How many people do you know who've got it?

I know of three friends of friends who've got the virus. If everyone else is the same then it suggests it's spreading quite rapidly!

I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who thinks they know someone who thinks they had it

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 20/03/2020 13:41

We're self isolating with coughs, keep veering between we definitely don't have it to maybe we have it really mildly

^same here.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/03/2020 13:43

I don't know anyone who has it or suspects they have it.

tangledyarn · 20/03/2020 13:43

Myself and a friend have both been told by gp and 111 that we are 'highly likely' to have it. I know lots of other people self isolating but maybe not with such specific symptoms. No testing being done still despite being a hcp.I've felt really awful, but oxygen is ok, so I'm just staying at home unless I get worse. It was the choice between an ambulance/medicar or a tel appt and I felt the former was overkill and dont want to use a resource I dont need at the moment, I've been in bed for a week..hoping I'm getting better now.. we'll see.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 20/03/2020 13:45

5 - but of course they're not testing anyone so - who knows? These are all people who have had symptoms and are now self isolating.

fussychica · 20/03/2020 13:50

None. Hope it stays that way. In a county that has very few confirmed cases at this time.

Another123 · 20/03/2020 14:01

None confirmed. But me and DP both had fever. DP works with someone who came into work with a persistent cough all last week. This week someone else he works with has called 111 as struggling to breathe. One of our friends we saw at the weekend (pre symptoms) has fever and cough.

It may not be COVID but shows exactly why social distancing is important.

HoldMyLobster · 20/03/2020 14:19

I know one middle school child confirmed positive through testing after showing symptoms.

Diagnosed a couple of days after schools closed, so every chance half the school has it. Many of my friends have children at that school. Several of those friends are doctors.

PieceOfMaria · 20/03/2020 14:20

I know of one friend whose teenaged son is showing symptoms, not too serious so far and unconfirmed as CV but they are isolating anyway.

Jenasaurus · 20/03/2020 14:21

I know several suspected cases told to self isolate but no confirmed

starrysimon · 20/03/2020 14:23

The Grandma (mid 70s) of someone I know has died from. They posted a heart wrenching tribute on FB whilst also reminding people the importance of social distancing and self isolating. They also used it to highlight that all cases/deaths aren’t being disclosed to the public for quite some time. Hospitals as lying about whether they are treating people or not. It is very worrying that our local hospital hasn’t disclosed that that have had a virus death and their family agrees so it’s not a privacy thing

Jocasta2018 · 20/03/2020 14:25

In Italy, a friend was hospitalised with suspected CV. Tested negative twice and diagnosed with severe pneumonia. Now out of hospital.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 20/03/2020 14:26

3 colleagues plus their families. Not confirmed as they can't get through to 111 but the symptoms are spot on. We're in London and travel a lot for work.

This is about 6 people in total. Of them I think 2 are really struggling. 1 came on very quickly with a fever the other has been coughing and self isolating for around 10-14 days & working through it but now feel really rough.

Worriedaboutundiagnosed · 20/03/2020 14:31

I don't personally know any confirmed cases. I do know a few who are showing the symptoms, but in the absence of any testing, it's hard to say whether they have it or not.

Of the people I know who are ill, some are convinced it's covid19 and others are convinced it isn't - despite having the same symptoms! They're all self isolating, though, just in case!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 20/03/2020 14:31

None, either confirmed or suspected.

istherelifeafter40 · 20/03/2020 14:31

A friend's child got pneumonia out of nowhere. Not confirmed Covid as not admitted to hospital - sent home with antibiotics.

utterlybutterly8 · 20/03/2020 14:31

None. Hope it stays that way. In a county that has very few confirmed cases at this time.

Given the low number of confirmed cases in Britain, I'm very surprised that I know of two people who've got it in the UK. And I don't even know that many people! Maybe it's just coincidence, but it could also suggest that far more people have it than what the experts are estimating.

I suppose another explanation is that what they have is something else (like flu?) that is close to coronavirus but not actually it.

OP posts:
isittheholidaysyet · 20/03/2020 14:33

None.

Drogonssmile · 20/03/2020 14:35

I also had a horrendous illness over December/January. I clearly remember because I had a fever and persistent cough before Christmas and the cough didn't go until about mid January. My youngest DS had it first. He also had a cough that lasted about 6 weeks. DH had mild symptoms and DS1 didn't have anything noticeable. We've said ever since this all started that it sounded like the same thing.

TwistinMyMelon · 20/03/2020 14:36

I luckily know no one personally close to me. However have heard of lots of friends of friends. Also I am a GP and have spoken to several patients on the phone who almost certainly have it. They all have a very dry tight sounding cough, very high temps that go on for several days, and once one family member gets it, everybody gets it. I think you definitely know about it if you get it.

HarrietTheShy · 20/03/2020 14:36

I know four, including me. I didn't catch it from any of them.

MUMALLMIGHTY · 20/03/2020 14:37

so scary. but then surely if you compare it to flu it is a lot less dangerous than flu i would have thought?

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 20/03/2020 14:40

But if 85 per cent have no symptoms then this thread is meaningless. Many is us will have it and not realise.

I have several friends with non specific symptoms just now

Juanbablo · 20/03/2020 14:43
  1. I don't know anyone with symptoms or confirmed case.
