How many people do you know who've got it?

I know of three friends of friends who've got the virus. If everyone else is the same then it suggests it's spreading quite rapidly!

None

bellinisurge · 20/03/2020 16:53

Local MP. That's all I know.

Glassio · 20/03/2020 16:56

@Thisismytimetoshine they felt fine last week when still contegous, they dont feel fine now. 3 are nhs workers but 2 live together and only 1 displayed symptoms finally so the other got tested too.
the other is my sister was confirmed after needing to go into hospital after sudden onset of breathing issues and a history of other problems but she has only been confirmed today. She too was one of these people still going for a meal out a few days ago because the restaurants were still open and she "felt fine".

LottieBees19 · 20/03/2020 17:01

Two not confirmed. Both children high temp and cough. Both not tested. So could be something else.

cantdothisnow1 · 20/03/2020 17:04

one person I know has it and is currently in hospital.

Sux2buthen · 20/03/2020 17:07

My household all have coughs but no sniffles or temperature. Sore thick throats and dizziness. Doubt it is covid but we are stàying put

SinglePringle · 20/03/2020 17:38

I think I have it. Tight and burning chest, sore throat, shivery, aches all over, fatigue, ear ache, headache. But no temperature or cough. Been going on for a week and I’ve been self isolating. It feels like flu bad enough to keep me off work but I don’t need hospitalisation. The exhaustion is unbelievable. I’ll guess I’ve got the milder version.

But given that I can’t get tested, who really knows.

Aragog · 20/03/2020 17:50

No confirmed cases a ping at family and friends.

Some with symptoms of a cough, dd included, but none - so far - more than mild symptoms. We are self isolating. Dd has had cold symptoms and a cough. Dh and myself have both coughed a little but not much. I have a tight chest but I'm not sure if that's not just anxiety tbh.

Know of a few others self isolating as one member in the house have a cough but nothing more at present. Fortunately.

Know of two people who have been tested.
FIL - seriously ill and also has a chest infection. He's in hospital but he has tested negative.
Dd' friends little sister - some symptoms, quite mild though. Dd not heard more, despite hearing from the friend, so we assume negative.

MedSchoolRat · 20/03/2020 17:51

My boss sat next to someone who earlier this week announced on twitter that he had the classic symptoms. That's my only link (so far).

Babyroobs · 20/03/2020 17:52

I know 3 people who have it, one in hospital.

OhMy05 · 20/03/2020 17:54

One friends father who sadly passed away a few days ago.
One friend who was developed symptoms thus self isolated but not diagnosed due to non-testing.

SisterVanHelsing · 20/03/2020 17:55

I don't know anyone who's ill currently.

lucymaudmonty · 20/03/2020 18:06

Can anyone tell me if I am being dense here......

At the beginning of Feb I had a Raging temp, cough, chest was sore, really awful pain in my breast bone, exacerbated by coughing, and the worst sore throat I’ve ever had. It was the most ill I've ever felt and I was wiped out for ages afterwards. I had 6 days off work in total but and a couple of weekends that were written off. Nurse practitioner thought I had a bacterial throat infection and It did go away with antibiotics but then the gp I saw afterwards said she thinks it might have been viral in hindsight....clearing up once I had antibiotics was just a coincidence as I got them at the peak....

I asked a friend who is a dr if I could have had it.....he said only if I'd been in contact with some from China. But in the last weekend in Jan I had been to Edinburgh for Chinese New Year celebrations....

What do you think the chances are that I had it??

Nononoandno · 20/03/2020 18:17

I don’t know anyone personally but heard of a few locals

YessicaHaircut · 20/03/2020 18:24

Nobody at all. However one of our friends ended up in hospital in early January with pneumonia (she’s otherwise healthy with no underlying health issues) so I do wonder whether she may have had it.

HoldMyLobster · 20/03/2020 19:09

Turns out tests are taking a week here, so the friend's daughter who was tested on Monday will find out next Monday if she has it. Given that she has a fever, and was at school with a child who's tested positive, I'm guessing it'll be positive.

Drivemybluecar · 20/03/2020 19:28

I know someone who’s mum is confirmed and I. Hospital

mindproject · 20/03/2020 19:32

None. I only know 2 people that are self-isolating. Most people I know are carrying on as normal and washing their hands a bit more.

itsgettingweird · 20/03/2020 19:33

Those who know confirmed cases are you happy to describe how ill people were and their symptoms, period of illness etc?

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/03/2020 19:40

I asked a friend who is a dr if I could have had it.....he said only if I'd been in contact with some from China

The chances of you coming into contact with someone from China i would have thought was pretty high.

I was in the West End just before I went down with this. A couple of minutes walk from China Town. I might not have caught it then but we live in a huge multicultural metropolis so we probably come into contact with people from a lot of countries around the world just going shopping or eating out.

Most towns and cities have people from China and many other nationalities living there.

So yes those that think they have had the virus over Christmas/Jan/Feb time probably did come into contact with someone from China

I don’t know why your dr friend would think it was improbably

BertieBotts · 20/03/2020 19:46

Three (am in Germany)

Glassio · 20/03/2020 19:53

@itsgettingweird my friends who have it started with just feeling a bit tired, headachey and tightish chest for first 3 days, then cough started but not that horrendous. by Day 4 they were all feeling progressively worse and are wiped out / feels like bad v bad chest infection. its day 5 and 6 now but they are all still bad no sign of it lifting yet.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 20/03/2020 20:06

I don't know them personally but there are 2 confirmed cases at my partner's work and 2 of my mums friends also have it. So far they all have mild symptoms and are recovering at home.

copycopypaste · 20/03/2020 20:13

No one

LefttoherownDevizes · 20/03/2020 20:15

so DH and DD are as confirmed as can be. DH was shattered and achey and went to bed. Woke up next day with temp, achey, headache and breathlessness. Next day (today) headache, fatigue, aches, temp on and off and breathlessness, tiny but of a cough.

DD started with odd cough, sore throat, aches and fatigue. She now has a big cough, wheezes, aches , sore throat and breathlessness. The coughing is making her v lightheaded and dizzy. She is a day ahead DH.

I have had a sore throat for a week but that's three only think so I think it's unrelated
