chomalungma · 10/03/2020 22:29

Nadine Dorres has Coronavirus. Just confirmed,

What does this mean for Government

OP posts:
Dongdingdong · 10/03/2020 23:02

I wonder how she got it - and which other MPs she has given it to, if any. Could the PM be next?

Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:03

Oh so will BJ be working from home?!
How can he have a meeting if he has been near her?

ineedaholidaynow · 10/03/2020 23:03

If NHS are only testing those that have come from specific countries does that explain why our numbers are so low, and doesn't actually represent the true situation?

Amanduh · 10/03/2020 23:03

Or her constituents have given it to her.. who knows.
She meets thousands of people.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 10/03/2020 23:04

Looks like Boris Johnson might eat his own words say that Britain should 'take it on the chin'.

What a complete numbnuts. He is the living embodiment of confusing confidence with competence.

Vallderama · 10/03/2020 23:04

Well this is an indication that the government's strategy is working really well.

Ffs.

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2020 23:04

Surely it is now out there so people are catching it from other people in this country, not just contracting it when they are on holiday

Yes and yet I had a mammogram yesterday and all they asked me was if I'd been out of the country in the last 2 weeks.

JoshArcherStoleMyTractor · 10/03/2020 23:04

Did Boris meet the Queen at Westminster abbey? Is this what will finally get Philip?

chomalungma · 10/03/2020 23:05

PMQs tomorrow will be interesting.

OP posts:
DrSheldonCooperPHD · 10/03/2020 23:05

@ineedaholidaynow definitely.

Butterwhy · 10/03/2020 23:06

The irony. By the sound of it measures other workplaces have been advised to follow are happening, and she is at home recovering so thankfully can't be too poorly with it. Other people may or may not have caught it from her, I'm sure many of them can work from home and fold their washing as they refuse to take part in video calls. Those who make the decisions I'm sure will still be in a position to. Can't get too excited about it really.

Lycidas · 10/03/2020 23:06

If Philip and/or the Queen perish to Coronavirus that’s his political legacy cocked up in year 1.

theflushedzebra · 10/03/2020 23:07

Fuck. It's it the House of Commons.

This is serious, regardless of what you think of Nadine Dorries or the govt.

I said the DH yesterday that I wasn't sure this govt was up for a major criss like this. And no, I didn't vote for them.

LimitIsUp · 10/03/2020 23:07

For the school prefects demanding that the thread be moved, I really don't want to read detailed minutiae on the coronavirus, so no thanks to that suggestion - but I do want to follow a thread about the implications of a government minister testing positive

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/03/2020 23:07

someone made a mistake and cluttered up AIBU, they didn't insert a fanfic chapter into the actual Domesday Book.

I think it's clear OP deliberately didn't post it in the main CV topic, unfortunately.

On the other hand, tell me more about this Domesday fanfic, it sounds epic! Grin

Butterwhy · 10/03/2020 23:08

@ineedaholidaynow numbers are always somewhat inaccurate for these things, a proportion of people wouldn't seek medical advice because it's mild (or with seasonal flu where there's no cure many people stay at home and never 'report' it), and testing everyone who showed a whiff of a symptom would be ridiculously expensive and a burden; not just here but anywhere. The figures serve a purpose though, there's usually enough to do trajectories and other such data.

CoronaLona · 10/03/2020 23:09

What even is a fanfic?

Vallderama · 10/03/2020 23:09

@ineedaholidaynow I don't think we have any clear idea as to how many people have got it. One of ex-h's colleagues tested positive and only people who they knew were in direct contact with him have been told to self isolate. The others including ex-h haven't even been tested. Similarly one of my own colleagues came back from the Dolomites last week and hasn't been tested. Also not self isolating as not told to do so unless symptomatic. It all seems a bit fucking slack.

Hoik · 10/03/2020 23:09

She is a human with a virus. The huge likelihood is she will recover.

If I was a tinfoil-hat type of person I'd wonder if she actually has it or if she has been chosen to "have it", make herself scarce for 10-14 days, and then reappear to reassure everyone that it's nothing really, no need to panic folks, no worse then the flu, please stop buying up all the bog rolls.

In all seriousness though, she's a vile excuse for a human but I do hope she isn't seriously ill and makes a full recovery.

Grasspigeons · 10/03/2020 23:09

I agree they have some difficult things here about leadership. If they follow different advice to that given to schools and other people its going to be hard to justify

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/03/2020 23:10

The nastiness is because you are threatening their safe bubble with facts and uncertainty.

Good grief it really, really isn't.

This may shock you, but we all have access to reputable news sources outside of MN, and we even read them too!

willowpatterns · 10/03/2020 23:10

Her constituency office is half a mile from my house.

The nearest 4 buildings to it are the chemists, the church, the library and the supermarket.

Great. Thanks a bunch Nadine.

Horehound · 10/03/2020 23:10

Surely they will ALL need to self isolated?!
I'm actually quite bemused by this.

All of a sudden it's serious but it wasn't when it was just regular folk getting it ..

WankStainWasher · 10/03/2020 23:11

Wise move then that no one was shaking hands at the Commonwealth Service yesterday.

Vallderama · 10/03/2020 23:11

@Butterwhy and yet people are being tested like crazy in South Korea.
