Thanks for the new thread.

I've just sorted my corona cupboards out. I think we're good for 3 weeks, 4 at a push. I started preparing in January.

I'm nervous for 12pm ...

Banana0pancakes · 12/03/2020 10:33

Thanks @ofwarren for the new thread! I like when you start them, it just makes it easy to spot all your updates! Grin

My DP is a teacher and his school have been told nothing about closing down any time soon. However we are in a county with no positive cases (yet)

Justyou · 12/03/2020 10:34

Just been to Morrison’s it was absolutely manic, the poor staff looked ready to break

Quartz2208 · 12/03/2020 10:35

they must be thinking about it. I dont necessarily think it will happen instantly but may well be more planned (an increased school holiday) in order to allow people to get plans in place

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 10:36

@justyou
I think the shops will be interesting today. I expect we will see some more panic buying, depending on what comes from the cobra meeting.

My husband was supposed to be going on a trip this weekend and his Headteacher has said that if he doesn’t go then he will reimburse the hotel and flight costs.

We are also supposed to be going abroad in 4 weeks time and my husband has been told that he will have to self isolate for two weeks when he gets back.

I’m a nurse and I have no idea what my ward’s stance would be regarding returning to work after foreign travel.

Justyou · 12/03/2020 10:38

I expected a little busier but nothing like this, it was like the Christmas shop experience

FourTeaFallOut · 12/03/2020 10:39

FTSE down another 6% today, I suppose we'll have to expect more of the same for a while.

heathspeedwell · 12/03/2020 10:39

Thanks for the new thread, please can we have a clicky link to the old one?

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 10:41

@heathspeedwell
There is a clicky link on there.
It's blue and underlined on mine.
We had this issue yesterday. I think some people see them and some don't.

Is the link to the previous post clicky to everyone else?

My school hasn't breathed a word about closure despite one family self-isolating on account of contact with a confirmed case; not even a deep clean. Business as usual. I suspect we'll limp along until Easter.

It’s not a clicky one for me Grin

ClashCityRocker · 12/03/2020 10:45

Clickly for me, but sometimes I do get ones that just say 'click here' that aren't actually clicky

BigChocFrenzy · 12/03/2020 10:45

Trump's travel ban also of course excludes his various resorts in the Uk & Ireland

He has previous for using his position as POTUS to benefit his hotels etc

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 10:45

#heathspeedwell
I don't know how to change it if it's clicky on mine though.
Mumsnet is so weird like this at times. I don't know what to suggest.
Are you on a phone or computer? I'm on an android phone, using the app.

OP posts:
ofwarren · 12/03/2020 10:47

Why ARE the clicky links weird like that?
It's so frustrating.
I sometimes see ones I can't click too.

I work in a uni and we've been asked to plan/prepare for closure. Just by the higher up uni people, not by the govt!

heathspeedwell · 12/03/2020 10:49

Thanks ofwarren, I'm on a computer, I'll see if it works on my phone and maybe that will help us to work out the glitch in the system.

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 10:50

viva I bet that's what's happening. Schools using their initiative 'just in case'. Very sensible really.
