Piers Morgan right for once

Taking to Twitter, 54-year-old Piers said:
“Tonight (Wednesday evening), 1000s of Atletico Madrid fans are in Liverpool - despite their own city being in virtual lockdown, INCLUDING their own matches, because Madrid's been ravaged by Coronavirus.
This is total madness. What the hell is the British Government doing????"

I would only add this was at a time when the British government was already in possession of the facts as to the projected scale/impact of the virus on the UK. Absolutely treasonous and I do not use that word lightly.

Are you going to tell us your long list of relevant qualifications then?
Or just reiterate your dislike of naughty words?

AnotherNightWatering · 13/03/2020 20:10

I actually am not sure we are going against WHO guidelines, although someone better qualified may contradict me. I've only glanced at it, but looking at the table, we are surely doing the stuff recommended in all situations, and the "stopping mass gatherings" is up to your local situation.

Anyway, for those interested in the WHO recommendations and with more time than me to read them, here's the link.

Yes AnotherNight, too many people basing their opinions on headlines without reading the full reports

The experience of China, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and others clearly demonstrates that aggressive testing and contact tracing, combined with social distancing measures and community mobilization, can prevent infections and save lives.

I’m not sure if that will link properly.
I’m not reading red-tops or the Daily Mail of sensationalised stories, I have an opinion based on the documents I am reading.
You’re correct @AnotherNightWatering it does say to look at local areas, but I interpret the piece as suggesting sitting back and waiting could be of great detriment.
I have no Grandparents or anyone of that matter at risk. I’m not panic buying etc either. I do think wrong decisions are being made though. That’s all. And I can’t stand Piers Morgan.

AnotherNightWatering · 13/03/2020 21:57

And I can’t stand Piers Morgan
Something we can agree on... Grin

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 22:02

@AnotherNightWatering

We’ll end on mutual agreement Wink

I sort of just want to get it done, assuming it’s like a chicken pox type thing. Where for most it’s a 1 time thing.
If they wanted volunteers to be infected, I’d be entirely up for that. You could self isolate, prepare and know this was it.
If your going to get seriously ill with it, you’d get seriously ill anyway but if it was government led they could plan it so areas had beds available.

You could get it done and just move on being able to help others.

longwayoff · 14/03/2020 06:51

Oh look. Abrupt U turn re crowds by PM. Boris is a fool but we knew that when we got him so no surprise there. Given that, I'd choose his company over that of Piers M but only just, they're a pair of puffed up, pontificating buffoons with opinions shaped by their audience of the day.

contentedsoul · 14/03/2020 08:05

@EvilPea
Me too, if its coming, if sooner get a dose (hopefully) recover, then move on with life

contentedsoul · 14/03/2020 08:30

If > I’d
Stupid phone

I agree with almost all of Piers Morgan's views, however I can only stand a few minutes of him before I reach for the remote. Hate how he talks over everybody and an intelligent woman like Susannah Reid has been reduced to using facial expressions to have a say on anything.
