Piers Morgan right for once

Taking to Twitter, 54-year-old Piers said:
“Tonight (Wednesday evening), 1000s of Atletico Madrid fans are in Liverpool - despite their own city being in virtual lockdown, INCLUDING their own matches, because Madrid's been ravaged by Coronavirus.
This is total madness. What the hell is the British Government doing????"

I would only add this was at a time when the British government was already in possession of the facts as to the projected scale/impact of the virus on the UK. Absolutely treasonous and I do not use that word lightly.

And yet he is one of the few men publicly standing up for women's sport not be invaded by men. Hmmm...

There's no hmmm... about it. He's a hideous, raging misogynistic bully. Stopped clocks and all that.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 11:35

he is currently knocking it out of the park

Even I know this one!Grin

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 13/03/2020 11:42

Yes and hence why I'm so uncomfortable agreeing with him.

The fight for the rights of women and girls is too big though to not accept to the voice of a prominent man though. Even if he is a misogynist and a bully. He's the only kind of man that TRAs will think twice before attacking.

koshkatt · 13/03/2020 11:45

Well Neck we shall have to agree to disgagree on that.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/03/2020 11:55

I agree with Piers on this. Unbelievably irresponsible to allow this to happen, and not giving me much faith in our leaders tbh.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/03/2020 11:59

Swedish friend in Stockholm told me yesterday that they had 500 cases, mostly in Stockholm.

But I see in today’s Times that it was 683 at the time of going to press.
And IIRC their whole population is only about the same as London’s.

Her son and 2 gdcs are ill with something undiagnosed and she’s been told not to visit.
But unlike here, she’s seen no panic buying at all.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 11:59

Tbh I am massively emotionally confused about this all. As are other students. We want to be safe and help others be safe while at the same time we are fuming because we just went through 4 weeks of strikes and will now lose more and worry about our grades.

koshkatt · 13/03/2020 12:56

Fume away.

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 17:56

@AnotherNightWatering

But the government is not trying to stop the virus, because it can't. So far, the numbers are small. Soon, schools may close and big meetings may stop. But at the moment, the government's decision is to allow the spread. That's the logical strategy, which may be different from our illogical feelings.

We are now in the second phase : DELAY
Allowing unchecked visitors from a locked down area in the middle of their peak period of the transmission is not logical.

I put my faith in the WHO scientists whose advice is stark contrast to what BoJo has suggested.

He’s a Tory twit who is probably quite happy at letting natural selection pick off the vulnerable esp when they will be keeping their pension in a nice pot for themselves.

But yes, let’s wash our hands and just advise granny not to on that cruise .

AnotherNightWatering · 13/03/2020 18:07

I put my faith in British scientists who are giving advice specific to the UK and our local situation (while taking into account WHO advice, no doubt), and which Johnson is following. There is no good outcome here, just least worst. Washing hands is good advice.

PreseaCombatir · 13/03/2020 18:10

I put my faith in the WHO scientists whose advice is stark contrast to what BoJo has suggested
It’s not fucking Boris though, is it? He’s not decided this on his own.
Sir Patrick Vallance is your man, and his team.
Stop being so fucking ignorant

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 18:47

@PreseaCombatir

He is the PM Hmm
He absolutely should listen and follow the advice he is given by those he has appointed to do so.
However , he also has the ability to look at other countries, the trends of the virus etc.
He is being ignorant not me.
However maybe you need a little sit and a cuppa as you sound a bit tense Wink

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 18:49

@AnotherNightWatering
There are better outcomes though if better strategies were put in place.
In my opinion.
The we are ‘doomed anyway’ motto is a bit ridiculous and unworthy considering the knowledge we have of what has happened elsewhere.

PreseaCombatir · 13/03/2020 18:53

I’m fine, just wondering why people have such an issue with the PM trusting his own people, as to the trends of the virus, and when they think the most apposite time to go into lockdown.
They don’t trust people, and I don’t blame them. People seem to think even a seven day isolation don’t apply to them. Also, I doubt some of the measures taken by other countries would be acceptable here....
but still, I’m sure you know better than them

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 18:57

@PreseaCombatir

Yes possibly I do.

TheMarzipanDildo · 13/03/2020 19:02

He’s a twat and I’m of the lentil-weaving socialistic vegetarian variety but I agree with a surprising amount that Piers Morgan says!

AnotherNightWatering · 13/03/2020 19:02

There are better outcomes though if better strategies were put in place. In my opinion.
Do you have a qualification then that means Johnson should listen to you rather than his advisors? Smile

And me saying there is no good outcome here, just least worst, is a fact, not a "doomed anyway" motto.

PreseaCombatir · 13/03/2020 19:06

You think you know more than the Uk’s chief scientific adviser?
Of course you do dear.

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 19:06

@AnotherNightWatering

How do you know that I don’t? Grin

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 19:08

@PreseaCombatir

I’m sure you know better than them

You suggested it...Are you sure you’re ok pet?

AnotherNightWatering · 13/03/2020 19:08

Your comments suggest that... Grin

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 19:10

@AnotherNightWatering
They are but my own opinion, that’s all.

PreseaCombatir · 13/03/2020 19:10

Well, if cryptic talk and smugness could keep us safe, sauvignon would outlive is all

halcyondays · 13/03/2020 19:12

They are not taking the advice of the WHO, that’s the problem. They’re completely going against their advice. Almost all the other countries seem to be following it but we are using Special British Science instead.

sauvignonblancplz · 13/03/2020 19:17

@PreseaCombatir

You set the tone for the discussion...
It’s not fucking Boris though, is it?
Stop being so fucking ignorant

What would you call yourself with that level of profanity and aggression, then your patronising dear

No type of difference of opinion is ever tolerated is it without dropping to an astounding low level of dialogue .
