5-10k infected now? Really?

Cherrypi · 12/03/2020 17:06

Wow he said we probably have 5-10000 cases.

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:06

I agree plans could be made for emergency childcare for those who really need it (i.e. emergency services and healthcare workers).

Chief Medical Officer just suggested thousands of people could be infected already in the UK!

BiBiBirdie · 12/03/2020 17:07

It's easy for him to say about losing loved ones before their time, I bet his bloody relatives will be fine and dandy with their private bloody healthcare.

What about the rest of us with children and relatives with lung, heart or other at risk conditions? I mean, Boris standing there bullshitting us all will really make us all feel better when younger people start dying of it eh? Very reassuring.
I always knew another 5 years of Tory bullshit was going to suck. Even I couldn't foresee it sucking this much.

Youngatheart00 · 12/03/2020 17:07

Why do we think we can out-wit this but no one else can??

1ForAllnAllFor1 · 12/03/2020 17:07

Also what could work is relocating or shuffling teachers into their local schools as opposed to their place of work .. as a bid to limit use of public transport ?!

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:07

I just don't see how he can know that- unless he's suggesting all the testing they have done is totally ineffective.

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 17:07

About the only truthful things he said was that it will get worse before it gets better, that we will loose loved ones and that we don’t know the true figure of the infected.

I’m not a gambler. I’m not playing

sofato5miles · 12/03/2020 17:08

@JJPC err, why didn't you keep him home?

HeronLanyon · 12/03/2020 17:08

Persuasion fail. In order to expo and persuade you need not just to set out your stall it adresse the other sides questions !! Come on - this is basic advocacy.

xJune88 · 12/03/2020 17:08

Were screwed

Kuponut · 12/03/2020 17:08

Boris has completely NOT reassured me I have to say. He also either looks like he's got a shitty case of the lurgy (ho hum) or brown underwear from crapping himself.

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:08

I am going to come out and say actually I think the 5-10000 thing is wrong and may be a deliberate lie. It's all about persuading us it's not that bad, really.

They are trying to persuade us it's all ok to carry on as normal for the moment.

BiBiBirdie · 12/03/2020 17:08

@Youngatheart00 because he's Boris and he's a Tory. That's why he thinks we can beat it by doing fuck all like Italy did originally until it was too late.
You mark my words, our number of cases and deaths will be highest outside China within a month.

FacingtheAbess · 12/03/2020 17:09

What are they doing to push this back?

This is what I'm doing not getting?

What is the action to delay?
I can't understand this?

Everything is going on at normal.

We need lots of people to get ill.

HeronLanyon · 12/03/2020 17:09

‘Clearly we are stopping the contain phase’ - how ? What has changed ???

SansaSnark · 12/03/2020 17:10

Repeating things about not closing schools, brought out this 13-16 weeks figure.

If that's the case then why are other countries closing schools?

I think we are being lied to.

Delatron · 12/03/2020 17:10

I’m not sure private healthcare hospitals have A&E facilities or ICUs? So we’re all reliant on the NHS.

GalOopNorth · 12/03/2020 17:10

Why does he think we are 4 weeks behind Italy?

When we isolate, 14 days worth of people are still to get ill.

If you wait till the exponential part of the curve, that’s thousands of people

bananapuddles · 12/03/2020 17:10

Why 4 weeks behind Italy?

BiBiBirdie · 12/03/2020 17:10

Whitty looks like he has aged 20 years in a week. I don't trust him at all at this point. I don't trust any of them.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 12/03/2020 17:10

What exactly is a "continuous cough"?

SistemaAddict · 12/03/2020 17:10

Increased risk to high for all 4 UK nations.

Youngatheart00 · 12/03/2020 17:11

@BiBiBirdie yes I can see that happening.

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 17:11

Italy reports 2,651 new cases of coronavirus and 189 new deaths, raising total to 15,113 cases and 1,016 dead t.co/eUoE2b20hL
