He looks like he hasn't slept for a week. I never thought the day would come when I'd feel sorry for Boris and think that Trump sounded professional Confused(in his press conference today). Everything is upside down. We're fucked, aren't we?

Jesus, are people still bleating on about Corbyn and Labour? We haven’t had a Labour government for ten years. When are Tories going to own their mess?

Quite. But after a decade in power, there's pretty much nothing Tories can say other than '...but...but...Corbyn...might have been even more shit...'

It's all they've got.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:19

He would be more shit even a Labour supporter knows that.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:19

And if Tories aren’t that great that’s pretty low.

apricotnuts · 18/03/2020 22:26

He would be more shit even a Labour supporter knows that.

I am a Labour supporter, I don’t think a Labour govt now would be worse. I would have a bit more trust their aim would be to protect your average worker financially and physically, although sure they would make mistakes.

NeckPainChairSearch · 18/03/2020 22:27

Grin There we go

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:28

It’s true Smile

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 22:29

They really are a sad, pathetic bunch of idiots. They can’t or won’t even defend what they’ve voted for.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:29

Worst results in how many years, would tank the economy. Not worth considering how he’d deal with this.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:30

Lol bet you can’t either.

apricotnuts · 18/03/2020 22:31

I don’t think the Wired article linked to above was making the case to go for the approach our govt was choosing last week, though thankfully changing course now. It was recommending the S Korea, Hong Kong approach, containment of certain groups and areas plus thorough testing. Without testing, limited data to control rate of spread.

LittleRootie · 18/03/2020 22:32

What do people want from a leader? They don't expect them to know everything, solve everything but they do expect clarity, authority and empathy.

Johnson has none of those. If he isn't given a slogan to chant he can barely string a comprehensible sentence together, he dithers about waiting for someone else to make decisions and he clearly has no notion of the day-to-day lives of ordinary people trying to get by.

StillDisappointed · 18/03/2020 22:33

He looked shattered, pale, disheveled and his mouth sounded dry when speaking (dehydrated?)

Still don't feel sorry for him though. He fucked over the self employed, those in hospitality, theatres, cinemas, bars/pubs and shops in one swoop with absolutely no plans to support them. The first thing he does is bail out the large and medium businesses who probably can survive for now.

Smellbellina · 18/03/2020 22:34

He looked shattered, pale, disheveled

He always looks like that!

Chipperfish · 18/03/2020 22:37

Part of me feels a sense of schadenfreude over it all - you wanted the job Boris, you thought you deserved it, you schemed, lied, manipulated and wormed your way to the top - and guess what, the responsibility lies with you, and you arent competent
But the bigger part of me is furious that the UK is having to face this with Boris, Cummings and the rest of the 3rd rate bunch of clowns in charge-

StillDisappointed · 18/03/2020 22:37

@Smellbellina True. I don't think, for all his wealth, the man owns a comb. Or a mirror.

Karenenya · 18/03/2020 22:38

I honestly think he is doing his best under unprecedented circumstances. He couldn't have foreseen all this but he is stepping up to the mark as best he can. He is taking advice from experts and is at least visibly answering concerns from different sectors of society.

apricotnuts · 18/03/2020 22:40

I do wish people would shit up about JC. He isn't fucking Jesus.

Your comment makes no sense Bellatrix as at the time you commented the only time Corbyn was mentioned in this thread was by people insisting Corbyn would be bad.

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 22:40

Completely agree @Chipperfish. He wanted to be king of the world, let him fill his boots.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:42

Do people honestly think Corbyn would be better? I really can’t see it. He alone (and his policies) put me and a huge amount of people off in the last election.

chomalungma · 18/03/2020 22:42

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

Remember that this Government were boycotting certain media outlets and were still boycotting them during the start of this crisis.

Eventually, they decided to appear on the Today programme.

He joked about Brexit today.

I do feel for him - but I can't forgive the Tories for what they have done over the past decade.

I hope that some good can come out of this.

chomalungma · 18/03/2020 22:44

Do people honestly think Corbyn would be better

I think he would have thought about the self employed,, renters and people in the gig economy without having to be reminded by people about them.

I think he would have looked at the rate of sick pay.

Don't you?

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 22:45

Why are we even discussing Corbyn? He won’t even be the leader of the opposition in a couple of weeks.

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 22:47

The renters can’t be ignored and aren’t, it was a huge bailout in the same vein as other European countries. Spending was high in the budget for a Cons party.

Labour under Corbyn can’t be trusted to deal with the economy so it doesn’t completely tank.

MrsMGE · 18/03/2020 22:48

I actually can't stand either Corbyn or Johnson, for different reasons.

But regardless of my dislike of Corbyn, I think Labour would have done a better job now.

It's all hypothetical and therefore meaningless now. We have to deal with what we've got, one day at a time.

lubeybooby · 18/03/2020 22:48

I'm not a Boris fan but he does look worn out

I have to disagree on Trump sounding professional though. He sounded particularly weak, insincere, incompetent, out of his depth and I had to mute him it was so bad. I really tried to give it a fair go.
