He looks like he hasn't slept for a week. I never thought the day would come when I'd feel sorry for Boris and think that Trump sounded professional Confused(in his press conference today). Everything is upside down. We're fucked, aren't we?

I don’t feel sorry for him.

He spent weeks telling us to wash our hands and sing happy birthday because he didn’t want to disrupt the economy, while the World Health Organisation looked on horrified.

He’s taking the right actions now but lives will be lost because he did not act sooner.

As for Richi Sunack (

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 18/03/2020 19:34

He certainly didn’t expect this. It would be funny if it wasn’t so bad!

Cam77 · 18/03/2020 19:34

It shows how insular some people in the UK are. I live in Ireland and literally the whole country is shaking its head in dismay at the UK. I have friends in China who are horrified by what they’re hearing in the UK (they are all getting paid by the way, as the “evil Chinese government” mandated that wages must be paid as normal, looking after the workers first, safely at home with their children - the stark opposite to the Tories). I have relatives in Spain who are terrified for people back home given the zero social distancing in Britain and reports of already 70,000 UK cases, even as they face their own huge crisis. The Tories have done incredible work so far.

Roussette · 18/03/2020 19:36

I think he's really working for his money you know. Must be having constant meetings etc It must be tough being the prime minister with all this going on

Not sure whether that is posted tongue in cheek...

user764329056 · 18/03/2020 19:36

He wanted to be the helm, he has to steer the ship

RickOShay · 18/03/2020 19:36

Sorry for Boris Grin
That’s actually quite funny

CendrillonSings · 18/03/2020 19:37

zero social distancing in Britain

Zero? Really?

Mydogatemypurse · 18/03/2020 19:37

Poor disabled, vulnerable, marginalised, abused, zero hour contracted, sanctioned, homeless and sick people.
I havnt hit an inch in my heart of compassion for him and his murderous crew. He wanted the job. Step up and do it properly.

Egghead68 · 18/03/2020 19:37

As for Richi Sunack (sp?) today when he was asked if it was reasonable for people to live on SSP that is a fraction of the average wage he said that SSP is just part of the benefits package and that people also get free health care as another part of the safety net(!)

swampusdonkus · 18/03/2020 19:38

I'm not a Tory voter by any stretch of the imagination but I would much prefer our current PM to have more gravitas and authority; we need a PM who we can trust at a time like this; who we can believe has our best interests at heart. I don't get that with Boris. He has done so many U-turns in a matter of days - on herd immunity, on schools, on testing, on social distancing. I don't think he has been in control of the situation, and is just a mouthpiece for people behind the scenes who are making the big decisions. I do feel a little empathy for him; he wasn't prepared for this, he probably thought being PM would be an easier ride than this, but he needs to raise his game. Whether he is up to the task remains to be seen.

Mydogatemypurse · 18/03/2020 19:39

More lives lost under their selfish and incompetent rule. Urgh

JunkshopLil · 18/03/2020 19:39

I think Boris is doing just fine. I shudder to think of the alternatives we might have had.

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/03/2020 19:39

Poor Boris my arse. Poetic justice. Agreed. Totally. I hope he starts to appreciate the weight he and his Parliamentary cronies put on Theresa May’s shoulders. And their weight was all about personal greed, not lives. He is nothing like Churchill.

Namechangervaver · 18/03/2020 19:39

You think Boris is doing a good job? Wow!

Where did I say that?Hmm

Mydogatemypurse · 18/03/2020 19:40

You think hes doing just fine. Christ.

Petronius16 · 18/03/2020 19:43

No. He's doing very little, just making appearances - the guys alongside him and in the back rooms are doing all the work.

Anyone (apart from Boris), including Corbyn can see it's nonsense to keep a doctor at home because her child is ill. Do the test, get her back to work, or not if she tests positive.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/03/2020 19:44

I would not want to be in his shoes right now. No matter what he does, it will be wrong

Me neither. Really felt for him tonight.

JaneCope · 18/03/2020 19:45

I think he is doing a good job (not Tory voter). He is guided by expertise and I am thankful for that. There is no-one who can be sure of the right calls to make, even when presented with all the evidence. It might be really effective, it might be a bit effective, it might make matters worse, and, whilst that would be awful, in the absence of complete incompetence/wilful neglect, I will blame the awfulness of the situation on the virus, not the poor buggers who were tasked with extrapolating inadequate data and making the call.

FingersXssd83 · 18/03/2020 19:46

Hahaha poor Boris? Has a strategy, flip flops and implements measures waay too late that contradicts his strategy.

They've known about the potential of CV for months and what have they done... lack of tests, ventilators, NHS workforce. Fuck all. It's an utter shambles.

Cutting the health service to the bone and putting profit before people is going to be shown up for what it is... immoral.

Rant over.

timetest · 18/03/2020 19:46

I wonder if Rishi Sunak is eyeing up Boris’s job. He is sounding more in control than his boss.

MillicentMartha · 18/03/2020 19:47

I kind of feel, he’s got what he deserves. But the rest of us don’t deserve it.

He’s no Churchill, is he?

JaneCope · 18/03/2020 19:49

I think suggesting he got what he deserved/it is karma or similar is an appalling thing to say.

Roselilly36 · 18/03/2020 19:49

Why would anyone feel sorry for Boris, he wanted the job, time to face the reality of being PM.

Wetfloortiles · 18/03/2020 19:50

I have to say, I am starting to like him!

RickOShay · 18/03/2020 19:51

Poor Boris my hairy arse
