@Random18, I don’t know? I imagine so, but what about people with pre existing conditions that make them vulnerable? I wonder if insurance companies are wriggling out of paying? Luckily, we have the nhs still

NEW: The UK will not be included in the travel restrictions Trump announces tonight, sources tell me.

The travel restrictions on Europe based on recommendations from Birx, Redfield, Fauci and coronavirus task force.

COPD and asthma may not increase your chances of catching the virus. They do increase the chance of mortality. If you get viral pneumonia and have COPD, of course you are at a higher risk.
I am actually a bit taken aback this is even being argued against.

PinkGinAndTacos · 12/03/2020 00:19

Slightly off topic here but I'm due a smear test next weds. I'm really worried it will be cancelled.....I asked for it 6 months back because I was having weird bleeding and they said I had to wait. I'd rather not delay it any longer. Do you think there is a chance the drs will stop doing routine things like this?

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:21

The Government is going for the economy, not for reducing deaths.
A lot of larger businesses seem to be taking this more seriously than the Government. However most people are employed in small businesses and I suspect they will be most likely to listen to Government advice, which is wash your hands and ring 111.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/03/2020 00:21

Someone on another thread casually mentioned she's booked a cruise Shock

wtf !!

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 00:22

If they lock London down and then move to other places then my children will be ‘poorly’ and not able to attend school next week.

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 00:24

And I don’t know why the UK won’t be on America’s travel ban...

... if anything shouldn’t they be on our travel ban?

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:26

Why would kids be out infecting adults in shopping centres if schools close?
Most will be at home on screens. And anyone vulnerable like me is already avoiding crowded places. But I have kids. So I want them not to pick it up from other kids.

Do you think that’s rampant hypertension or well controlled hypertension?

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:29

Anyway the Government keep saying they are going for herd immunity. So that means letting most people catch it. It probably will cause least economic disruption, but as it deliberately lets more people die, it is as WHO says immoral.

I don't care if Parliament is a skeleton staff as long as they don't have one rule for them and a different rule for everyone else. So we all have to carry on just washing our hands, and they can hide safely away from the workplace.

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:32

And WHO are quite clear there are not lots of undetected cases in China aso not sure why some posters keep pushing this idea?
WHO say about 10% of people are asymptomatic but can still infect others. So without proper testing they will spread the virus around. But that is the plan anyway.

confused I hope controlled Hypertension is not an excessive risk

confusedandtired99 · 12/03/2020 00:38

@Random18 me too because I have it :(

Random18 · 12/03/2020 00:38

allout my opinion only.

The WHO is shit. I do not think they have handled this well at all.

So I don't trust that they are right about the data coming out of China.

Only my thoughts of course........

BigChocFrenzy · 12/03/2020 00:39

"And WHO are quite clear there are not lots of undetected cases in China aso not sure why some posters keep pushing this idea?"

I posted it because a leading British epidemiologist has stated this
Has the WHO stated he is wrong and / or he has acknowledged this ?
In which case I won't post it again

He has also said UK is only finding 1 in 3 cases
Do you think the UK is finding them all ?

Random18 · 12/03/2020 00:39

confused its the biggest worry for my family

tenredthings · 12/03/2020 00:40

Useful explanation of why social distancing is an essential move.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/03/2020 00:43

random What concerns me about the high death rate for hypertension is that I thought most cases would be controlled by meds in a decent health system like China or Italy ?

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:45

Why post something saying WHO are rubbish without any evidence of even reasoning?

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 00:47

@BigChocFrenzy WHO said at first they thought there were lots of mild or asymptomatic cases in China going undetected. But after being on the ground or a while and doing a lot of work there, they changed their mind. I am not sure why a Dr in Britain who presumably has not been involved in the Chinese situation at all would think they know differently.

Mum2threejs · 12/03/2020 00:48

2 cases in a school in Carlisle and the school gets told to stay open..... this is complete madness

BigChocFrenzy · 12/03/2020 00:48

"Why post something saying WHO are rubbish without any evidence of even reasoning?"

Why did you invent that ? Hmm

I posted what a leading British epidemiologist said AND said I wouldn't post it again if the WHO said he was wrong
