He looks like he hasn't slept for a week. I never thought the day would come when I'd feel sorry for Boris and think that Trump sounded professional Confused(in his press conference today). Everything is upside down. We're fucked, aren't we?

Thanks for your constructive input nanslayer 🙄

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:09

He wanted to be PM for so long. I call this poetic justice.

Marpan · 18/03/2020 19:10

He’s good. I think he’s trying to keep spirits up In light of all this.

No prime minister has had to deal with this before. It is a heath crisis that hasn’t existed since the nhs started up either.

Boris really just says what the advisors tell him though.

The scientist has had to back track a bit on the herd thing....

soggyweather · 18/03/2020 19:11

Well he wanted to be like his hero Churchill and here's his moment! Someone somewhere is having a laugh.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 18/03/2020 19:11

He wanted to be PM for so long. I call this poetic justice

Totally agree. I find it bemusing- he's craved this power for years. Now he finally has it and he's got the worst emergency crisis the UK has seen since WW2. You wanted it Bojo so have at it! - sorry you wont get much sleep for the next 6 months cackle

Bluntness100 · 18/03/2020 19:13

I also agree with you op, he’s went from dealing with brexit to this, and whatever he does some fucker is going to say it’s wrong, it’s unfair or whatever.

MrsMGE · 18/03/2020 19:14

I feel sorry for him because he's looking poorly.

But he's out of his depth and he always has been. Definitely not the leader for times like these, and it's already showing.

LittleYorkshireLass · 18/03/2020 19:14

@Namechangervaver

Yep, what a time for Bozza to be PM. I do admire everything he and his team have done so far. Can't fault it.

Imagine all this with Corbyn... shudder! Shock

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 19:15

I think he is a leader for a time like this. Even when I’m not convinced on the timing.

lyralalala · 18/03/2020 19:16

I actually chuckled this afternoon when Teresa May asked him at question time if he had a "sensible exit policy" for the virus if it lasts long term. It smelled of "fuck you, you wanted the job and now you've got it sunshine".

His face was a picture because he knew that people everywhere were chuckling at the irony

Dongdingdong · 18/03/2020 19:17

We can keep whining about how shit he is or we can start trying to pull together. I couldn't stand him prior to this awful time but it's quite clear he is giving it his all as are all his advisors. He must be terrified, it's all on him and he's stood up there doing it.

This.

chomalungma · 18/03/2020 19:18

His comments on Brexit were ridiculous.

No thought at all about it. And all the consequences

Growingboys · 18/03/2020 19:19

I think Boris is doing a good job. So glad he's in charge and not that anti-semitic lunatic Corbyn. Thank god.

MasakaBuzz · 18/03/2020 19:19

@ Morgan12

“God just imagine Corbyn right now. He would probably be making sure the most vulnerable members of our society were a priority. Fucking idiot that he is”.

You can not possibly be this stupid. Nobody can. Don’t you realise that Corbyn is as much part of the establishment as Boris? Corbyn would protect his own, just as much as Boris. The only people any politicians think of are themselves.

Corbyn would be worse. That’s why with one of the worst lot of Tories on record, Corbyn couldn’t beat them.

GirlYouHaveNoFaithInMedicine · 18/03/2020 19:19

*I can put my hand on my heart and say I have never voted conservative in all my 40+ years of voting. I am vehemently pro European and thus about as anti Brexit as you can find. However even I am prepared to say I think he is doing ok in a pretty thankless and difficult task.

Trump however has always been an imbecile and remains one*

Agree with this.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 18/03/2020 19:19

May is clearly aiming to be to BJ what Ted was to Maggie, only not so grumpy in the aisle seat.

Poor Old Boris My Arse. He likes a Classical reference: Icarus and all that.

theflushedzebra · 18/03/2020 19:20

He made a very bad call not shutting down earlier. That call will cost lives. That may haunt him - or he may get through it. Who knows. A long way to go yet.

Ozziewozzie · 18/03/2020 19:20

I feel Boris is doing a great job. He relates well to the public. I can’t stand Trump. Not that I’d compare Boris to Trump. In very different leagues. No PM would find this easy to be fair. As always, whatever decisions are made, some will love, some will dislike. This has been a big slap in the face and under the circumstances, I think the only people letting us down are the morons who have selective hearing and ignorance.

LittleYorkshireLass · 18/03/2020 19:20

@MarshaBradyo

I think he is a leader for a time like this.

This. ^ As I say, imagine if Corbyn was PM at this time? It doesn't bear thinking about Shock

NettleTea · 18/03/2020 19:20

I think Boris thought he was going to have a right jolly being prime minister and doing the Brexit thing with his champagne cronies

This has blown those plans right out of the water, and, as he is PM, he has to appear daily and there is no chance for him to slope off to a mansion in the country or an island in the Caribbean. He is stuck, in London, right in the epicentre of Corona City and having to do socialist things to save the nation.

Karma is a bitch

1forsorrow · 18/03/2020 19:20

what should he be doing then? And who do you think would do a better job? Well he did pretty well nothing till this week when they suddenly realised it was spreading faster than they wanted it to. How many people were saying letting things like the Cheltenham Festival and huge music concerts go ahead was madness? Oh I forgot he did tell us, many times, to wash our hands. Well done that man.

Was talking to someone in Italy today and they were horrified that we hadn't seen what was happening there and treated it more seriously.

He needs to get a grip of food distribution for a start.

WingBingo · 18/03/2020 19:20

Great leaders have amazing experts in their field with them to consult with.

Great leaders cannot be experts in everything, why would they?

They listen to what they say and then inform. Knowing who to listen to and when to listen is what Boris needs to do effectively now.

I’m not a fan, but I do think he is being pretty solid right now.

AdoptedBumpkin · 18/03/2020 19:21

TBH I feel Boris is paying the price for not reacting more quickly.

chomalungma · 18/03/2020 19:21

God just imagine Corbyn right now. He would probably be making sure the most vulnerable members of our society were a priority. Fucking idiot that he is

This,.PMQs was noticeable for how much Johnson agreed with Corbyn who was addressing the key issues of self employed, renters etc.

All the people who he has talked about for the past few years.

EverythingChanges321 · 18/03/2020 19:21

You think Boris is doing a good job? Wow!

Thank god we’ve got Varadkar.

He’s a million times better than BoJo and despite being a caretaker PM, taking the decision to close schools and colleges last week was the right one. The majority of people have listened to the advice and are taking this pandemic far more seriously than some in the U.K. have so far done.

Also, there’s nowhere near the level of panic and stockpiling over here.
In fact, no empty shelves in the 4 supermarkets where I live. You can even buy hand gel in the local shops.
