littlemissmuffins - sky news live on youtube

fedup21 · 16/03/2020 17:39

they are being asked to avoid social contact.

Like work?

wonderstuff · 16/03/2020 17:39

Being streamed on BBC News. They have contradicted themselves they said 14 days a few minutes ago, now they're saying 7 days.

TrafalgarSquare · 16/03/2020 17:39

On my FB they're going on about their gym classes - oh of course we'll carry on it's just advisory!
Might as well not have had the announcement

TheReluctantCountess · 16/03/2020 17:39

@littlemissmuffins it’s on FB - look for BBC

BovaryX · 16/03/2020 17:40

Oh ffs so now if we live alone it’s 7 days still. But if a multiple household It’s 14. They didn’t even say that clearly.

The reason for that is if someone in the household has Corona, there is a 7 day period advised. However, if someone in the house gets infected, they may be asymptomatic for seven days before symptoms manifest Hence 14 days in total.

CouldBeOuting · 16/03/2020 17:40

So I’m not allowed to go to my local Micro pub where I usually mix with around half a dozen people without touching any of them BUT I do have to go to work in a school full of people and sticky children. I do have to handle the registers and books touched by other people, I do have to handle the cash, I do have to give first aid support to the children.

I’m at much more risk at school than I am in the micro pub which May now go out of business.

HonestlyItsFine · 16/03/2020 17:40

So they said they are going to test in the community? Really unclear.

MeganBacon · 16/03/2020 17:41

It's really not about Boris, it's about the scientific advice he is taking. Don't use this as an opportunity to slag Boris off, that's just a time consuming side show when we have real problems to focus on.

alloutoffucks · 16/03/2020 17:41

No we are not now in line with other countries. It is a bloody mess. Unclear messages with no action to make them happen.
Seriously this is just a shit show.

TonOfLead · 16/03/2020 17:41

So is it official that 'vulnerable groups' means anyone entitled to a free flu vaccine? Have the government confirmed that?

And does that mean I need to take my kids out of school for the next 12 weeks as I fall into that category?

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2020 17:41

7 for those living alone. 14 in multiple households. We need ti wait for some media we trust to make sense of this mess.

Jaxhog · 16/03/2020 17:41

It's all very well to say 'test, test, test'. The problems are:

  1. it takes NHS staff away from saving lives
  2. if people test negative, it makes them less likely to take notice of symptoms next time
  3. people are more likely to ignore other things like staying away from places with lots of other people

The only stat that matters is deaths. They don't need tests.

midgebabe · 16/03/2020 17:41

They said 7 days if you live by yourself

14 days for a household...when you live with other people

That's 7 for the initial case plus another 7 because it's most likely that everyone in the household will get it, but later than the first person

millerjane · 16/03/2020 17:41

Can Boris answer a question without deferring?

midgebabe · 16/03/2020 17:42

He should defer ...that's the point of getting people who know what they are talking about in

alloutoffucks · 16/03/2020 17:42

@TrafalgarSquare That is what Boris wants. So he can say well I told you so, without having to make any difficult decisions to actually enforce any of this,.

QuentinWinters · 16/03/2020 17:42

He's a cab driver in London, people have been dwindling and he's been waiting hours between jobs. Now London is going to be even emptier but because there's no actual lockdown, and he doesn't need to self-isolate he can't claim anything to help him through.
How are people like him meant to survive? I'll help as much as I can obviously, but even I can't do much.
I think this is why everything is "advisory" - so the govt/businesses don't have to pay. Angry

MrsFogi · 16/03/2020 17:43

So I need to go on the train and tube to work but must cancel all my social activities??? Sounds like bollocks to me. People will not comply in the face of such a lack of logic. Same with schools - I am not cancelling all the dcs other activities if they are still attending school.

TwelveIslands · 16/03/2020 17:43

My own personal opinion about schools is that fewer and fewer children are going to school anyway and that they are remaining open for those people who still need to go to work, or are still able to go to work.

This is not the end of the measures, as they've mentioned "months or even longer" a few times.

Just said that more precise advice regarding vulnerable people will beput on the website because it's not easy to say it all in a press conference.

BovaryX · 16/03/2020 17:43

Vulnerable groups include those with a chronic health condition. Like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease

alloutoffucks · 16/03/2020 17:43

@jaxhog WHO are saying test, test and test. I will trust what they say.

Jaxhog · 16/03/2020 17:44

I’m at much more risk at school than I am in the micro pub which May now go out of business.

It isn't either-or. Risk is accumulative. We need you to be in school (sorry). Don't raise your risk by going to the pub as well.

JennyWren · 16/03/2020 17:44

And if it is safe for my children to go to school, I assume it is as safe for them to go to karate, Scouts, swimming. Infinitely smaller groups and much easier to make sure they wash their hands before and after... no??

TwelveIslands · 16/03/2020 17:44

I think this is why everything is "advisory" - so the govt/businesses don't have to pay

Yup! Basically they're a bunch of cunts! They'll have to do it eventually otherwise the country will completely collapse, but they'll hold off as long as possible.
