We are going to be like Italy

Just like Italy we will be in a few weeks. The park is packed with children!! Weddings are still going ahead with hundreds of people, no one cares. There will be high risk people at the weddings because their mentality is we are not on lockdown so we will continue as normal.

Unfortunately I know a lot of people who are not taking the virus seriously and mock those that do, really pissing me off

Also to add it's a lovely warm sunny day today so I get why no one wants to stay indoors. But how else are we supposed protect ourselves and others

I sincerely hope not. 627 people there died just yesterday Sad.

SeptemberWeddingIHope · 21/03/2020 12:14

Only 5 people allowed at weddings now OP

Marlox · 21/03/2020 12:16

The 5 wedding thing only applies to church weddings i think

chococo · 21/03/2020 12:21

@SeptemberWeddingIHope the 5 people rule is only for weddings at the Church of England. The venue someone I know has booked is still allowing the weddings to go ahead and has asked no more than 500 guests! The wedding is in Easter holidays

I think you're right. If you look at the graphs the UK is actually on a steeper curve than Italy was at that stage which suggests faster contagion rates. PLEASE stay at home.

SeptemberWeddingIHope · 21/03/2020 12:24

The registry office told us we could only have 5 people at our ceremony in April so we've delayed the wedding

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/03/2020 12:24

The regulations will probably have changed before then tbh. I can't see them letting any kind of "mass" gathering go on for much longer.

Holdmenow · 21/03/2020 12:24

To be honest I think the U.K. we’ll come out worse than Italy at this rate!!

FenellaVelour · 21/03/2020 12:25

We are going to be worse off than Italy.

cologne4711 · 21/03/2020 12:25

Weddings won't happen because the venues are closed as of yesterday evening. I guess you might be able to still use a private venue, but not for example a hotel function room.

Juicyfrooty · 21/03/2020 12:27

Theres a social club across the road from me, people are still going there, I can see the smoking area from my window, they are clearly still open.

Is there anywhere this can be reported to?

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2020 12:33

I would ring the police on the non emergency number and report. Council might not be open at a weekend?

Pencilplantironingboard · 21/03/2020 12:33

Yes. Possibly worse.

Again as I say...it will be worse because of ppl thinking/acting like plonkers as seen in these threads!!Hmm

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 21/03/2020 12:40

We're just moving this over to the Coronavirus topic.

thelittlefox · 21/03/2020 12:43

Italy started with more critical care capacity than us.

UnfinishedSenten · 21/03/2020 12:43

I was due to get a married 9th May. I had a call from the venue Thursday the registry office have put a ban on over 6 people. It's not just churches

packetandtripe · 21/03/2020 12:43

worse than Italy, that is a given at this stage.

UnfinishedSenten · 21/03/2020 12:45

We aren't that daft to go ahead with it either. Me and DP decided to cancel last week. We had to hold out for the venue to cancel or postpone otherwise we would of lost 1000's insurance wouldn't of covered us otherwise.

IpeartreeI · 21/03/2020 12:45

How stupid and entitled are people in this country? Let's find out. In about three weeks or so we'll have the answer.

shivermetimbers77 · 21/03/2020 12:50

We are going to be in a far worse state than Italy in two weeks time. Fewer beds, fewer ventilators, ppe equipment for health workers allready running out . Its grim.

RedLentilYellowLentil · 21/03/2020 12:50

As a pp said, we are on a steeper trajectory than Italy. Plus our health system is far less well resourced, in terms of beds, ventilators, staffing and consumables. People are being stupid, yes, but it's largely because the government has given out mixed, diluted and sometimes just plain inaccurate messages over the last month. As well as having asset-stripped the NHS for the last 10 years. It's going to be appalling. Well done, everyone who voted for the Tories. We are all going to be reaping what you sowed.

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 21/03/2020 12:53

This is the numbers compared side by side - it’s genuinely terrifying. I had friends on fb saying they were heading to the pub last night, just beggars belief
