gree they have some difficult things here about leadership. If they follow different advice to that given to schools and other people its going to be hard to justify

That's a good point. The message is: If someone has been exposed to someone with Covid-19, they should self isolate. That's what people have been doing. If our leaders don't do this, then what signal does that send out about the seriousness of the advice?

misses point of thread I don't think HM The Queen sees much of Prince Philip now she is back in London. He lives at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate and she lives at BP through the week and spends weekends in Windsor.

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 10/03/2020 23:13

Wasn't BoJo shaking hands with people with coronavirus?
Maybe he's one of the cases not exhibiting symptoms and it's him passing it around.

Cacaca · 10/03/2020 23:14

@willowpatterns harsh - you think she intentionally went out and got herself infected?! You do realise there may have actually been somebody else local to you that spread it?

MarshaBradyo · 10/03/2020 23:15

Interesting, bit closer to home for Boris now

Nat6999 · 10/03/2020 23:15

Tell Boris to get back in the fridge.

EUnamechange · 10/03/2020 23:16

More worrying is that she may have either caught from her officials, in which case the DfH hopefully has a back up chain of command, or she may have passed it on to her officials. Ditto. Not so worried about 1, hopefully healthy, minister going down with it, but if the civil servants in that department (experts doing much of the planning and advising, i.e. actually useful here) all get it, then you've got "business continuity issues".

Lynda07 · 10/03/2020 23:16

She didn't catch it deliberately! No doubt she'll be wracking her brains about how she caught it but will probably not know.

For the record I think this thread is good and should stay where it is.

Oakmaiden · 10/03/2020 23:17

According to NHS111, anyone who has been in close contact with someone with the virus needs to self isolate for 14 days.

As normal, the devil is in the detail. Being in the same room as someone does not count as close contact. For example, as far as schools are concerned if a pupil get CV then only people sat at the same desks as them, etc., are considered to be in close contact. The teacher and the rest of the class are considered low risk. So I guess it depends how much they spread out at those COBRA meetings....

womanaf · 10/03/2020 23:17

We’re suddenly in King Ralph territory.

This has the potential to be terrifying.

Also, anyone with an ounce of sense should not be wanting our govt to co duct it’s business over Skype. FFS.

willowpatterns · 10/03/2020 23:18

@Cacaca Er no, not harsh. She's been my MP for 15 long years - I know her better than you do. She's never done anything good for this town in all that time.

Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:19

They'll all be at work tomorrow Hmm

Health Minister has Coronavirus - will the Cabinet self isolate
Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:20

Oh if my image didn't post then it's a tweet saying the CMO says they don't need to self isolate.

chomalungma · 10/03/2020 23:20

Gosh - it looks like her mum has been staying with her and has developed a cough.

@NadineDorries

Thanks for so many good wishes. It’s been pretty rubbish but I hope I’m over the worst of it now. More worried about my 84yo mum who is staying with me and began with the cough today. She is being tested tomorrow. Keep safe and keep washing those hands, everyone.

I'd be worried about her mum too

NHS 111 Close Contact

Has someone with a confirmed case of coronavirus been in close contact with you?

Close contact with a confirmed case means:

living in the same house
face-to-face contact, for example, talking for more than a few minutes
being coughed on
being within 2 metres of the person for more than 15 minutes
contact with their body fluids

I bet there are quite a few people in Government who would fit into that category.

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 10/03/2020 23:25

She's over it in 4 days Hmm

Vallderama · 10/03/2020 23:26

Anyone who's been in the same train/tube carriage/meeting room as her is in that category.

Leaannb · 10/03/2020 23:27

You giys are hilarious with the self isolation stuff. Does your Goverment not understand how a virus operates? Did they not tell you that you have no symptoms until 5 days after exposure? Does your Goverment not understand that? How many people are you around in 5 days? How many people have they seen and spoken to in 5 days? Is there a huge mark on someone's forehead when they are immediately exposed? You have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not someone has been exposed. So unless you want complete economic disater worldwide you have to live your lives. Wash your hands but live your lives.

JellyBelly78 · 10/03/2020 23:28

They were looking for an excuse to shut Westminster down! Some MPs were talking about being superspreaders, as they go into London and back to their constituency. Surely thousands of people go in and out of London everyday and then hop on trains back to their homes. They don’t want the risk but they will want everyone else to soldier on!

chomalungma · 10/03/2020 23:29

Does your Goverment not understand how a virus operates

Your Government has the same rules.

OP posts:
x2boys · 10/03/2020 23:29

Well I doubt she's done it on purpose @willowpatterns I know the Tories are very unpopular on mumsnet ,but it's all over the UK now.

gower4 · 10/03/2020 23:31

Lots of people will have it and not necessarily be aware. It's hardly her fault!

Jellykat · 10/03/2020 23:32

Maybe she didn't wash her hands properly..

Hope she has enough loo roll.. in the meantime, 4 days??
