If there was a coronavirus test available for £6 would you buy it from Amazon

If you could buy a test from somewhere like Amazon would you?

It occurs to me if you could test yourself, then you could go back to something of a normal existence. Work, shopping, family visiting.

To me Amazon would be the best distributor and pharmacies of course.

I do mean if you tested that you had been ill with the virus. Wish this site would edit!!

We shouldn’t have to pay for it.

LambriniSocialist · 20/03/2020 15:33

Yes, absolutely. DH and I think we might currently have it, and it would be so good to know. Would pay more than 6 quid as well.

Useryokyesno · 20/03/2020 15:36

Yes I would. I feel testing is so important in tackling this.

ElfDragon · 20/03/2020 15:36

Surely, given how out of control the virus is globally, an antibody test is the only real way we can start to get back to normal life?

Lots of predictions about second waves of the illness in countries which locked down, etc.

And there’s not enough testing going on - in the UK we are only testing hospitalised cases, so no idea how many other people have had it and recovered etc.

Hopefully a reliable test is available soon, in large enough quantities to be able to reassure people.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 20/03/2020 15:36

Yes definitely!!

ElfDragon · 20/03/2020 15:36

Oh, and yes, would happily pay for an accurate test from a reliable provider.

Roselilly36 · 20/03/2020 15:38

I would prefer to pay the NHS for the test tbh for a number of reasons.

notagaincharlie · 20/03/2020 15:39

I'd like the tests to have unique barcodes and an obligation by the patient to enter their result and location into a database.

FthisS · 20/03/2020 15:40

Yes

WinstonWolf · 20/03/2020 15:40

Absolutely. In fact, I was on their website two nights ago to see if they sold them to the general public.

Thisismytimetoshine · 20/03/2020 15:40

Yes, like a shot. I suspect I’ve had it, but would love to be certain.

crazydiamond222 · 20/03/2020 15:42

Yes I would pay £100 for it just for the peace of mind.

tryingtoprep · 20/03/2020 15:43

Definitely. Especially as I've read early treatment improves chances of recovery.

Number3or4 · 20/03/2020 15:50

I would most definitely pay more than that for a few people. I was already wondering if there were any private companies who do testing.

JustUrggghhhh · 20/03/2020 15:52

I would definitely pay for a test, would prefer it through NHS though but would definitely be happy to pay. I'm on day 8 of SI, my symptoms match what the NHS say for CV and I feel dreadful. Would be really beneficial to my mental health knowing I had indeed had it and I can return to my job after 14 days knowing I'm not at risk again! The not knowing is causing my anxiety to sky rocket and I'm nervous about returning to work.

NuclearWinter · 20/03/2020 15:52

I would pay £6 for it. I would really prefer not to pay that £6 to Amazon.

Squiz81 · 20/03/2020 15:55

Definitely would.

notapizzaeater · 20/03/2020 15:57

Absolutely would, just to stop the stress

justasking111 · 20/03/2020 15:57

Well on prescription would be £9, so amazon would be cheaper.

Yes definitely as I've had breathlessness for over a week. Asthmatic so would be amazing to know if I've had it. As having to keep the kids in.
dd2 has classic cv symptoms but it was Sat after half term so no way would we have been tested as no known link to a case and not abroad.
She had fever and then over a week later a cough with 1 V (after having ibuprofen as we didn't know then...) Also lethargy.
She also had really odd thick snot and green it like irritated her skin under her nose. (She also went a bit zombie as she kept blowing raspberries or spitting her water or putting her mouth round door handles like she wanted everyone to catch it.
There is now a case locally so it's certainly possible

SweetMarmalade · 20/03/2020 16:03

Yes

AvocadoOwl · 20/03/2020 16:04

Happily pay £100.

SoupDragon · 20/03/2020 16:06

I wouldn't trust it from Amazon, no. I would happily pay the NHS for one though.

FourTeaFallOut · 20/03/2020 16:07

Especially as I've read early treatment improves chances of recovery.

Are you in the UK? I'm not entirely sure who would treat even if you could prove you have it, there are barely enough resources for those who have it and on death's door.
