So we won't be testing people deliberately

GalOopNorth · 12/03/2020 17:15

Fucking bollocks.

JulietteLeGall · 12/03/2020 17:15

He actually said people over 70 shouldn't go on a cruise. He actually thinks he needs to say that....

Saucery · 12/03/2020 17:15

Murray I’d take the start day of the cough as the first day of the 7.

SistemaAddict · 12/03/2020 17:16

I take regular paracetamol for chronic pain and my temperature is usually around 37.5 at the moment. The paracetamol skews my baseline.

AlunWynsKnee · 12/03/2020 17:16

A cough without a fever is a significant change.

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:16

@MurrayTheMonk I would count something that started today as new for these purposes.

I think by new they mean not someone who has had a long term cough e.g. due to asthma.

MurrayTheMonk · 12/03/2020 17:16

Right so we aren't testing except if you are already very ill or in hospital?
So we won't know who has it or doesn't have it? Erm...

FacingtheAbess · 12/03/2020 17:16

Maybe it's more undesirable to bloody kill then?. Have they asked old people how they feel?

Kuponut · 12/03/2020 17:17

They are going to kill a LOT of people here - but the figures won't look bad because no one's getting tested.

Can I get out of this bloody country please? We're run by fucknuggets (donkeys would be giving them too much credit)

Reduce the peak my arse - don't go to hospital... don't get treated... no bugger's getting tested so that'll make the numbers nice and small.

baublegirl454 · 12/03/2020 17:17

My son is off school with a headache and a bit of a temp. Not unusual for him. Generally lasts 24 hours. Do I really have to now keep him off for 7 days? He is year 11 😩

YoursTunbridgeWells · 12/03/2020 17:17

Oh good it's better not be lonely than die.

ScatteredMama82 · 12/03/2020 17:17

Only testing people in hospital now. That will make it appear that the numbers aren't as bad as Italy, Spain etc.

missyelloww · 12/03/2020 17:17

I'm a bit confused - to everyone saying the he isn't doing enough, what is he supposed to say? I think their reasons for not closing schools are very valid? Although I do believe that sporting events should be cancelled. I'm not saying that anyone is right/wrong, I am just genuinely unsure of what people are expecting the Government to do at this point.

Also suggesting that we are 10 days behind Italy - 10 days ago Italy had about 2000 cases (I think, feel free to correct these numbers). We have 590, and the number of cases here are increasing at a slower rate than they did in Italy when they had around 600.

GalOopNorth · 12/03/2020 17:17

Part 1 - do fucking nothing

Part 2 - screw over the NHS

Alwaysreadyforbed · 12/03/2020 17:18

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

It’s a big symptom of ths virus. Are you saying you wouldn’t self isolate? it’s people like you that’ll spread it around more

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:18

@Bercows I guess you have to take into account your own normal, but it's less than a 1 degree rise, so bear that in mind when making decisions.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/03/2020 17:18

It's a cough. Most people I know have a cough once in a while. There's at least 4 people in our office with a cough currently.

I won't self isolate for a cough alone.

GalOopNorth · 12/03/2020 17:18

He is scared.

And totally out of his depth.

FacingtheAbess · 12/03/2020 17:18

Isolation is preferable to death by covid in a sports hall I'm sure!!

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:19

Laura Kunesberg saying what everyone is thinking TBH.

nellodee · 12/03/2020 17:19

I am a little worried that I have read this and Chris Whitty apparently has not.

"In the Singapore cluster, between 45% and 84% of infections appeared to come from people incubating the virus. In China, the figures ranged from 65% to as much as 87%."

1happyhippie · 12/03/2020 17:19

Why are we taking a different approach to other countries?
I don’t understand this at all.
Simple things put in place have to help surely?
Stop mass gatherings for a bloody start!

And if he says peak one more time I think I will explode!

Butternutbrownie · 12/03/2020 17:19

What is the point in increasing testing capacity, if we aren't going to be testing any more people (except hospitals)?
