The government are protecting us

I don't think you're the one who should be laughing tbh

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 16:31

Except when we start seeing a lot more deaths. They can hide the amount infected, they can't hide deaths.

MarshaBradyo · 12/03/2020 16:32

Where is this announcement?

SistemaAddict · 12/03/2020 16:32

On bbc news, just waiting for it to start.

ofwarren · 12/03/2020 16:33

LOMBARDY, #ITALY- 8725 total cases and 744 deaths.
(In Lombardy only)

Epidemiologically, from what I have read the vast majority of over 80s will not survive even given best care and if health care systems are overwhelmed and have to triage, then really going by Italy, anyone over 60 that requires intubation to survive will not receive it.

Sorry if you think that is scaremongering.

Not very impressed with Sturgeon. She shouldn’t have jumped the gun and made a statement before the meeting had formally ended and UK wide guidance released. In doing so she’s caused confusion about whether her comments apply or might apply UK wide or not.

There needs to be better coordination of communication from political leadership and possibly a single Coronavirus spokesperson doing a daily press conference with the CMO and CSO

Plus a clearer picture explanation as to why decisions are being made/not made

Ofwarren, yes I did read the article, hence why I was presenting the facts. I don't ever click on your tabloid links but if it is something I am interested in, I do my own search. A lot of people just quickly scan this thread, myself included because I don't have the time a lot of you do, so its important to keep it accurate

Beebityboo · 12/03/2020 16:35

My DC's school has confirmed that if I were to remove them until after Easter it would be classed as an unauthorised absence and would get fined/potentially lose their school place.
So send them in and hope for the best! I'm so angry and upset. At least give us the bloody choice!

Lumene · 12/03/2020 16:36

Anyone have a link to bbc news to watch for announcement?

Meruem · 12/03/2020 16:36

DD volunteers at a project providing meals to the homeless in London. She just came and told me she's been informed that from now until April 15th the meals will be provided as "take away" only and the only staff working will be the paid ones.

We were then discussing that there still has been no government response as to how the homeless can be protected (or at least put at less risk) during all of this.

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 16:37

Oh ffs BBC says to stay away from people who look visibly sick! Do they think the general public are actually that dim?

NewYearNewTwatName · 12/03/2020 16:37

loving the school trip getting photos outside downing street Grin

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 16:37

It’s on BBC1

CarrotVan · 12/03/2020 16:37

@Lumene there’s a live stream on the BBC news home page on Corona every day

Sistersis · 12/03/2020 16:38

Standard British attitude to keep calm and carry on seems to be the special of the day for handling this virus.

Hope it's not that attitude that will bring harm to vulnerable people.

whatdoesntkillus · 12/03/2020 16:38

This is a very interesting article and explains how the cases are counted and spread works and what happens if you delay social distancing.

medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca

The comment about politicians getting it when 50 cases per million - it is already very widespread but the cases are not officially confirmed yet.

We’ve updated our #Coronavirus (#COVID19) data dashboard, including new cases and cases by upper tier local authority. The link includes mobile and desktop versions: t.co/CV6X7bFbhA t.co/CVwoVaGYT7

Huh? Hmm That doesn't tally with what I have read at all. Source please.

Sunshinesky1981 · 12/03/2020 16:39

I think i am going to give it another couple of weeks and see if or what they do near the easter holidays. I don't want to pull DS out of School, however i'm not confident about keeping them in. The only bit of luck that we have on our side is that DS is Y6 so i cant be threatened by the worry of loosing his school place, his secondary place is already confirmed anyway

NewYearNewTwatName · 12/03/2020 16:39

how many ttimes are we going hear "the science" ?

open for bets.

whatdoesntkillus · 12/03/2020 16:40

Also - I spoke to a doctor friend (consultant at London hospital) who said their triage protocol in hosp when it kicks off will likely mean if you are over 65 you won’t get an ITU bed. They will prioritise those who are likely able to recover and lead a full life.

FacingtheAbess · 12/03/2020 16:41

What on earth did the daily mail publish?

What is going on I'm so confused. There will be civil unrest if they do not take strong measures or, say... Next week, schools close, blah blah.

There will be civil unrest.

buttermilkwaffles · 12/03/2020 16:41

@Lumene No, but Sky News have a live YouTube feed:
