Nadine Dorres has Coronavirus. Just confirmed,

What does this mean for Government

OP posts:
JellyBelly78 · 10/03/2020 23:32

That’s a pretty quick recovery time, I’m impressed

Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:33

@Leaannb surely your post just highlights why self isolating is important?

AlexaShutUp · 10/03/2020 23:34

If Philip and/or the Queen perish to Coronavirus that’s his political legacy cocked up in year 1.

I'm not convinced that they'd tell us if Covid 19 killed the Queen or Prince Philip. I reckon they'd give another cause of death instead.

manicinsomniac · 10/03/2020 23:34

Great. Thanks a bunch Nadine

Someone on another thread was asking why there aren't more survivor accounts out there to let people know what to expect etc.

The above is why. You can't villify someone for catching a virus. They don't catch it on purpose and more often than not haven't done anything differently to anyone else - just been unlucky.

LauraKsWhiteCoat · 10/03/2020 23:40

How is she over the worst of it when she only tested positive today?

And how come her Mum is getting a test so quickly?

Haffiana · 10/03/2020 23:40

Surely it is now out there so people are catching it from other people in this country, not just contracting it when they are on holiday.

'Out there'? Out there? Hell no - even on MN it gets hidden away in its own topic so that people can safely avoid anything that makes them the slightest uncomfortable or anxious.

Hoik · 10/03/2020 23:42

How is she over the worst of it when she only tested positive today?

She will have been tested at some point after first becoming unwell, so either Saturday or Sunday. The results are not instant and take a couple of days to come back which would be why she only got confirmation this morning.

Her mum will be getting tested so quickly because she is showing signs and has had direct contact with an infected person.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/03/2020 23:43

Totally missing the point, but why doesn’t the queen live with Phil any more? Have they fallen out or is he so frail he is basically in a (very) private nursing home? And if so, why isn’t he being nursed at the queen’s home?

VivaLeBeaver · 10/03/2020 23:43

And Boris was at that thing with half the royal family the other day. Blimey imagine if they all get it and die and Harry and Meghan end up as king and queen! 😬😬😆

AlexaShutUp · 10/03/2020 23:47

I agree. I despise Nadine Dorries and all that she stands for, but it isn't her fault that she caught the virus and I hope that both she and her elderly mother make a full recovery.

LauraKsWhiteCoat · 10/03/2020 23:48

@Hoik

That makes sense, of course - so she would have had a test sometime between Friday and today, and found out the results today.

Still dubious that she only fell ill on Friday, conducted a surgery at her constituency on Saturday, and is 'over the worst' today... I suspect she may have had it longer than she thinks.

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2020 23:49

She says she hopes she's over the worst of it now.

That doesn't mean she is.

LauraKsWhiteCoat · 10/03/2020 23:49

And Boris was at that thing with half the royal family the other day. Blimey imagine if they all get it and die and Harry and Meghan end up as king and queen!

No one shook hands though. Harry snubbed him so he probably dodged the Corona-bullet. Good for him!

Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:49

Don't the queen and Philip live together? I thought they did

x2boys · 10/03/2020 23:50

I didn't know she didn't @TinklyLittleLaugh?Surely they have enough Castles and Palaces to build him his own hospital wing ,if need be compete with a full nursing and medical team.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/03/2020 23:53

Sorry, just picking up on what Lulu said about the Queen and Phil.

PointlessAddict · 10/03/2020 23:58

At least she seems to be feeling better quite quickly.

x2boys · 11/03/2020 00:01

Well to be fair he's very old and frail I don't suppose he wants to be travelling here there and everywhere ! Mind the Queen is no spring chicken

LuluJakey1 · 11/03/2020 00:03

Tinkly no, not since he retired. He lives in a house on the estate at Sandringham. When she goes there she stays at the house with him but spends most of her time at BP during the week and at Windsor at weekends. He has few staff at his house at Sandringham apparently, a cook and a valet. He has friends to stay, paints, carriage drives, goes out walking.

LuluJakey1 · 11/03/2020 00:05

Although, I am not sure what he can do currently since his illness at Christmas.

x2boys · 11/03/2020 00:06

Doesn't sound a bad life @LuluJakey1!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/03/2020 00:09

Hmm, seems quite sad to me that they don’t seem to prioritise spending time together. The Royal family are quite a cold bunch.

poshme · 11/03/2020 00:11

Fairly sure as a junior minister she doesn't sit in cobra neeetjngs.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/03/2020 00:13

When do you stop being infectious? Apparently she’s only had it 5 days.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 00:18

And how come her Mum is getting a test so quickly?

Because her daughter’s a bloody health minister!
