm really frightened of developing those symptoms. I have a poor immune system as I had a health issue last year.

My children are still tiny and I'm absolutely beside myself with worry. We don't have a car and ambulances are taking 5 hours to reach people so I'm fucked if I become severe Sad

Sorry for the rambling. I'm having a bit of a panic!

Hepzibahscaredme · 23/03/2020 15:26

@Grapefruits Because it was several weeks ago, I just thought it was a very odd cold, but then couldn't get my GP anyway, so I didn't get any medical advice. (This was probably not wise!)

I was taking my temperature twice a day and drinking loads of water. On the plus side - and this is very unusual for me - I had absolutely no appetite, and have lost nearly two stones!

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/03/2020 15:29

@Roostersmum2 any option to hire a car for the next couple of weeks?

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/03/2020 15:34

@Hepzibahscaredme I have had a temp of 37.8 for 11 days now. It isn't always that high but it gets that high for at least a few hours each day. I am never usually ill. Glad to know feelings of night time suffocation don't necessarily mean one is actually suffocating. I am even having dreams that I can't breathe which then wake me up.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 15:35

@GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit unfortunately not as we're not licence holders. We've always used the tubes and busses. Oh gosh what a mess.

Thinking of you all!

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/03/2020 15:41

@Roostersmum2 I really hope they bring out an immunity test soon. Before I had a car I would always have got a taxi or mini cab in emergencies. Obviously with covid that's not possible. Good luck and hopefully you will absolutely not need to go to hospital.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 15:45

Thank you grapefruit, I hope so.

I may sound ridiculous but those of you with burning lungs, would you be able to walk for 20 minutes if you had to? My hospital is a 20 minute walk away Blush
